Updated with the new BG exteriors (in the first post)! I already make three of them, I'm working fast knowing the technic.... (thanks to the Critics Lounge guys!)

I'm continue searching for artist, there's a lot of BGs here!
#5
Anastronaut, Technobabylon, and any other cool graphic sci-fi game!!
#6
Well, this is how stands the thing now; The damaged signs of the ship is one thing to work with.

And this is another BG with the same rock and sand effect. I know this is not a great BG, but the "Path" only serve to stop the player to look at the horizon

I don't ask for advice in the horizon, but any general thougths could be great, So I'm sure there is some minor changes that can give a very better look.

After a lot of tries with differents brushes and posterior effect technics, I have no clue to make a so realistic sand xD

I finally decided to use your sand, Ilytch, and working in adapt the Darth Mandarb idea, and try to apply it in some way in the others 5 or 6 bgs with sand; I will post the result

I really like the sand of Ilych and adding details to make the crash more beliable, I was looking at my PSP (I use paint shop pro since the start of times) but I don't get the way to reproduce this sand effect myself.

In the first stage of my game, there is 15 screens and at least 8 of them has this type of sand (others will have dirt or will be a cave), so I need to reproduce the drawing technic (better or worst). Some tips of what types of brushes did you to used, or if you have painted areas of colors, noised, and effected somehow?

Lots of thanks!

Good advice guys, using some blend with the sand over the rocks...

Bill, How did you did the texture? I don't see a pattern...
#10
thanks! It's sure a good texture, with good color in comparation to the cliffs, but the problem is tottally flat, and the bg loses realism then... But I don't know how to imagine a way to give depth to the ground.... hum...

I'm trying to make myself the backgrounds to me new games so I don't get help to, I'm not really good in exteriors, so I need some advice.

Today I found the way to make the cliffs walls, Some parts are better and other worst, but well, I'm working on it.

But I need some advice in how to make the floor (sand, dirt)... I don't actually know a technic to make natural floor. The floor don't need to be regular (as you maybe guess), and as you maybe can see in the in-game sshot, don't need of walk areas neither, cause the game is in first person. I'm not really sure what technic to use... or how to make it sloopy and natural, blendind with the cliffs.... Some ideas?

(PS: The sky is obviusly in work, I will put in when I make another bg that have the horizon covering all the screen)

The BG:

the BG in game: (the left and upper part is too of the interface is too WIP)

thank you for your advices!!

EDIT:

This is how it goes right now, I think practically/nearby finished:

thank you guys, so servicial!

The second screenshot is awesome! Very forward to see next part of Technobabylon, the next philip.k.dick-novelesque number one background for movies!

I vote for mixing part 4 and 5, the larger the games, the better, for my taste!

I found the two links of this file down the past weeks and now, any chance to reupload the file?

Thanks!

I have achieved doing some good interiors, but I don't have a clue to do exteriors... And the work is overwhelming, only in the first part of this game, there are fifteen exteriors... If I want to make this game throught I will use some help. but well... It's nobody show up, I will have to do the exteriors, what can I do xD

When I finished doing all the first part of the game, If I do not have help I will start making the exteriors, but well... It gonna very slow down the game... And the last game took me 3 years to focus in nearby finishig it xD

Hope if someday I will take the bull by the horns and start trying to do a exterior, 'cause everytime I'm going to do I colapse xD
#16
It's a pity no ones offer his help, finally I would have to do the backgrounds and low the graphic quality of the game...

In the worst case scenario, i will be at your backs the next few months asking for support on backgrounds :P Let's see the result.. xD

Critics' Lounge / Re: RogerRevamp

I really like your spirte (And I must say Roger is one of my favourite characters), but I think the downcycle maybe moves to much, It's seems almost running (giant leaps, or speeding). I don't think in a normal lateral walkcycle anyone is gonna make the same quantity of movement...

I wasn't going to announce my new game so soon, but I'm in need of a background artist and the Search a Team thread is does'nt helpimg... So let's take a look people, so see If you liked it and want to participate.

Galactic Battlefare: Capital Choice
Part II.

Part I, here = http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=34663.0

First, a words about Part 1.

Part I is finished, I only need some tweaks on the script, and betatesting and launch it, So, It no depends totally from me right now. Meanwhile, I'm doing the second part, a totally different concept (first part was a traditional adventure game with fancy GUIs and some Arcade stages.

Part II take the game where it finishes, and I don't want to spoiler a game that is even unreleashed, so I will talk about a little what is about the new game.

Part II (Named; Survive!) is a first person RPG-text adventure with lot of graphics and objects (you even change clothes of the character to get different resistance to heat and protection). You need to drink, you need to eat, and you need to get shelter because is a Survival game. You will confront foes (in a text adventure manner, not a action arcade or rpg combat), and finally you will meet the unhabitants of the world and trade and argue with them.

this are some screenshots.

An image from introduction, telling you the past events of Part 1:

An image of the primal interface and first scene

A shot of the inventory and character profile (the outfit is wearing, with a mouseover information of his statistics) (the shot is old but more or less valid)

A promotional shot showing the different health status of the protagonist;

I will continue on search of background artists, cause I have a looot of BGs in this game!
so... there is the information of the Crew request!:
http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=36479.msg595317#msg595317

In short; a background artist than can make backgrounds in a style like mine more or less... There will be different style BG like caves, deep desert and Jungle, so others styles (Jungle over other things) are welcome!!

Thanks!

In my actual-past adventure I have a pair of Arcades (horizontal spaceship combat and asteorid dodging), but apart from simply don't let the player die, I don't know how to not give the option "let's the Automatic pilot do this part".

I've really problems figuring what difficulty to give to the game... when you beat the game you can repeat the arcades with different difficulties, but I don't know how exactly put them in the normal game being for all publics..

Searching Nature Background Artist for Galactic Battlefare Part II.

Hi! Meanwhile I'm finishing my first game (some touches here and there) I'm starting to make my second game (is the second part, but the style of the game is completely different.

this is how the game current aspect is:

As you can see, is a Text Adventure, but full of graphics, and movement based in a control pad. the graphics are mine, the natural backdrop is only for the tech work fo the game.

I need a Background artist, Is the only thing I need. The style could be varied, this is a preference of style, some classic Sierra/Lucas nature backgrounds
(like Kingquest IV-VI, Space quest IV-V, or Indiana jones and fate of atlantis...)

All the backgrounds aren't very complicated (there's 16 in total), the most of them are not much detailed nature; the theme is REd-yellowish High-attitude cliffs in an alien world. four or five are cavern interiors.

the backgrounds are 420x265 pixels.

The game will have more backgrounds, but different nature-themed, at first I only seek help for this 15 first simple cliffy backgrounds.

Please, tell me if you one to help in this project.

Thank you!
