ABOUT THE PUZZLE:

I knew it would be torture... but I wanted to force my love of invertebrates on everyone!!!

There were three versions:
1. no cheat sheet
2. cheat sheet with only names
3. cheat sheet with names and Phylums

So that's why some found it easier than others.

Thanks for all the feedback and compliments guys!!! :D

Is it just a coincidence that you look exactly like the main character? (Or at your avatar does)

I get this a lot.. It definitely wasn't intentional, but maybe subconcious?

Actually, I just download and dialog loop bug is still here.

Oh ok, I figured it out!!
If you use the hand tool to "open" the door, she can still come in right?

I was tired of switching tools in the last game, so I made almost all rooms (with maybe 1 exception) accessible simply by walking in that direction.. so I've stopped using the hand tool myself, and didn't find the bug.

Hopefully this fixes it, thanks!

Weird.. it doesn't happen for me anymore.  Does it happen no matter what you try?  What other actions have you completed at that point?

Is there some way to look for every place in the program that a variable is called up?  Rather than searching room by room, hotspot by hotspot?

Re: music,
it's pretty much all done, I'm just matching up rooms to songs.. :)

Not sure if this is a bug or not but seemed odd

Yes, this is definitely a huge mistake on my part.  It's because there are two ways to do this, and I forgot and only tested one out each run through.  Uploading new file now.

If anyone had Jay's problem, you can still pass the game without re-downloading, but you do have to re-start that part and:

Click on the actual blue item in the garbage pile, not the pile or nook itself.  It's hard to see, but you should be able to make out a bluish fish.

Thanks!

I seem to have found a bug.

Sweet thanks!
Someone else also told me about this one.
I believe I've fixed it, but if anyone has it happen again starting now, lemmie know...
By the end I was really getting lost in a web of variables haha

Newer Update
MY COMPUTER EXPLODED!!!
I'm in the process of getting a new one, so it'll be a while before I get regular internet access :(
..luckily my harddrive was spared... :)

Update
Linus and my sister have done an AMAZING job writing music for me, and I've finally incorporated it into the game
--- you MUST play the musical version.. it's a whole new experience!!! ---
www.divotdesign.com/PoEII.rar

Special Note
Quest for Glory did NOT invent Babayaga (and neither did I..).  She's a well-known character from Slavic folklore.

New Features
- You didn't have to pester me for months to add animations (they're already there!)
- Cartoon sequences to enhance story-telling!
- An entry screen and end sequence
- A cuter, "Walk" symbol, cuz the old one was weird

Story: Now that Rogi has fallen through the hole in the earth, (check out part I at divotdesign.com) she is one step closer to the home of Babayaga.  She can almost smell her idol cackling in the distance.  But alas, it is night in this creepy land, and (of course) wacky adventures ensue!

Do you know of any other in the same line?

Yes, absolutely, Principles of Evil: Volume II! (coming really soon)

Monitors usually save the settings for each mode separately (note, affected also by refresh rates, so, say 640x480 @60Hz and 640x480 @85Hz would have different settings). So if so far only your game uses that specific graphic mode on your computer and the settings are not calibrated you may have such problem.

Aaah, good to know.. thanks!

Although I can't find settings to manually adjust size on this monitor, the Autoadjust button fixed the problem for the most part.

Strange how it effected only the game though...

But yeah it's fixed, thanks guys!

Well here's the screen shot and...
hmmm.
It's not cut off.  :-\

Ok so i guess it's my monitor settings?  But it doesn't cut off Windows... just the game?

I haven't messed with the script at all... definitely haven't done anything to that variable.

How would I go about correcting it?  Where/how do I insert which text?

Thanks!

Hey,

My dialog options are showing up about three letters' worth too far to the left, so the beginning of each is cut off.  It's really puzzling me...

The conversation is started after a string of actions that happen when the character enters a room for the first time.

Any clue what's going on?

Hmm...

the music works for me (duh)... they're midi files.
Wow, but this sucks... what could be going wrong?

will your character have shadows like that ingame?

If only... if only...  :-\

So.... what kind of musician do you need?

I need a music slave for cheesy, deeply atmospheric music. Similar to Volume I, but more complex.
The most I can afford to pay is $40 (Canadian) per song.. I'll need about 13.

FINALLY!!!
After... ? 3 years? hahaha
So the game is finished and can be played through its entirety.

linus,  I've just made a custom inventory screen, but I can't figure out how to change the "Save" and "Restore" screens...
I tried the cursor thing.. adding colour under the outlines.. Looks better but still confusing.. I might re-do them altogether.

splat44, I don't want to give too much away, but to save you clicking time, the new room is inside the Swamp Castle.  ;)

Thanks for the nice comments guys!  :)

BTW are you a team now? Because in earlier posts you spoke in first person singular and now it's "we went back" in the edited first post.

I work with my sister.  We both make the story.  Generally, I do the programming and graphics, while she does the music, but really there's a lot of overlap.

Thanks for your suggestions.  I know there's still a few holes, but it's helpful to find out which ones strike the player as most annoying!  :)
