Hooray!  I'll be on the next plane.  I actually kept an eye out for your name in the credits of either DX:MD or the first DLC, and it was pretty cool to see someone I 'knew' credited on such a huge AAA title.

I worked on Watchdogs 2 for Ubi, and now I'm on a top secret super hush hush project. AAA is cool for its own reasons but obviously also comes with its own challenges. There's definitely something to be said for working on small teams or on your own project though. One day I'm going to get around to bringing Rode Kill back to life.

I love that these forums are still here for me to pop into once in a while, and that there's still familiar faces around. I doubt that there are many communities like this left on the internet anymore, which is a real shame.

Hey AGA, I work at Ubisoft now so we can finally get married.

Eidos Montreal actually, but you're not the first person to make that assumption. :P

If it's any consolation, I have friends that work at Ubi. I can point you their way if you're still looking to get married.

Hey there, nice to see that some familiar faces, er... names, are still hanging around here.

Just to maybe followup on this, I don't actually remember why I stopped working on AGS stuff.

No wait. I actually just did right now, kind of. Long story short, I was living on my own, still working on my remake of Rode Kill 1, but working for a scumlord who started bouncing my paycheques. Yadda yadda yadda my computer decided to join in my fun of being broke and... broke. So I guess not having a PC for a while just caused me to drift away from it.

The good news is I eventually found a better job, got a new computer, and started learning more about game design and development. Skip ahead a few more years and now I'm working on this.

I've been working in the industry for just over eight years now and shipped a bunch of mediocre-to-crap games for a different developer before coming to work at Eidos, so I'm pretty excited to finally be working on something really cool.

My free time is spent alternately between trying to keep my son from jumping off the furniture and killing himself (oh yeah, I made one of those also) and still plugging away on my own games, mostly with Unity and more recently Unreal.

I still lurk around here one in a while. It's been really cool seeing what some of the old AGS crew have been up to, like Eric and his book (It's great! Order it!) and of course Dave and Wadget Eye.

Hopefully one day I'll manage to find the time to actually finishing something on my own. I'd love to revisit Rode, Rusty and all those characters.

Holy crap... how long was I asleep in that broom closet? Why didn't anyone wake me up!?!?

I'm still lurking in the shadows...

Roughly once per week I ache for the old days when I was heavily involved in the community... sadly the career has taken most of my free time these days (I actually make games for money now! At a studio and everything! Crazy!).

I'm really tempted to crack that new version of AGS open and make something, but the amount of work involved at this point is just beyond the time I have.
Rodney Kill will make his lazy return some day!

Actually I'm really amazed with all the familiar names I still see here on a regular basis, even after all these years.
What an incredible community!

I think one thing that would be great in my situation would be a newsletter with community updates, game releases, tutorials and stuff like that. Something I could read on my lunch break at work.

Yeah I don't even have a good excuse for not going. I just forgot really.
Been really busy at my new job... making games!!!! WHEEEEE!!!!!

The Clumsy Fop is my favorite movie of all time.
And that's not an easy thing to say about Canadian cinema.

The great thing about getting paid is it's one of the few pleasures of life that never gets dull.

I still have my Larry Vales shirt.
It's really faded now though. Cafepress sucks.

I could be wrong but I thought I saw Butcher pop his head in here a couple of months ago.

Ok, I'll bite.

So a few of you, especially those that were around in the 2000-2003ish timeframe, may remember my character Rode Kill and his series of games, and how I was working on a sequel to the original, and how it was taking a long, long time.

Well what happened was this. I had a serious issue with planning the game ahead of time. I had the story done, and a general sense of a majority of the puzzles, but mostly I was just making it up as I went along. This led to a few problems, namely, motivation factors to get it finished, and as you can see below, serious problems with maintaining a sense of style throughout the game.

The sad part is, I had some really great stuff done, and some really great people help me along the way, including Mods and his amazing soundtrack, which I am greedily hording for myself for the future (yes, I do have some Rode Kill stuff planned and in the works).

I'd say any puzzle involving math of some sort.

Hmm, I was expecting an insult of some type. Damn you for not being the typical e-peen wagging internet dweller!

I guess I should actually explain my position in this case.

Alright, so here's how I see it... the episodes are roughly 10$ each. I can get all six for 35$, which actually saves me 20$ over buying them individually. Now, I really did enjoy the first episode, so basically I'm taking a gamble that the rest of them will be similar in quality. They may not be, of course. If all the remaining episodes are complete trash, then I've thrown away about 29$, which sucks. However! Imagine not pre-ordering them and then they turn out to be the greatest adventure games of all time? Now I have to spend 20$ more to have them all! Meanwhile everyone who has pre-ordered them is basking in the glow of the blood on Max's face, and now has 20$ to spend on fine cigars and hookers.

What can I say? You got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, know when to walk away, and know when to run.

Who told you about my crystal ball?

Anyways, what happened to "I will purchase Sam and Max, purely because it is Sam and Max"?

How dare I support a company that has not created the game your heart so desperately desired!

If you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go pay for future chunks of delicious Sam n Max goodness. Oh how he loves the juicy chunks... they are bitesized... and oh so spicey.

You never buy games based on a demo? What do you base your game-buying decisions on? Do you wait for reviewers tell you what games to buy?
#19
I liked it a lot. Took me a couple of hours to finish it.
I'll pre-order the whole season based on this one.

I was referring to the Quebec variety, since I live in Montreal.
Amongst my friends, swearing in french isn't taken seriously because we're all english. Swearing in french is usually done as a joke.
