And to add gluttony, there's even a video-trailer!

Quote from: PLOTLargo Lagrande experiment succeeded in 1655 and brought to the opening of some interdimensional portals that changed the trend of the future.
This event was starting a multitude of time paradoxes which results was a chain reaction that unravelled the very fabric of the space-time continuum and destroied the dimensions entire universe.
Now, all those realities and dimensions are in a danger... only restoring the nature of the multiverse, order will be restablished.

With the consent of the author Daniele82, after the success of his previous fangame Back To The Future Part III - Timeline Of Monkey Island, I also report the FOLLOW-UP (and the conclusion) of the saga!

This morning I have the pleasure to introduce you:

Back to the Future Part IV
The Multitasking crystal

QuoteDoc and Marty are back from the misadventure that has transported them, thanks to the time machine, in an imaginative archipelago in the Caribbean in the time of pirates.
Doc must fix the captured spirit of Tannen Dogfish among the professionals of the paranormal, the Ghostbusters, while Marty, upon returning home, runs into absurd circumstances.
The experiment of an eccentric scientist will complicate the situation, accidentally tearing the plot between the universes and attracting entities from other worlds and alien races eager to invade the reality we know.
Once again it will be up to Marty, overwhelmed by the events, to have to travel between ages and distant destinations to find the fragments of a portentous crystal in a desperate attempt to re-establish the normal flow of the space-time continuum and finally mend the tear in the fabric of the universe. But this time Marty will be helped by some of the brightest and craziest minds on the planet.
Among amazing cameos, incredible locations, bizarre characters and brainy puzzles, go into this new crazy adventure full of irony and absurdity for real videogame maniacs, TV series and cult movies!!

A Daniele Spadoni Production

I think it's right to supplement the above with this succulent news.

This time Daniele82 didn't do everything by himself, but he also availed himself of the collaboration of Simone Scopa, of the GhostBusters Italian Cultural Association, who has already been his collaborator for the Zak McKraken's fan film, for the thirtieth anniversary of the famous game.

Since Simone has previously prepared a PERFECT presentation for the release of the game, I copy it below (translated from Italian language) for the happiness of all fans!

QuoteToday, May 14, George Lucas and Robert Lee Zemeckis are celebrating their birthday and today has been published a game that unites them, namely the fan Game "Back to the Future Part IV - The Multitasking crystal", the sequel to the popular Fan Game "Back to the Future Part III: Timeline of Monkey Island", with many new weirdos and cameos for real nerds and fans of games, including important references to the universe Lucas Arts, Back to the Future, Ghostbusters and many high cinema, television and video game sagas that we do not mention not to spoil too much the contents of this new graphic adventure point and click.

Result of a story written by Daniele Spadoni and Simone Scopa, the sequel made by the Spadoni brothers will test you in helping the young "Marty" and some of the brightest minds on the planet in an attempt to save the world from a serious threat ... never the space-time continuum will be at risk like this time!

…

The fan game is free!!!

Have fun and let us know in the comments what you think!

Have I "gluttonized" you enough?  :D

Then run and download it!

Hi, guys!

As you can see from the link that Cyrus wrote in the previous post, I am also interested in the "resurrection" of this project.

Updating a source code of an old game made with AGS is possible!!!  :cheesy:

Unfortunately, however, it is necessary to perform several steps, several updates (and related "adjustments")  from one version to the next.

This is covered in this page of the AGS manual:

https://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/manual/index.html

... all the steps to do are these:
Upgrading to AGS 2.7
Upgrading to AGS 2.71
Upgrading to AGS 3.0
Upgrading to AGS 3.1
Upgrading to AGS 3.2
Upgrading to AGS 3.3
Upgrading to AGS 3.3.5
Upgrading to AGS 3.4
Upgrading to AGS 3.4.1

In order to achieve the necessary goal for SeBel to resume production of the game, which is currently pending but is already achieved until the second chapter, all work must be updated starting from AGS version 2.70!

You can understand how problematic this is!

A tool that would check every AGS game release and then upgrade everything (from that AGS release on) AUTOMATICALLY would be REALLY useful!

And not only for this project, but even for all the others of which the authors would like to upgrade, or resurrect and complete some old game! And even for the games that are no longer playable in PCs with the new operating systems.

And since in old AGS releases was possible to update the games at least from the previous version, I think it would be "easy" to "recover" all those "script-possibilities" and realize a tool that includes everything (obviously for the ones who are competent in programming!).

What do you think? Don't you think that such a tool could be useful to everyone, not just SeBel?

And if so, is there someone competent enough in programming who can make this wish come true?

We are waiting for your comments, keeping our fingers crossed, waiting for positive news!  ;-D

WOW! :D

Thank you a lot for your replies, and THANK YOU for all your hints and for the link, adm244!

A big HUG for everyone from Italy!

Good morning, everyone!  ;)

By now I think you all know me: in Italy, together with a small group of other fans, we make the Italian translation of the fangames made with AGS (so NOT commercial), related to the famous games from LucasArts.

To achieve this goal, first we contact the specific author to ask him for permission to do our work.

In addition, we do not ONLY translate the text into Italian, but also the graphics, and in addition we test the game to find any programming bugs, implement the possibility of further translations into other languages, and update the game to the current version of AGS. And all for FREE!

Possibly all this with the active collaboration of the author himself.

Once finished the work, we submit the final result to the author, so that he can check it (maybe through a friend who knows the Italian language) and finally give us the final OK for the publication in favor of all fans!

Obviously, in the end we give back to the author the "new" source code with all the improvements and updates made!

To make a project as I've described it, it's obvious that we need the game's source code.

Unfortunately, that source code has often been lost (deletion, PC crashes, etc.).

With the author's permission, in some cases we were able to rebuild the original source code starting from what little we can decompile using AGS Tools.

But it is obvious that without the source we can' t have a result as we propose.

So it is NECESSARY that the author shares with us the source code of the game, when it still exists, or permission to rebuild it if it is feasible.

Spoiler
It 's also happened that some authors, although not pleased to share the source code, has however worked together with us for the realization of the multilanguage version of his game, providing to perform the various corrections and implementations suggested by us, in first person.
[close]

So it's the first thing we ask for, along with his authorization.

This is the practice we use for each work, and I think it is as ethical as possible, respecting both the author, the game, and the fans who use our work for free.

Spoiler
Also the care with which we test each game has meant that several new authors have asked for our collaboration for their NEW game in production! And this is ENORMALLY rewarding! But this is another speech...
And then lately, since we have built a certain "notoriety" between the various forums, the projects to do have accumulated, and then I apologize to the various authors who have not yet gratified of our work, since it is on the waiting list.
[close]

The experience we have gained in dealing with these objectives from time to time is always different.

- Several of the authors of those fangames are literally very enthusiastic about our idea of translating their game, and even felt honored that we had chosen their work for our goal.
- Still others have always been indifferent (especially for works made many years ago), and so while not denying permission, they are completely disinterested in the thing.
- Other people have declined our offer in case of demos of projects left in the drawer for many years, saying that the demo is not the complete game they have in mind, and then they would evaluate the thing ONLY after the completion of the work (which to date has never happened).
- Still others have told us that, having put so much energy and so much expertise into making the game, they would not be happy to share the source code with the fear that others might "steal" all that expertise.
- In addition, others have shielded themselves behind the "copyright" (???).
- Finally, others never answered.

Fortunately, the majority of authors fall into the first case, but I still can't explain the reasons for the other cases by the authors. After all, we're talking about amateur video games that are YEARS old! Who knows? Maybe some of you can give me some plausible explanations!

But if the Russian guys of the link posted by "StillInThe90s" would like to share with us their "secrets", or at least to extract for us the source code of each game that we would submit to them with the permission of the author (if they do not want to reveal us their secrets), this would make easier all the necessary work!

We would be very happy and grateful for that! In case, please, PM me, OK?

I take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy Holidays and a new FANTASTIC year 2019, full of games!  :-D

Hello Danvzare, and you all! :D

Along with the translation and updating work on this game, utdefault has also implemented the "MultiLanguage" option, so that additional translations can be created and added.

This is a precise organizational choice for all our translation works, in order to stimulate collaboration and interaction between different authors, fans and forums from around the world!

Come on, guys, get on with it! If you like, get into the game as a translator for all the fans in your Country!
Just get in touch with the author (ConeRX from the Maniac Mansion Mania forum) or even with the Monkey Island World Forum, listed among the credits in the presentation topic from Blackmonkey!

Hi folks! :D

Excuse me if this is not the right section where to ask this thing...
In case I authorize those who are competent to move the thread.

I do not know if it is necessary to point this out to you, I hope that this will be useful.

I noticed one thing: unlike previous versions of AGS, if I play a game created with the AGS 340 full screen, and then for whatever reason I had to put it in the icon, when I restore the full screen game, it will ONLY be displayed in window mode!
In addition, outside that window mode, it is impossible for me to use the mouse for other functions: I'm forced to get out of the game!

I was told to set the Winsetup.exe by removing the tick from "Side borders on widescreen monitors.".
In this way everything works well, but I don't know if this can be considered a "bug".

I thank you in advantage.

Have a nice day.

Good day to all, boys and girls!

The international cooperation between the various forums is working GREAT!

Thank to Cireja, from the Spanish forum of AbandonSocios, now this game has also his SPANISH LANGUAGE VERSION!

We from the Monkey Island World Forum are delighted by these collaborations!

The link to download the new release is the same!

Have fun! :cheesy:

Hi folks! :D

I'm one of the guys who collaborated to realize the translation of this old fangame!

It is NOT a copy of the original "secret of Monkey island"! It is an all different story: the first part of a new fangame.

Is this enough as a "surprise"? (laugh)

Seriously, it's really very nice. try it!

For the ones who might be interested, it is available the source code, so that it may also be translated into other languages (English, French, Spanish ...)

Enjoy!

Adventure Related Talk & Chat / Translations
Tue 18/03/2014 07:58:17
Hello everyone !

Thanks to the quality of the games made by the users of this forum, and to their creativity, I saw several fans from all the world, asking permission to translate the specific games in other languages.

But it often happens that over time, the creators of the games are no longer available, or unfortunately, due to formatting or computer-crash, have lost the source code of their work.

Is it possible for authors of various games (non-commercial, of course), report directly the will to allow (or not) the translation of their games in other languages†‹†‹, to backup the source files for this possibility, or even put them freely available with the game, as has already been done sometimes in the past?

I apologize if I stepped in, and I thank everyone in advance for any comments.

Hi Rulaman!

May you re-upload the Version 1.1.0.0, please?

The download does not work...

Beginners' Technical Questions / Global script
Thu 01/08/2013 11:42:57
Hi boys and girls!

I'm Italian, excuse me for my English: I'm not so good...

I would like to recover an old AGS game, but it seems that the "global script" is corrupted (sigh..).

[imgzoom]http://oldgames.arena80.it/arenauta13/varie/klon-02.JPG[/imgzoom]

So is what AGS says; every other thing is present and OK.

The questions are:

1) which is (or which are) the file(s) of the global script?
2) Is there a function that "rebuilds" the global script?
3) If yes, I can do this only with the new AGS release, or I can do it even with the version with which the game has originally created?

Can you help me, please?

I thank you in advantage!

Excuse me, I was confused with these other games:

- Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis (LucasArts)
- Indiana Jones - Fate of Atlantis II (AmberFishArts)

Instead it is a different game! :-) WOW
