General Discussion / Re: Family guy quotes
Thu 15/02/2007 15:17:03
I know i should probably quote from Family guy in this thread,

But it might be my only chance to tell you guys how much i hate it. The sense of humour doesn't appeal to me at all, not 'cause it's full of sarcasm and ironic jokes because i love dry humour. But just the way it's portrayed makes it so boring.

If there was a quote i'd enjoy from it, it'd be "Hey, This program sucks"

Well all i'm gonna say is poems don't actually always need to rhyme, so trying to rhyme words when you've ran out of ideas is probably the worst thing to do. I don't like the poem plain and simple. I'm not saying other people don't, But i don't ... Thats all.

I would say they are great. I would also say i think the living room furnishings need more shading to match up with the style of the outside, but other than that everything looks good

Wow, i mean, i was looking at the first ones you posted and i didn't understand what was going on. I haven't a keen eye for art whatsoever so i don't really care about what it actually means, because it looks like crap. I don't mean yours but just art in general and by art i mean the stuff you get in museums.

But this last one looks great and the meaning of it is great. It made me laugh and it's something i'd probably stick on a wall somewhere. I've got to say it's probably the only artwork i've ever really appreciated.

Ahh so you still have to buy them right? I just did a quick search i didn't check it out completely.
Anyway i said they were there i didn't say they were free. Even though HOTU does have alot of stuff that shouldn't be.

I didn't mean to copy what VintageDemon said, I guess i missed his post. I noticed alot of people said it's out there somewhere, but it's confirming the truthÃ,  ;D Anyway nevermind, who really cares that much. Maybe you do and i apologise.

I think Simon 1 & 2 is on Home of the Underdogs, i think it's DOS version though. But it's definately there. I used to have the Amiga versions in original when i was younger, but i would imagine they would be pretty rare.

EDIT: Oh no i just realised Vintage post after me...So i didn't copy him.. Nevermind.

How come when you pause time you don't pause yourself? Didn't think of that did you, but you did think about molecules...Ã,  ;)

Pausing time would probably pause yourself. It depends what exactly gets paused when time is paused....Time could be considered the fourth dimension of motion, in which case stopping time would stop everything, including yourself.

thank goodness i work in the realm of 3d where i dont need to worry about perspective

Amen! I've done alot of 3d modelling and it seems somehow easier to calculate in my mind than 2d perspectives.

I absolutely loved the Simon the Sorcerer games.... I used to have a Talky Simon The Sorceror version, with the voice of Chris Barry (Red Dwarf - Rimmer, Tomb Raider - Butler) as Simon, and all the NPC's had voices too, i thought it was pretty amazing.

I can't remember where i got it, but it's out there somewhere.

Yea cheers monkey, i've seen many diagrams like that in the past before they are really handy to work from. I just got a bit lazy i think. Well it was early morning when i drew the bathroom, 'cause like i said my other rooms look fine.

But this will help other people who read the post who don't know about vanishing points etc. So thanks.

Hehe, I like it, Shading is good. By hands do you mean trouble with your hands or the drawn ones. Nah just kidding, Yea i see that his hand is a bit weird looking, the best thing to probably do is just search "Cartoon Hands" on Googles images or something and just check out how they are drawn.

I'm not exactly very good at hands myself, so i'm sure someone can give you a quick guide on the best way to do them.

But overall it's pretty good.

Yea the head is very good and yes the body is too small, it looks like he has no shoulders at the moment

Thanks for the criticism guys,

No apologies needed Monkey, I knew something was completely screwed up with this room. The rest of the rooms in my game at least look normal. Don't know why i even messed this one up to be honest, just half asleep i guess. But i will sort it out.

I might add this game isn't meant to be creepy but for all you know the bathroom could start melting after you turn the taps on, which by the way it won't, it's not meant to be all nice and sweet fluffy bunnies either. Somewhere in the middle. Sort of like, A Normal day turns into a really annoying one because of certain cirumstances like Big Sudden Changes in the Law. Don't want to give too much away really.

I'll just start this room from scratch. It'll be alot easier than editing things and getting lost.
So thanks againÃ,  for all the pointers guys.

Monkey, could you tell me more about the scaling of Front & Back walls.Ã,
You mean if the Back wall is 100 Pixels wide, then the front should be 212 Pixels for example? It doesn't help that i never used this rule, I usually just guess. Which is probably where i went wrong

Finally....For that grey spray outline around the room, Well i added that for no reason at all, I thought it looked better than just complete darkness surrounding the room, Maybe i will figure out something better instead in the future...I'll have a look around for some typical ideas.

EDIT: Wow, i just compared my bathroom to my other rooms, which is something i didn't look at before, I realise that the floor is messed up completely, The bath is actually the size of the other rooms floor space, which is Huge...I think i got some major measurement issues here hehe. My eyes must've been like really weird this morning when i made the bathroom.

The perspective is very weird too look at. Like an optical illusion where you don't know if you are looking from the top or the bottum.

If that is how the whole game is, then....what about a sink? A toilet? Towel rack? Mirror? Soap-holder-thing?

Most of my rooms look this way when they are empty, but after i've added the things you mentioned it usually looks normal anyway.

No what i mean is the Bathtub on it's own, it needs something, maybe a re-shape/re-size something like that.... I've looked at pics of them on google images butÃ,  i didn't see any at this angle, and before you say it, the bathroom in my houseÃ,  is too small to get a good angle.

EDIT: Actually i see what you mean about the angle now... Maybe the floor is too big. But it should make sense when i add the sink to the back wall

Hi guys, i'm working on the bathroom & Final room of the house my character lives in, after this i can work on the world and other places,

I can't put my finger on it myself but i'm sure the bathtub has something that needs doing to it, apart from the Taps etc... any ideas guys?

Thanks

Yea i had to break into my own house after forgetting my keys,
I went around the back garden in search of something to open the door with.
I found a plant which was reasonably strong but bendy stalk.
I used it to  put through the letterbox and pull the latch down and finally i got in

Not really. Josh Homme was in both for their full runs and Nick Oliveri was in Kyuss for a bit and with QOTSA for two albums. But apart from that it's a completely different lineup - Homme never even sang in Kyuss!

No he didn't, but putting it simply and technically, which is what i was doing, i am not completely wrong.

Nice speech, it made a hell of alot of sense. You are totally right.

Has anyone done a Red Dwarf game?
I'd really love to see that. As for the Monk game, i'm guessing you mean that ex-detective guy, I love watching monk. Can't wait for the game.

I've never even heard of IMVU until now. But i'll just stick with what i know, I won't even bother reading about IMVU, just in case i like it. I don't want to like anything else at the moment  ;D
