Hey Tomus,

Sorry to hear that you are no longer reviewing for Plne Hry.Ã,  Even though I was unable to read the reviews, it seemed to have the most comprehensive amateur game news on the internet.Ã,  It really had its finger on the pulse of the scene.Ã,  Glad to hear you are still writing though.Ã,  Best of luck with whatever you end up doing! :)

It was my decision and I have still great relationship with the company - but money is what matters nowadays and I've got an offer I couldn't refuse, really... :)

I don't think the folks at Plne Hry know about RON, or Instagame for that matter.Ã,  Their "Postman Only Dies Once" review obviously judged the game as a single entity as opposed to one in a series.Ã,  Although quite a bit of time has passed since then so who knows?

You're right, when writing the Postman Only Dies Once review, I didn't know anything about the RON world. But it's a long time and I've learned, what mysterious letters like RON or MAGS means - I was recently quite surprised only by the Maniac Mansion Mania games...

And for your orientation on the czech scene - I'm no longer reviewing adventure games on PlneHry.cz (Jaz was supposed to do this, but he failed in communication with the chief editor of the site :)), I'm now responsible for the Hrej.cz reviews (click on the green button with a sign "Plné hry" to get into the freeware section, which is my own work). But I have to warn you:
- it is a web, where many people with little knowledge of amateur games goes, so I have to write at a less deep level, that I'd like to
- it is more a database of games to download than a real critical web - if you want to read complex reviews, try PlneHry.cz or FreeGame.cz (but they don't review adventures much, till I left). You can judge from the size - 1000 letters is not very much to do deeper interpretations...

I'm not able to finish the game. I have - a bit violently - passed the "herring" knight, I have
the pixy in the bottle, apple and ring, but don't know what to do now, the king doesn't want to talk with me... am I supposed to kill the pixy somehow?

Edited: sorry, got it...

I have absolutely no idea what to do when I search the bodies, find the second part of the letter and go up - the murderer goes upon me, I run to the house of the farmer and then every time I exit the screen, I get shot - where can I hide???

As other people in this post, I have to admit BJ3 really got me. I quite liked the first and the second one, but the third case is much more X-Files like and intriguing. If I was the author, I'd be mad from all the "I can't wait for BJ4, make it faster, larger, better..." messages, but in fact, I feel it like this too  ;).

Anyways - solid work. Expect a review in czech at http://plnehry.idnes.cz soon. It's written already and it only waits to be published, because we have a bunch of articles right now...

Wow! Thank you so much! This review rocks! It's encouraging me to make a Puddy Penguin 2 one day ;) I love you forever, jaz!

I should make a better, and less annoying music-theme, and better interface ;) I had only one month :) Though I don't think it's one of the best ags-games, just maybe original.

There's a new project of me now in heavy development, but besides that I'm going to look if I can make it work PUDDY PENGUIN II ;D

I'd love to see Puddy 2 as a non-MAGS full lenght game...  ;)

WOW!!! There is also a review about my game Puddy Penguin! I would love to understand what they are saying about it. I don't mind if it's bad, but I never had any review on my game before!

http://plnehry.idnes.cz/adventure/puddy.html

Jaz, would you be so sweet to translate it for me, please! You would be my hero, and if you ever need anything like music, graphics, sounds, voices... I'll be there to help you out! ;)  I'm really flattered that someone wrote a review about my game :P

Don't worry too much, as long as I can remember, it was quite positive, because Puddy is one of the very best MAGS games...

Hi Tomus,

I know you wrote the reviews, I just didn't feel it was necessary to tell the others you are a forum member. I buy Level from time to time, mostly because of your page since I almost lost interest in today's gaming mainstream. You do a really good job.
As for the translations, there is one more thread with a couple more reviews. It was called "Foreign AGS reviews" or something like that. If you want to post them, go ahead, but it would be better to proofread them first because I did the translations mostly in a hurry and I'm aware of many typos and grammar mistakes. You could post here or PM me if you want.

jaz

I still can't find the thread you're talking about...

I'd just like to say I don't hold anything against you for the review of Novo Mestro, I just hope you realise it's meant to be a joke now :)

Hm... The thing is I didn't really get the point, so I apologise... writing a review was a mistake, because even the readers were not too interested in Novo Mestro...

And I can clearly see I should try the game again - maybe I'll understand it now :)

I'm trying to have at least one adventure review on plnehry.cz each week, but I don't review only the AGS ones. But for example, tomorrow I'll publish A Friend Indeed review and I plan to write about some other games, such as Duzz Quest, Garfield, Perils of Poom...

I write also for a paper mag Level and I have a lot of other activities, so I put in the first place the games where a walkhthrough of some kind is available - it's not because of my laziness or lack of intelligence, but I hate wasting time when I got stuck... hm... I generally hate getting stuck! :-)

So if you want to increase your chance of being published on Plnehry and getting about 2-3 000 people who'll read and maybe also download your game, you can post it on http://plnehry.idnes.cz/lokace.html (it's simple, you'll understand it even it's not in English) and send me a solution to tomus@bonusweb.cz :-)))))

And Jaz, if you could copy your other translations of my articles here, it would be great, I'd like very much to read them. And maybe I could post them also on some special page on the web, I have to think about it and how to realize it...

WOW, great work, jaz! I appreciate your translating efforts....

I'm the author of the czech reviews at Plnehry.cz. I'm also active at the AGS scene - I voted in the AGS Awards and I visit these forums often. But I don't have enough time to do these translations on my own - and also my English isn't as good as Jaz's, so - thanks! :-)

Spoiler

Try different kinds of interaction with the bear and with the work shoes at the right side of the room - there are a few things hidden in them... And for now, always remember: this game ISN'T logic. Sorry. :)

Marion Software is pleased to announce, that we finished works on a short adventure game THE HOP GARDEN (or CHMELNICA in czech original).

About the story: The game tells the story of a student Honza Majer, who subscibes himself to the hop brigade. When he arrives, he discovers, that the work is too hard and not very well paid and decides to get out as soon as possible...

Features:

- 640x480 3D rendered graphics in 3D MAX
- 3 short chapters
- animated characters made with Poser
- humorous dialogs
- about 10-20 minutes of gameplay

If you speak czech, we recommend you the original version. Our English and German aren't perfect :-)

Here you have some sample screens:

The game itself is available to download from

http://marionsoft.gamecode.cz/setup.exe

WARNING: The game has meta-logical puzzles. Don't get frustrated by not being able to get out of the first room - just try even the most crazy combinations... remember, that the script was written after a really-really-really-very-long visit in pub. We recommend to drink at least one beer before playing...  ;)

It's really amazing. It's one of the greatest looking amateur games in production. Maybe Shadowplay will be comparable with its pencil backgrounds, but this is really breathtaking.

I have to agree with the audience here. I have recently finished Grr! Bearly Sane and I appreciated much the anger meter feature and the atmosphere of the game. I think making a sequel is a great idea, but you should keep the game concentrated just in a few locations with high number of hotspots, characters and possible interactions, which fits the style most.

So the character is here too... please send your comments...
