Hillbilly, please considering updating this to multiple endings or even a prequel game.

I AM BEGGING YOU!

Holy ancient threads, Batman! The last post in this thread was FIVE years ago! If you want to contact the game creator, PM him/her. We generally try not to dig up long dead threads.

Urgh... I'm at my wits' end in Chapter One. Got the book, reading/playing it, been to the Beach, Lighthouse, Cove, Cliff, got the bottle and bit of sail from the wreck (should be all the obvious things, at least), three items from the Cove screen, the shield is clean - but I just can't find a way to light the beacon. I'm just running around the island like a lab mouse on speed...

lighting the beacon:

full answer:

use the shield on the fence/railing next to the firewood at the beacon. You'll place the shield at an angel so that the shield will reflect a beam of light onto the beacon strong enough to ignite it.

It's a common enough fire lighting method (at least on tv): concentrate a beam of light either through magnifying glass/glasses or by reflecting it off something shiny.

Under the achievements, there are three options that I'm trying to track down.  Goldfarb Digger, Laying it Bear, and Snow Plow.  Does anyone have any suggestions for these?

- Cogliostro

Goldfarb Digger:
Spoiler
This one's easier to figure out if you play in commentary mode, because you see pics of the voice actors whenever they have commentary/blooper sound bytes.

When you get to the the Vantini Bar (Ray) have a look at the pictures on the wall. You may recognize one. Use Joey's tie on the picture of Goldfarb.

Laying it Bear:
Spoiler
When you are in the void with Aunt Lauren, make sure you talk with her after you convince her to get up/leave the void.

Snow Plow:
Spoiler
Indeed it is the exact opposite of "Softly, Softly" (though apparently no one has that one yet).

Just walk around in every location with snow until Joey comments on it.

Is Betrayed Alliance even an AGS game? This ia a forum specifically for games developed in AGS.

I took Kendra back to her dad's place.  Joey and Rosa both tell me I am supposed to check on her, but I can't seem to enter the building.  The door is locked and I get no response when I use the buzzer.  Joey says the 5th floor is out of range. Nor can I gain access to the fire escape--Joey isn't interested in the alley, and the gate is locked.  The walkthrough I found said I was just supposed to follow Kendra and doesn't mention any puzzles to get back in.  Is this a bug or is there another way in?

I think you missed something in Lia's house.

Spoiler
There's a keyrack next to the door. Emil's key is on it. Symptom of being an adventure gamer- you click on absolutely everything.

Loving this game so far!  I'm not quite as far along as you Piperhcombs, but I'm stuck as well:

Spoiler
Trying to figure out how to get inside George Ostin's apartment.  I did pick up the note about the clothing drive but no clue what to do with it.  Anyone know what the next step is?  Sam is no help either, of course...

Yep, I did talk to the receptionist about every topic...is there something else I need to do or am missing, or do I need to search something else on my phone? I really am stumped.

Thanks, by the way!  :)

getting into George's place yet, that'll happen in time. Talking to the receptionist about the right thing
hint: the subject of the note should have gotten you a new location to visit. Try stepping outside- or checking your notes for an update.

Chapter 2. This
Spoiler
door puzzle seems to have gotten the better of me. I have picked heart, bed, raindrops??, sword, yet it doesn't appear to be right. I would've thought the candle would be the answer to the 3rd riddle but the candle symbol does not appear in that list of blocks.
[close]

Anyone got any ideas on this. This game is really starting to make me question my own intelligence

The trick is that
Spoiler
the answer block order is not in the order of the riddles as they were told to you. So the candle is the answer to the 3rd riddle told to you, but it is not in the 3rd row- select the candle in whichever row it is in.

By the way, only one
Spoiler
of the four answers you tried is correct. Let me know if any of the riddles stump you- they are all ones I have heard before (though one was differenty worded enough that I didn't get it until right after I solved the door puzzle

This is one of few puzzles I didn't have to look at hints for.

That ending.

I do agree with Grundislav about it being a bit abrupt though.

Okay, I'm lost. What the heck do you do on the airplane screen. All I see is the airplane on the map, and once it gets to Africa it stops moving. If I move the the mouse around, there's no cursor but I do see three hotspot labels- Chet, Vivian, and something that looks like New Character or something (the second word is cut off). Were we supposed to navigate somewhere?

Very entertaining!

When I was trying to do that tap the arrow keys to dance thing, the first time I messed up, I clicked the mouse and that made Bertha leave the living room and go back into the kitchen. However, the green four way arrow icon was still in the lower left, and the cursor was invisible. I managed to navigate back into the living room where the dance segment started up again, but it looked like this:
