There are a lot of ags games out there that are cool and clever, but I have an idea for a game that i think would be fresh and is open for anyone to develop. I'm a father of three and don't have time to dedicate to working on it myself, but would love to see it made.

Essentially it's about a medieval peasant with dreams of a better life that stumbles upon a plot to kill the king and destroy the kingdom...

Now here is where the idea is different from most games... He/She finds a magical sword that when unsheathed causes all those in the immediate vicinity to burst out in song about their current situation. A Musical Adventure Game. Of course it would require voice participants that can carry a tune and some clever and witty song lyrics.

Another idea for a plot twist is the sword could have a counterpart possessed by those who are trying to kill and overthrow the king... much potential for villianous musical cut scenes.

So, any takers?

This project has a name and is currently has two developers.

Project Name: Peril Quest

Looking for more talent to add to the team.

Currently, this project is using AGS and Blender. if you know these or are interested in learning, please reply to this post.

For those interested this project is already moving along quickly. we have ironed out some details and have a group box to pass each other information. a website is pending for the unnamed game and if you have talent and are interested in joining, you would be welcome.

Do you have yahoo messenger? It might be faster to work through chat. my id is quentinmicc.

This project is just beginning but I think with the proper organization and plan we can get things moving quickly.

So tell me more about yourself..
What's your name?
Where are you located?

Skitt2501, Thank you for sharing what you have so far.  I had a chance to look at your exe file. I agree that it is rudimentary in graphics, but you have your project much further along and I see the great potential for you in animation. I would like to pick your brain about what program you used to create the demo, and although I'm not interested in joining your team because I have a specific vision in mind, If your interested I would like to invite you to join our team.

It seems you were going for realism to the best detail you could, but I think more can be achieved in a shorter period of time if a slightly cartoonish look were the goal. Check out A Vampire Story, Runaway Series, or The Secret of Monkey Island Special edition to see the style I am referring to. I believe this make it easy to accentuate characters tying them into a slightly sardonic storyline as well as make it easier to tie all the graphics together because we all know the human model isn't easy to make and animate.

cosmiccr is already on the team as well and we are both working on parts of the vision to create a greater whole. there is plenty of work and room of course if your interested. We could even adapt the framework of what you already have if your interested.

While that game looks awesome and it does look like it will capture the nostalgia of the Quest for Glory games(you bet I will play it!), it's not quite what I am looking to create.

I want to create a game with a more modern look. I guess the best description would be the textures and feel of "The Longest Journey", crossed with the artistic style of o"A Vampyre Story". And bring it all together with the feel and flow of the QFG series.

How close to completion is your project?

oh and yes, I am interested in other genres too, but one thing at a time.

Yes, I'm interested in doing a Fantasy-esque style game. I looked up the longest journey and the graphics and yes they look close to what I was thinking. I would like to do a series of games that bridge together like the heroes quest series did. I also liked how the games had the same hero, but were each uniquely themed. I don't know if we can export files to translate the character from the first game to the second but I'm sure that a "passcode" option is an alternative that could be used if necessary. I would like to keep the initial classes to three or four but have the possibility of "development" later, with traditionals such as Wizard, Rogue, and Warrior.

As for Inkscape, your probably right, but it could be used to create labels or textures to wrap shapes in blender. Just a thought, not a requirement. And I am serious, I already have a website that was originally for something else, but could be easily adapted for use. it's not linked yet but the site name is www.impulsebuygames.com

And yes, it would be wonderful to be on a team with you. It's been awhile since I played with AGS, but I'm a quick study, and I also can code, write, design as well as other "stuff". And if you know of others that would be interested please let them know.

Private message me about yourself and I'll return the favor.

I have always been enamored with the Quest for Glory series and I'm disappointed that no new true adventure games in that style have come out in a long time.

I'm interested in creating an original game that would hopefully be the first in a series of games. I write in my spare time so I believe I can come up with a decent cohesive script. I know this kind of project is a very time consuming thing so I would like to recruit some help for the project. I would like to make some changes to the original concept to account for a more recent age of adventure gamers though, so 1024x768 Resolution with 32 bit graphics for Alpha transparency.

Other details then that should be decided on as a group such as graphic style and programs to use in the design. But I'm throwing ideas out there for art such as Blender or Inkscape on the table (Both Free).

So if your interested in participating please private message me! Thank You.
