Also, although a minor problem, I think the two pixels above her breasts look odd, unnatural. Definately don't do what they're supposed to do. Besides, the breasts don't exactly need any more emphasis.

I have a problem with the shading of the sofa. If the light source is the fire, the sofa is illuminated... well, weirdly. The light source seems to be way to the left, and even then there's something wrong. You need to move the light on the left cushion much more to the centre of it and it should look fine.

OK, here finally is the improved version. I should've just fixed it originally...

As might be obvious, I can't log in on weekdays, so it'll again take a while before I can respond.

OK, so sorry to bump this (especially so late) but I guess the editing of the first post didn't bump it, as I didn't get any response, and I'd really like to know if there's anything good here.

So, does anyone have any comments, or will this just fall back into oblivion again (also known as the pages beyond page 1 (and maybe 2) - and I promise I won't bump it that time :P )

Is it bearable?

OK, so what programs are there to do animations with? As I mentioned I don't have one...

In the meanwhile, does anyone have any comment on the character itself (forgetting the walkcycle)?

OK, I made this character in one quick session a while back and was surprised at how well it turned out (it was supposed to be just a concept). So I decided to use this as a ground to make a (sideways) walk animation on, which is something I've always had just too much trouble with. I drew it pretty freehand, but hopefully it's not too obvious, or at least too disturbing.

So, the character is just black (with a gray outline to stand out from the backgrounds). I was surprised at how hard it eventually turned out to draw it when the closer leg is swinging forward. But when I checked it out on AGS I thought it was quite OK. At least on the feet, there's a couple things still funny with the coat, it's doing a bit of over-exaggerated flapping, but I wasn't able to fix it. I would probably have to redraw all the coats.

But as I mentioned I checked it out on AGS, so I don't have any programs to convert it into an animation. But maybe someone more capable can do that, as I suspect it gives a better view of things...

As I seriously dislike doing walking animations, I'll probably try to manage with just the side views, if that's possible... (If I even use this, as I haven't yet even checked what it actually looks like in different resolutions (and I haven't even completely decided what resolution to use  :P)

(Edit): OK, here's just the new walking animation:

Looks good - although in my opinion the painting should be straight, not askew. Other than that insignificant thing, looks like the subject.

I think this time the characters blend in quite well with the backgrounds. Or maybe it's the small images, but I don't think you have to change them, at least these ones (backgrounds with different color schemes might be different - hard to say :) ). I like the contrast between the photographic backgrounds and the drawn characters, at least when they're this well drawn.

And the rest also looks interesting, I'll definately be waiting forward to this.

The shading on the tree really bugs me. The shadow is on the left side, but the light source being the moon, there really shouldn't be any more shadow there than on the front side...

It's a common thing people do (and it might be hard to do the shadow so that it doesn't look flat), maybe you've realized it and/or it doesn't bug anyone else, but still it is quite disturbing in my opinion (the more I look at it the more it bugs me...)

In the original one I didn't realize there was water there, so I was a bit surprised in the second one :P But that water there in the bottom center, I think under the cliff doesn't look like it's under the cliff at all (assuming I am interpreting it all right :P), which might be a result of the outlines, or the water being too bright in comparison to the cliffs.

(Edit): And maybe a bit because of the coloring of the cliffs? (the shading or sometihng... Of course this relates to the color issue, but you know :P)

Maybe someone can be a bit more specific? I'm not an expert on the "why" part :)

Somehow this image looks rather familiar....
I noticed that too :)

QuoteAlso i think the car is a bit too large.
I'd rather say the building is a bit too small (and/or/besides, the car doesn't need to be that close to the building, though it does seem to be. I might make the car a bit smaller and the building a bit bigger, maybe)... Plus, it's lacking a roof. A building of that style would definately not have a flat roof. Or?

QuoteAnd as a last point, I think blue is a rather odd colour for a building :)
Hmm, well, I wouldn't say so. I know many blue buildings. Or maybe it's a cultural thing :P

The tree is a bit too flat comparing to the perspective of the wall or whatever there and the leaves. A bit of shading or something, perhaps?

And one thing, the very right side of the pic is totally empty, there seems to be nothing behind the building there.

But what if it stands for... Umm... Months-long?

The transition from field-with-house to mountains-in-background is odd. As if the field rises up sharply, but there's nothing in the field itself to suggest that. Especially the house makes the field look as if it's horizontal, not sloping up towards the back.

Hope this makes sense.
Also, you'd think they'd leave some kind of shadow on the valley, withe sun being quite much begind them...

Now I think the character is too dark, with such bright light sources right next to him.

Actually, I don't think it necessarily needs the stars. With the stars it's a night bg, but without them it's sort of late evening. There might be a few, if any. I like the evening-feel.

plus when there was nothing you could go except for the forums I thought "This can't be for real, it's got to be an April Fool's joke".
The forums and the information page... That was just so over the top already, there really wasn't any chance of this not being an april fools joke :P

Also, please refrain from posting in this thread with one-word posts or stuff like "awesome! I'm downloading it right now!"Ã,  Some form of feedback would be appreciated if you are gonna respond.

:P
:D

Actually, I have to admit I'm doing the same thing for a while too, but once I get around to playing it, I'll edit my comments here. I swear!

Anyways, umm... Awesome! Downloading right now! Actually, I already did that, so that's not true... anyways, as before, been a fan since you released the first. Though you seem to always release them around the time I have to study a lot...Ã,  :P

I guess you could've had one episode in between, and then brought Simon and Alice back, but I guess there's not much difference in it I guess (or something) :)

(Edit): Ah, now I played it for a bit. Seems like another great Ben Jordan! There are some things about the graphics, perspective quirks and such, and the rooms are quite large, yet empty (though the emptiness is actually a pretty good thing, so you won't have too many things to check). Nothing too huge though. The story seems quite interesting, though it's a bit odd that they just decide to go there without being called or anything. How can they know they can get any information? Didn't really play much, but as I said, looks excellent!

I also hope that he'll wear the legendary clothes at some point. At least in a following game. On the other hand, it would be cool if he in the last game he wears them in a Batman-like way, if you know what I mean :P The clothes were just über-cool!

Finished the game, great work, as you probably know at this point  :)

I however have one or two things I'm wondering.
Spoiler
It's about objects I never got to use and stuff. Now there might be more, but these I remember (from the end)

First of all, the piece of glass. I couldn't find any use for that.

Then the crystals. I tried to do lots of stuff with them in the panel, but nothing really did anything. I don't think I got them all in so that all the pipes would've been, eh lit. Does that do something, like disable the forcefield, or open the door as an alternative to the c4, or is it just... There...

Oh, and then there was the fruit and the brush. Didn't do anything either...

I have one thing to say: imagine that he continues to run. For example: Just add a kick there (as he's just running with the ball) (and the ball going away, too). (And I'm not saying that you should use the pic, I'm saying that that's the way to get what happens after the shot, in my opinion.)

Hmm... How could I put it, after they kick, they should take a step or two to stop the motion. Or can you stop yourself at full speed without any additional steps?

The pillars on the far left are totally flatÃ,  :P
So are the ones on the other side of the pool, but I think that's just because he couldn't make it look right...

And there are some perspective issues on the backrooms.
