Hey man it's great to see something like this coming from you again. It has been a while since LITN.

If you need any help with beta testing, I'm up for it.

General Discussion / Re: A laptop?

I remove my previous statement that Acer is an alright brand. It's pretty bad, my laptop died again today. It's out of warrenty and it might be the videocard, which would mean buying a new laptop since those are crazy expensive to replace.

Today I went to a shop to ask if they had any tips about fixing my laptop, to my suprise that shop refuses to sell Acer laptop because of the bad build quality and the high need-to-be-repaired rate.

They named a few brands which were reliable and had good customer-support (unlike Acer), two I remember are Toshiba (ugly but tough) and Asus.

Didn't read through the whole thread, will later.

But I will add that the casing of Acers suck. The laptop is fine, just the casing and ports and other pieces will fall out of place.

My Acer is still in tact, bought it sept 2007. Although the bottom is somewhat broken because of a long time of physical abuse.

A reason why Acer laptops might be considered slow is because of all the crap Acer install with your windows. Personally I have windows 7 beta and a tweaked vista and it all works fine and dandy. I've got an Aspire 5920(which you can buy a better version of for around 600 euros), pretty decent for gaming although I only play Team Fortress 2 and Left 4 Dead which aren't the most demanding games.

As mentioned before, try to get one with a free Linux distribution, I know I don't want to pay for another license if I ever come to replace this laptop.

General Discussion / Re: Laptop advice!

I bought my current laptop last September, was looking for the best for the cheapest. Got me an Acer Aspire 5920. It's a pretty heavy duty laptop, can run any program and the latest games. Unfortunately I don't see this thing still alive in 5 years. It broke within 3 months after purchase, which was a factory error... after three months for no reason. Also it doesn't feel sturdy enough for me, the lid cracks sometimes when opening or closing.

So yeah, if you're a person who has trouble NOT breaking things get something that is decently build. Also, ALWAYS go to a store to check out a laptop. I wouldn't advice just buying it online without having it in your hands once. Unless you're familiar with it some other way, friends or whatever.
When in the store see what fits you best.

But yeah you said you wanted to cheap, then go for cheap. Toshiba seems to have fairly cheap laptops which seems decent. My mom bought a toshiba a few weeks ago, thing works like a charm.

Also, if you get a laptop with vista, uninstall all the crap that they install with it. This laptop ran with 1gig of memory taken by vista and Acer's programs. After cleaning this baby out it runs fine at 600mb. So clean your laptop of all this crap, and if you can get one without an OS or install windows XP.

Every day I wake up thinking, why haven't I made a zombie short yet!

I'd love to see some low-budget zombie works from people here!

Program doesn't matter, PSP is fine. You could even use paint...

You could also try adding some detail to the surfaces instead of solid colors.

Perhaps the backlight of the monitor broke? Though I'm not too sure if normal monitors even have that...

Thought the side-walking animation still looked a bit stiff. Whipped this up just now:

Added some motion to the jacket and tried to make his head less static, though a bit too much perhaps.

PS

My program crashed on me when I made the first attempt, which looked better then the above. SCREW YOU ULEAD GIF ANIMATOR!

EDIT:

Just noticed this, when he kicks his feet back it doesn't look like he's (afzetten, jij snapt dit wel Tim :P )

I've got to have 3dsMax for my college, they don't care where you get it. I heard rumors of teachers actually cracking software while the computer was connected to a beamer for everyone to see.

I think it looks alright. The textures though are either stretched, like the wall. Zoomed in, like the floor. Zoomed out, like the side of the table. And the overall grittery look of the wood makes it look kinda messy.

I can largely agree with InCreator here, though I did like the envirnoments but indeed it didn't deserve the attention and the insane ratings it got. I don't see why there was such a hype. I can simply give my arguments here but everything was said by InCreator, there are a load of games out there of which Bioshock kinda lended elements. The main problem I have with the reviews is that it's supposed to be scary, which (so far) it isn't. Every single 'scary' moment I already predicted, there wasn't a single jump outta your seat moment. Which Condemned certainly had.

I think it's a good game, just not as good as every gamingsite makes it out to be. I've had multible bugs/annoyances that would most def get me out of the atmosphere. A stupid little thing was when I saw a pack of hoodini splicers, I threw a rage plasmid on one and guess what. Nothing happened, for some reason the game was being a d*ck. So I just granated the hell out of them. Also the big daddy-plasmid doesn't make the Big Daddies do anything until you are beaten to death.

The Statesadvisor(?) of landscape asked designers for a new generation of windmills. 100 MegaWatt mountains, a colaboration between One Architecture, Ton Matten and NL Architects found out that a single construction could hold up to 10 turbines. De millsdensity could be increased by changing(?) the height up to 120 meters. Then they could be placed in city's, so said landscapearchitect Paul van Beek. That's where we need the energy the most. For the first time wind becomes visible. It looks so gooood!
