Love the cartoony style, maybe you could add some more details, but other than that it's great ;)

It looks cool!
I understand that the perspective is difficult to change, but I would still do something about the colours outside.
Also I was wondering if the characters sitting in the cafe is finished? I think they look a bit goofy (yeah I know it's a comic), but if I understand it correctly they still are unfinished. I like the GIF-animation though :)

All support to you!

Really cool Bg DonB. I like the kind of "abstract" sense of the image, but still I have some critics to come with.

The first thing I thought when I saw the Bg was that the building in the back was way out of perspective, but when I saw the real picture I saw how it was supposed to be. What I mean by out of perspective is that it seems as though the top of the building is pointing to the left, but the lower part is pointing to the right. I've tried to look at it a million times but it still freaks my eyes out, so I would suggest you did something about it (if you see what I mean).

The blue tone in the outside textures is not a bad idea to give the sense of beeing at night, but what you have done so far is making all the colours simply different tones of blue. I think you should add a bit texture colour to the blue, like for example the brick wall, make the blue a bit more redish blue. Also I think the outside needs to be a bit darker it the lightest parts.

I hope you see what I mean, and I'll try to do a paintover, even though I've never done that before :P

J.K ;)

edit: I will not do the paintover, simply because that went straight to hell, but I hope you see what I mean anyway.

Maybe, maybe not. I think I'm gonna keep the window the way it is, unless I'm gonna remove it, that is. But the room will be kind of empty without a window, so...

For me it's definately Monkey Island 3!

I love the grapics and puzzles in the game, and since this is the first game in the saga I played I kind of fell in love with it :P

Other than that I really love Beneth A Steel Sky and grim fandango!

But what are those things on the wall by the door(in the kitchen)?Ã,  I can't tell...

If you mean the two things hanging on the wall beside the WINDOW ;), it's supposed to be two tiny pictures. I have them on my kitchen wall, so I decided to add them...

The door, by the way, is covered by drapes (at the far right og the screen) and can not be seen.

The thing behind the table is a large window, not a door. That's why it's so small. Shadows are coming, I just have to get them right first ;)

It IS well drawn, but it is not in the least bit creepy. Break some glass. Throw around some litter. Hang a painting on the wall, then knock it askew. Grow some moss. Put a dirty gutter in the alley seeping some sort of green mist...

What I meant about creepy wasn't that it's supposed to be a horror game, but rather a game where you find yourself in a kind of sterile environment without a single human being around, and as you are completing your way through the game you are discovering the awful truth of what happened to the place you're in.

Thnx;) I'm not quite sure I understood what you meant by out of mood, but the game is not supposed to be a feel-good game, if you know what I mean. It's going to be a kind of creepy myst-ish game where you find your way through a very odd world.

As for the lighting and shading I've barely started doing that. I think the lighting looks ok in the bg's, but im gonna add shading to the different things afterwards. ;)

Here is a couple of backgrounds for a game I'm making. It's a non character game, wich means that you move around and take things by clicking things that you see. Hope you like them ;)

The first one is supposed to be a kitchen, and yes, the chair is moved away from the table and it is not out of perspective:

The second one is an alley wich you can exit to from the kitchen:

There. Enjoy, and please give lots of C&C if you feel like it ;)

Thanx scummbuddy :P

I'll fix it in the finished game. WHat do you think of the game, other than the buy-o-matic machine? Puzzles? Bg's?

Here are some screenshots from my ongoing game "A Painters Journey". The game has its own homepage with have an almost complete demo that you downloadit also have some additional screenshots if you can't view the screenshots in this thread:

http://www.freewebs.com/apaintersjourney/

So, the story is as follows:

Bob is an underpaid victim of society, working at a paint-factory, constantly thinking about how miserable his life is. But the day his boss gets kidnapped he sees his chance to escape, and he decides to go home. But the problems doesn't stop here. On his way home he encounters a lot of problems, and he finds different clues that his boss has left behind to try to give by-passers a hint of what's happened to him. Bob is forced to solve the mysteries, and maybe in the same process save his boss, but is he really prepaired for what he will meet out there...

There is just one thing I really, really need for my game, A CHARACTER! If anyone out there is interested in making me a character, I would be sooo happy. Please don't hesitate to take contact if you're interested!!!
