@Grundi/Ben Re Episode 68: Why go to GDC? Because damn you can get inspired (at least I was immensely inspired) by many many talks. Let's see for how long!
And congrats on the Moriarty-mention, didn't catch that one on Twitter.

Keep it up guys!

Wow guys these look f***** amazing. Can't wait to check them out once I'm home.

Yeah well. I'm not gonna make it on time D: It was probably a stupid idea in the first place to try and finish while attending a conference but you never know, right? So sorry for that. :(

Looking forward to playing the entries though!!!

Mini Update.
My game (working title Ten Weeks) is about a mom and her family. It's her that loses something. Have a gif:

wow wow wow. Looking sooo good. The backdrops and variation on camera angle work really well. This is giving me a strong True Detective vibe. Csnt wait to see more.

Heyyyyyyyyyyyy,
nice looking entries here already! I'm joining this month as well.
Here's what I have so far, apart from a vague idea what it's going to be about:

As it's already late it's probably going to be single-screen but oh well.

Work work work :)

Looks good. I really like the look.
Wondering whether the format will be as poetic as your description because I think that would be totally rad :)

Keep it up! (nod)

General Discussion / GDC 2015 Let's meet!
Wed 11/02/2015 09:11:02
Hey guys and gals!
I was wondering whether some of you are going to be at GDC in San Francisco this year. If so I suggest we meet up.
Now you may very well be asking yourself who is that dude? You're right (see bottom of this post)!

I know Grundislav and Resulka will be there. And I'm sure some of you are going to be there as well. I'd love to meet and talk to you!

So whaddaya say?

AGS GDC '15 Meetup?

Postifx:
I'm basically not an active participant of this wonderful community :(, however I've been using AGS for quite some time now (I'm making The Lion's Song and have made a few other small games in the past. ) Plus I'm really passionate about narrative games.

Thanks for the kind words.
I just wanted to say that I'd also be very happy about any comments/critiques or suggestions regarding the game/demo. I'd really love to hear what you guys are thinking. Maybe there's some obvious thing I could improve (apart from the points I'm planning to improve) but don't see?

The Lion's Song
A point & click short story set in the Austrian Alps (and a single room @Darth ;)). You play as Wilma, a composer fresh off of the Viennese University, who has lost her inspiration. Her mentor sends her up to a recluse cabin in the Alps, her sole connection to the outside world being a telephone. But somehow even solitude doesn't spark her imagination. Will she regain it?

Features:

  • A single room
  • No puzzles
  • Lot's of conversation

I made the initial version (or demo version) of this game as part of Ludum Dare 30 and am now extending and polishing it. Currently I am planning to add more dialog and emotions. One other main goal at the moment is to integrate more music and sound effects (you'll see what I mean by that after playing the demo).

The Ludum Dare version (which from now on I shall call "DEMO") is available here:

I think this competition turned out reaally great! Those are all good-looking and creative entries and the paritcipation rate was awesome. I had a lot of fun with this.

@SpacePirateCaine: Since it wasn't an entry that's okay - would be weird anyway next to all those CopyCats ;).

Edit: Sorry to everyone, I missed out the part of only one per person. So consider the following as no official entry...
Spoiler

Beware the Sports Pros of rivaling Camp Capital. (not an entry - just for the fun of it)
http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/7809/norah.png

This is Norah Moses, the Badminton Ace of Camp Capital. A lot of things can happen in one summer. And the summers before her dad found out about her talent she too was a Copycat. But things change, and even a children's romance fades in the slight breezes of long past summers. Or didn't it?

Call him Link. He's da cool kid of the camp - cold as ice. One of Mike's pals - yet always a little distant, well just cool I guess.

Edit: Sorry, I just had to edit him because I thought his head wasn't fitting the style - so I updated him and made the head a little bigger. I think it's better now ... Don't hurt me :/

I think there might be issues with the sizes in your scene. Maybe it'd help if you worked with the actual size of your character to make sure that everything is the size it should be (unless it already is if you're heading for a very stylized ... erm ... style). ;)

Anyway, I took your scene and 'painted' some rather rough sizes in.

and a quick paintover with some text in it

Awesome - although i ain't got no time I think of actually entering this month. That topic is sure as hell great!

Since you can't move until the truck is up and running again, you need to think of a new way to ignite the motor -> if you have a lightbulb try using the wires on it -> then give it to luigi- he'll know what to do

I listened to Lux aeterna, and the first impression was - what the f... ?! That song sounds really good - not like mine ;D.
Those two pieces of music sound similar - but I hear significant differences when I listen closely. The strings in my piece of music are higher and the descension within the main "riff" that the strings play is a slighter one than in Lux Aeterna. Then there is the harp which could be identified with the xylophone in my song, but they play two different melodies.
Nevertheless, I was really freaked out when i listened to the music at first!  :o

I actually "composed" the music myself. Don't know Requiem for a Dream at all - is that kind of a movie?

Have you talked to Anja?
Spoiler
She's in the right tent. Then theres something by the truck under the tarpaulin.
There is only this one room. You can enter the right tent by interacting with it.
