Hints & Tips / Re: After a Shadow

Hi, I opened up the briefcase but the bag doesn't open... rather he can't open up the bag. I'm not sure what else to do, I've been everywhere and I can't find anything else

I don't think that the issue was lack of African American adventure developers. I think that it was the fact that early games, even some newer adventure games carry stereotypes of other ethnic groups. And it's not only African Americans, but also Latinos, Asians. You name it.

Well. I played Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic and my character was named Laril. She was my first Star Wars character so I decided I'd use her name with my birthdate November 1987, thus Larino87 was born. yeah

My absolute hated puzzles were almost all of them in Sherlock Holmes and the Mystery of the Mummy. I mean, even with help from my dad who's a teacher, and my brother who's basically smarter than me, I needed a walkthrough. They should say that you cant beat it yourself without at least some knowledge of Egypt. And I hate using a walkthrough, it just kills the fun for me. However, my favorite puzzles are in the Nancy Drew games (I count that as adventure) I don't remember a particular one because I have almost all the games but they're pretty easy and just challenging enough to make the game time lengthier yet I don't have to use a walkthrough. Oh, and how can I forget the Insult Swordfighting "puzzles" from Monkey Island, gotta love those. ;D

The Rumpus Room / Re: How did you find AGS?
Sun 20/05/2007 03:56:39
I was searching through the web for adventure games and I came across AGS. I thought I'd like to make my own game someday, just to prove that I could do it and for love of the genre. So, here I am. That was last year and I still don't have a game idea or even know how to use the engine. I was busy with school and teaching little kids piano, but the idea of my own game still stuck in my head and I had a lot of friends willing to help me with character ideas over instant messanger or the phone.

First AGS game I ever played was Kings Quest II VGA... that is an AGS game right? I played Kings Quest 7 but I never played 1-6. I think I played 5 days a Stranger after, I was so scared

Hmmm.. my favorite game? It would have to be Monkey Island 2, I didn't much care for the first one but it was good enough for me to want to continue playing the series.

Wow, I haven't really made a game yet or anything. I just messed around with AGS until I get an idea for one but I gotta say--looks wise-- this version looks a lot more easier to work with than 2.7 and prettier too... but that's just me
