Messages - Sleeping Turtle

I did a fast edit to give you some ideas on how to make him more masculine. When dealing on such a small scale the body will be what helps determine the sex of the character not the head.

P.S. I think the butt was just too big for a guy.

In no particular order.

Legend of the Lost Lagoon
Quest for Glory 2 VGA
Indiana Jones and the Fountain of Youth
The Family Treasure 2
Herman Toothrot's MONKEY ISLAND
Prototypical
The Revival of MI Project
Chronicles of the Red Knight
Apprentice: Checkmate
The Tapir's Quest

Sounds a lot like Adam West from Family Guy  ;D  :D ;) :) !

P.S. I would like to see that voice actor try to do Adam West. Imagine a Batman detective game in ags, that would rock!!

It is a trick by AGDI to get publicity for their upcoming game  :o. Surrounding something with controversy is technique used by many organizations to get people interested in something they normally wouldn't be interested in  ;D

All joking aside, I feel AGDI needs to view this as a blessing in disguise. Now some people are going to want to play the real game to see what the parody is parodizing (sp?).

I Kinda like him the way he is. I believe his arms are using a ball joint for movement.

Nice colors, but I still kinda prefer the green leaves.

I think it still looks weird with the short tail :)
It is edited a bit, but I still think it could be a bit bigger,
maybe use leafs for it?

Anyhoo,
I love your edit and I love the art!
Wish I could make something like it!!
Good luck!

I like the short tail; it makes the creature more original. Looking at the hooves it seems more related to the order that goats, deers, antelopes, ect... are in rather than that of horses (most animals in the order Artiodactyla have short tails). Check out these links http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloven-hoof or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artiodactyla .

On a side note, I saw a documentary on whether unicorns possible did exist and was just a species of animal made extinct by man, early depictions clearly showed that unicorns are not a kind of horse (order Perissodactyla) but a kind of Artiodactyla (goats, deers, pigs, and llamas are examples of animals from this order).

Don't forget to correct the perspective of the road to match that of the sidewalk (Meaning the painted lines should not look like perfect rectangles). I would suggest you take a peek at a tutorial on vanishing point to get a better idea of how to setup backgrounds for adventure games.

"stereotypically American"  ??? . Not sure what you mean, but Grub doesn't sound like a word typicaly used by people in the U.S. or at least the regions I have lived in/visited. I think of old world english when I hear that word (The age of sea Pirates  ;) ) . Grub'n'go makes me think of Fish'n'Chips which would be English. Maybe change it to Grab'n'go ???.

Maybe I am over analyzing it too much, since I am not sure as to what you are asking  ;D.

I have to agree on that I like Progz walk the most also.

Spoiler
Ps your characters still look like wangs to me.... I'm sorry I'm really trying not to. But... well... there you are.

Nah... Looks more like a condom. Maybe a way of fixing the original problem without changing the bottom is by making them less tall or their side less straight, thus they don't look so erect.

P.S. Not trying to be vulgar in anyway, but I can't think of any better words

The hair does look like something is laying on top of her head (like a hat) or she is bald on the back of her head. If she has pig tails perhaps put a bow on each one so people can tell her hair is pulled to the sides. If her hair is loose there should be no empty space behind her head unless she has some sort of future/punk hairdo. A quick edit, in which I am trying to emulate your style, to demonstrate my point.

Yeah, she was the inspiration. Somebody had posted an image from the original game and I decided to use her as the character to learn Sierra's VGA style. Here is a look at the side to side movement I was refering to (plus some shoulder movement).
#13
Thanks, would be glad to see what others take is on such movement. I am still experimenting and will hopefully get something that works  :).

I noticed the same problems, but could not resolve them myself. The chest movement was hard to decide on as I interpreted the dress to be the type that squeezes the torso in order to push up the bust. This lead me to think that bouncing may not be possible, so I tried side to side movement of the cloth over the chest (Couldn't work it out too well). The skirt movement I find very difficult to doÃ,  :-[ , but I can easily add some swaying to her hair. Any paint overs or pointers on movement are more than welcome.

I did this walk cycle a while ago, to test my skills. I need any advice/ideas to improve it.  The style I was going for at the time was that of a vga sierra game, but I am more skilled at snes style spriting.
