Congratulations!  From some of the comments I was beginning to think I might have made the game too difficult, but obviously not.

For those of you still struggling on Chapter 3, I'll try to make a few things clear.  The patch that gives you more time to complete the chapter only works if you re-play the game from the last save in Chapter 2.  This is because the game sets the timer for Chapter 3 before saving the start of the chapter, so if you load a previously saved version it will still have the old timer setting.

At the beginning of the chapter the web is small and the timer starts running.  When a certain time has passed, the web begins to grow until it reaches down to the ground.  The secret of success is to get to the web with the handle as quickly as possible.  The reason for following the sequence below is because it is the quickest way to to it.  From the start, walk directly to the Regal Plumnon tree (with purple fruit), eat a fruit, run to the statue and take the key.  Before closing Jack's bundle, take the key and click it on the gate.  Go through the gate and run to the shed to collect the handle (you do not need to use it on the tap - turning off the fountain has no effect on the web) run back to the gate and on to the spider tree.  You should reach it with just enough time for Jack to slip underneath it.

The right order of the tiles is also displayed in the room before the library, though the images are not very clear.

I did try all tiles but no luck. Are you start left to right or up down and can you tell the with one you have to start ( Aries ?).

I didn't pick up the lantern in chapter 1. (I did once, but kept having to go back to old savegames when the ghosts kept killing me.) Now I am walking around in the dark and keep getting killed.

Is this a walking dead, or is there another solution?

well, I have finally seen the web small, but no matter what I do...cpukiller, change settings in setup, as soon as I enter the room with the web, it gets big again. do you think it is the patch? has anyone cleared it without the patch? thanks. resa

About the save games, which chapters did you finish? Perhaps somebody can help with savegames and a new "start.dat".

Good luck everybody. I had to quit. I accidently deleted my saved games, and when I restarted, reading the book in chapter one doesn't deter the ghosts anymore and they keep getting me. Good game. Maybe I will try again some other time. Thanks for all your help. 

I really like the game. I am glad that it is challenging. The graphics are beautiful. Faster walking would be nice, but I am glad that I can point to a space and he walks there rather than having to keep clicking. If I ever get out of the garden, I am sure it will be wonderful. Good work.

I have started over, started in the middle, started over, I watch the spiders, read the plaque, eat the fruit, get the key, go to the shack, get the handle. I have turned the water on and off, and sometimes not, got back, and the web is always the same. I have the patch. I always arrive with time to spare, but the web never changes. Please help. Am I missing a step? Do  I need to even do anything with the fountain?

I have started chapter 3 over 5 times, I went to the tree, ate the fruit, got the key, opened the door,went to the barn and got the crank. I made it back to the web in enough time ( Jack was still going fast from eating the fruit) but the spider web still gets me every time!

Are you still on an earlier version of the game?  Following an email discussion with Zargblast it became obvious that some PCs ran the timer too fast to be able to complete the chapter, though I had done so on 2 different machines and I am not the quickest gamer in the world (in shooting games I never survive very long!).  Also I do not understand why the timer runs at different speeds on different PCs (see my ealier post above).

I decided to update the game with a slower timer and a couple of extra hints to help gamers understand what they need to do.  A patch is available to update the game to version 1b (see my post on the Completed Games thread).  In this slower version I can complete the chapter with time to spare!

I'm sorry that so many of you seem to be having trouble with this chapter.

Same here....I have never seen the web small, or gotten back in enough time.....I really don't think it should be easy.....but I am beginnning to think it just doesn't work on my machine!!

Seriously, I can't get out of the garden. I have read the hints and cheats.....i have eaten everything....turned handles.....ran.....but the web is always the same size.....i know i am missing something.....Also, I don't know how to post with the secret spoiler area......I am new to posting....used to just read and play.....thanks.
