Happy 23rd birthday, Electroshokker. The leader of MI: The lost years.  :)

Life of Brian is one of the best films ever! It's so hilarious! I'm not sure if I prefer Holy Grail though. The Meaning of Life wasn't quite as good as the others. It had good bits in it, but id doesn't compare with the other films. I love the fact that they're all completely random and they don't make any sence! It's something that works for Monty Python. SPAMALOT is really recommended too, it's a theatre production, it was fantastic. Anyone else seen it?

And remember:

Always look on the bright side of life! :)

Yes, I am still working on Time Kid. ;)

I will be redrawing the art into a cartoony look. I know some people liked how it looked originally, but since going on Work Experience to an animation studios (which was brilliant), I've learned a lot about drawing cartoons and animation, etc.

Here's the main character in a more cartoony look. I'm pretty impressed with how it turned out, but I think something could be done to improve it. Particularly the hair. I would like the character to look like it's from a cartoon tv show. Kind of a cross between DOTT and MI3. I also haven't used many colours and too much detail. It'll be easier to animate like that. He's also wearing his school uniform.

Anyway, tell me what you think.

Some people here may remember when I first joined these forums, I was working on a parody of Harry Potter featuring guns and weapons. I was playing what I had of it last week and realised how poor and lazy the idea was. I was being really over ambitious too. The graphics were rather poor as well.

However, I want to return to this game, but Time Kid is more important at the moment (because it's further into production than any other of my game attempts). I think that the HP thread gained the most attention though, so I think I could return to the game and do something good with it someday.

Some old and bad screens (I'm 50 times better now (IMO)):

When will the english version be released?

It is released. Just run the game under the Default translation setting.

I've been waiting for this game for a while. I really like the idea of Time Travel (which is what my own WIP game is about) and I'm looking forward to playing further! I really like the graphic style. :) Geoffkhan did the music didn't he?

Nevermind. It's solved.! Fantastic game!

Alright. I have the envelope, mirror, tickets, stamp, hair, spice rack, key ring, purse, nest, 20 bucks, chair, sheet of paper and biro. I have given Wierd Ed Edison his hamster, the ring to Mr Miller and opened the shower door to find Doctor Fred. Does that have anything to do with the game?

I've heard from another thread that I need to get glue from somewhere, but I have literally looked everywhere I can look. In the rooms, inside the inventory items and more.  ???

It's a great game, one of the best MMM games I've played in my opinion, but it's one of the hardest! Please help.

Okay, here's some graphics from my current game(s) Time Kid. (It will now be released in two parts. The first part meeting my deadline of April 15th):

And now for some animations:

The main character's (Jacob's) animation for when he is shot in the head.

One of the villains animations. He is firing a laser here.

This animation is of a man running to his bomb shelter in World War Two.

And now, a new screenshot:

Jacob landing his time machine on an alien planet.

One new background:

Of a hallway in Jacobs school. (St Henry's school of History and Fact)

And my website:
www.fentonfilms.co.uk

I suppose I'd better update the progress thread too.

Just begun playing it. I am really enjoying it so far. Particularly the animation. It's so smooth and incredible, some of the best animation in an AGS game in my opinion. Really like the music too, I am impressed m0ds.

Really like it. I'll come back once I've completed the game.

AGS Games in Production / Re: Time Kid!
Fri 02/03/2007 18:13:08
Hello!

A quick update now, I think.

First of all, progress is moving fast. And Mark "m0ds" Lovegrove will be composing the soundtrack for the game. But since I am working on a mid April deadline, I am having to cut down on the amount of tracks that I would like to use in the game. I may make a Deluxe version in a few years time.

Graphics are getting better as the game moves on, though I may need a bit of help with them later on.

It's still aiming for a mid April release, or at least, all of the scripting and graphics, the music MIGHT take a little longer. But I would like to take what I have done by mid april to my Work Experience place, (which is an animation studios) so you will see the game soon. It will be finished. (Unlike some of my other attempts at game making).

And finally, here is a new screenshot of Jacob backstage of a 1600's performance of Shakespeare's Macbeth:

EDIT: Oh, I've also updated my site.

AGS Games in Production / Time Kid!

Fenton Games Entertainment Presents...

Fourteen year old Jacob Taylor was just your average teenage boy, into rock and pizza and girls...

...but his parents forced him to follow in his families footsteps, and become a historian. The single thing in life he doesn't want to be.

For the next six months, Jacob attended St. Henrys school of History and Fact, where his parents are also history teachers there, and failed all of his exams and tests. And just when he was about to be kicked out of school by his medieval teacher, Mr Henry, his parents found the solution to his success. Time Travel is possible...

But how, and when, and why was it possible? Jacob was thinking the same thing, but he steps into his time machine for the first time and tours the entire universe, from the past...

...to the future...

...and around space...

...and he realises. History isn't only books and reading, it's an adventure!

This game features a point and click interface with a resolution of 320x200. Cartoon style backgrounds and an original soundtrack, composed by Mark "m0ds" Lovegrove. Everything else made by James "fentonfilms" Fenton. Graphics made on Photoshop 9.0 and The Gimp. The game will be in the Short or Medium Length category. And hopefully, this can be the first game I will finish!

PROGRESS REPORT (Last updated 2nd March 2007)
Story - 99%
Graphics - 42%
Animation - 8%
Puzzles - 40%
Programming - 11%
Music - 0%

The game will be finished around April 2007. Visit my site here:

...or you can email me at james@fentonfilms.co.uk.

Bye!

UPDATE (2/3/07):
Mark "m0ds" Lovegrove has decided to compose for me, though since I am working on a deadline, he is having to make the music quickly and I've been having to cut down on the tracks that I would like in the game!Ã,  :)

Hello, everybody.

I have fixed my site, Erwin, but it is on a different subject now, another game. Let me just be clear that this game is ABSOLUTELY NOT cancelled. I am just going to work on some smaller games at the moment that will take less time to complete. After I release one of them, I'll follow the criticism I get and make the next game better. And the same with the next one. And so forth.
I just want to make this game as good as it can get. And I would like to release a game quite soon because I want to take it with me to my Work Experience place. You will hear about this game soon. So you probably won't hear anything from this thread for a few months, although I haven't had a lot of replies so far...

So, not cancelled, put on ice, shorter game coming soon.Ã,  :)

Bye!

fentonfilms.

EDIT: By the way. All of the artwork in the screenshots is OLD now.

Bye again!

Hi! I have a character sprite here for C+C.

This is a sprite for one of the main characters of my game, "Darren and James: The Fast Food Chase". The first image is the sprite itself and the second image is the character with a cartoon outline around the black lines, which is how all sprites will look. I drew the sprite originally by hand and scanned it into the computer and drew the sprite on the Gimp. I'm not sure if I like the image too much, so I would like constructive criticism on it. I would like the sprite to look like it could be from a cartoon TV show. How do you think this looks?

Idea: ildu - love all the signs in the foreground!
Atmosphere: zyndikate - Love the atmosphere!
Design: ProgZmax - looks like it could be from an old low colour game.
Composition: zyndikate - many objects are in the foreground. It's amazing. Characters are cool too.
Functionality: the vict0r - your blackground would add a lot of walkable area to the room.
Technique: zyndikate - Love the CMI technique. And you master it really well!
