Ah yeah, the video quality is much better now.

Great work with all this, 12 videos already! You're making them faster than I can watch them at the moment :)

Keep watching mate and one day you'll learn how to use the program ;)

Love the big sprites, and the overall style. Replied to your PM :) Hope I can help...

Wow it's been a while since I've been here! :) Have a bit of spare time at the moment, so I'm happy to help out in a limited capacity; with what I've been doing professionally... acting. Specifically:

Voice Acting (w00t) - Most accents/styles aren't a problem, if you've got a game that you feel could be enhanced by some good voice work, I have a very nice pro setup and am happy to help develop your characters' voices until we find something we're both happy with. Chuck me a private message or email me: James at BrokenPipeFilms.com

It's nice to have the time to take part again :D

Hairdressers sell it.

Nellie, fraid there's no-where else to get it but Boomtown... I had another mirror when the demo was first released, but he took it down because it was sapping all his bandwidth.

What's the problem with signing up to Boomtown anyway? I work for em and can assure you won't get any spam... Besides, you could put fake information in there anyway...

Boomtown's a great host for me though, because they've said they'll host the full game no matter the end size. If hosting the file there influences the voting, I'll be very disappointed :( Still, I'm interested to know why you're against the sign up to Boomtown?

Okay, whipped up two versions... because you really gave me very little to work with for the 'scary' song, I felt that it could be played two ways...

1. The scary part is an ominous fear of what might happen style track, for which I borrowed a rather cool section from the Unbreakable soundtrack.

2. The scary part is a running away from evil style track, for which I borrowed a nasty section from the Silent Hill 2 soundtrack. Both versions are included in the zip downloadble from here:

Hope this is what you're looking for (and that you can get it on CD okay) :) Perhaps given a chance to actually talk to you properly about it I could have come up with something better, but I'm happy with the transitions...

Let me know how it turns out :)

I'm on it ;) YakSpit, come to IRC #ags if you've already started it, so we don't both have to do it, but I'm talking to the Yufster about it now, so you don't need to worry.

Surely it'll be just as easy for the author of the original post to do that when he's got an answer that works for him... no extra work for the mods, and aside from a little extra forum etiquette to learn, it shouldn't be hard for the authors. Perhaps it could be added to the forum rules. When people start seeing it, they'll get it!

You can jump to specific patterns in mod files I believe, but I requested a while back the ability to jump to a pattern once the current pattern is over, so that much like the Unreal engine you can create totally dynamic music that seamlessly transitions from one section to another. Then I realised that it wouldn't add much to the current tech, especially since cross fading between tracks gives a decent enough effect.

In short, musically, AGS is very strong, so with ogg, midi and the current mod capability, you should be able to sort out what you need. Remember that you could write in a tempo command into a specific pattern and just jump to it :)

Undetermined at the moment... It does take a rather lon time to produce because of the CG backgrounds and various other issues that should be a nice surprise in the final game, but I now have a little help with backgrounds that should speed up production.

I wouldn't hold your breath, but an AGS Award for best demo could be the adequate motivation needed to ignore everything else in my life and just make this game ;)

Seriously, there's pimping and there's too much pimping.

Slightly more sensible, and in my sig so I don't have to do anything other than post :)

The Rumpus Room / Re:Abandonware

The few games developers that can and have released old games (Rockstar, Revolution etcetc.) really understand how much of a boost it is to their name as well as potential future projects... Codemasters said that they'd release some of their games for free a while back, but I haven't seen any...

This topic interests me because I'm currently compiling an article about free games (i.e. what should be done to abandonware games, devs giving them out for free).

I played a game like this at ECTS only it used a wireless paddle that you had to move instead of the visual representation... Really awesome!

50%... Dead on half way... I'm standing on a knife edge, with the potential to be pushed into the abyss...

Not sure which abyss, but I enjoyed the 50% impurity, so I'll probably jump off myself.

Any random voices not voiced by the actual people I'll be happy to volunteer for :)

I've already been dragged into this, so I might as well comment on the game... any small niggles that I had with the game I told Vel personally, such as the unskippable dialogue and the About bug which have now been fixed.  I did enjoy the plot and the way it was all laid out, though of course more puzzles would make a better game. In terms of an interactive movie though I felt it was pretty strong.

Perhaps more could have been made of the reaper ending which did seem a little tacked on and ultimately reminded me of the TV show 'Dead Like Me' which is certainly in need of an adventure game being made out of it ;) I don't think anyone can deny that they appreciated that autosave at the end either.

Vel, you do have to learn to take critisism in the light in which it is intended, and certainly not to get so competitive that you badmouth other games to make your own look better. Remember that everyone will see varying amounts of good and bad in each game they play, and undeniably some will like and some will dislike a project like this that is a step away from the standard adventure game that this community is centered around.

Still, it's clear that a lot of effort has been put into the game, and I did enjoy it, so nice one.

Well I was born a few days ago, so if my spelling's a little off, that's my excuse. I learnt to breathe pretty easily, so AGS was a simple step up from that.

Yes I'm bored... (and putting off work)

Whenever I get a new game, I always have to play it right away... I used to always read the manuals fully before starting it at all, but that's changed recently... I guess when I was younger it would be the kind of thing that would take my attention on the car journey home, but now I play so many games that I just don't really have time to read the manual unless I come across something that I couldn't work out without it. Infact, many of the games I play, I don't have the manuals to (no, not because of warez or anything like that, but because I'm a games reviewer and many press copies have no manual with them - another reason why I play so many games).

Strangely though I do try and get through all of the games I play, at least if only once, even after I've reviewed it if it's an especially long game. I'd say 95% of the games I play I complete, and the other 5% are probably vague about the 'ending' or just so bad that I can't wait to leave them alone after I've played it enough to review it.

Quite a lot more modern games have in-game tutorials now though, so you rarely are required to read the manual either. Even the complicated Final Fantasy games tend to have some kind of tutorial system in-game that can guide you quite successfully through.

I'll shut up now, especially since I'm just putting off writing up my review of another game that I really should get written tonight.

The single line that I can pick out in any games that haven't already been mentioned (probably wouldn't have thought of them otherwise) is this little one liner from Broken Sword.

"He looked at me as though I'd farted at a funeral."

It was just so funny because it was such a lightly humourous game while retaining a serious tone... That one just caught me off guard.
