Unfortunate. But I would have loved to see a screen capture of that game...with all those cups. Insane.

Advanced Technical Forum / Fonts issue

I cannot seem to get standard ttf fonts imported into AGS. I've read up about Radiant's Font editor, but before I spent a lot of effort unnecessarily I wanted to check here first. Of the fonts listed below, is there an AGS ready equivalent?

http://www.dafont.com/adore64.font
http://www.dafont.com/bf-mnemonika-regular.font
http://www.dafont.com/pf-ronda-seven.font

Any help would be appreciated.

Promising. My single issue is that of pixel density. Two different resolutions and pixel sizes. If anything, the log should have the larger pixels as its closest to the foreground.

When it comes to the "Why make sequels/remakes at all.." argument. Fans remake and make fan sequels to games they love for many of the same reasons that the big companies used to make sequels to their games.

Should Monkey Island have stopped after the first game? Or Quest for Glory? There is something great about these games that people crave to see more of it.

Its a shame situations like these occur. Thankfully for all the Indy fans, Lucasarts seems more relaxed on this nowadays.

I was curious, were you intending on utilizing any type of shading?

Here is an example from pixeljoint, dithering to fool shades of gray, and textures.

I've always liked to use the word Immersion to describe what it means to me.

Imagine being immersed (<--- word!) in a hot tub with the perfect temperature water. All the senses that hit you at once. The smell of the steam. Is it possibly mineral water? Natural hot spring? Chlorinated? The sound of little splashes as you move and shift just slightly. The feeling on your face of the steam, your wet hair cools off quickly causing you to dunk your head again and again to warm it back up.

I feel games are the same way. From the music, to the characters and the world they live in, all the feelings must be cohesive. A hot tub wouldn't feel like a hot tub if the liquid was too viscous, or if it smelled like popcorn.

Monkey Island felt like Monkey island because all characters felt the same, and behaved the same within the parameters of their character in their environment in the Monkey Island world. Think of your favorite series, and you'll begin to see things that just fit together, and in time be able to identify elements that are out of place.

I enjoyed it. That odd synthetic 'twang kind of sound.

One crit, is I wish the temp picked up around the one minute mark, it almost felt repetitive. When I heard the new piano like sound at 1:51 it was a very welcome addition to the track. Also, you have the sound of a woman sighing/breathing at around 1:54. I may suggest you add it once or twice more as the track shifts between its themes. It could even occur occasionally after every 8 bars or so, it would add a nice human element to it, in an otherwise very mechanical sounding piece.

During 2:00-4:00 the sound of the rasp did get a little under my skin though, perhaps changing its pace every 16 bars, or leaving some silence.

At 2:26 is when the high toned accent comes in, and if you count the beats until 2:48 (8 bars) and then again at 3:10 (another 8 bars) I feel the beat wants to experience a larger change in theme and dynamic. This does occur at 3:10 with the use of the lower humming tones, but it may be own personal preference to want something more climactic. But it would be a great chance to break up/change that rasping during this time.

My last crit comes from about 4:20 until the end. The temp drops off almost immediately from 4:19-4:23 and it feels like the song faded into a different song and didn't quite line up properly. I actually tested looping the track, from the start and ending at about at 4:23-4:24 back to the start, and it gave me the same flow. If this track is designed to be loopable, it means the will listen to the drawn out twang...twang...twang for almost 3 minutes solid.

That said, this is my very first musical audio critique ever and your piece may be a masterpiece, and I may just me talking complete nonsense. But, I hope something constructive comes out of it.

TreePad is always going to be a fave. Very easy to stay organized, add nodes, supports imbedded media.

icey, here are some suggestions for you if you want anyone to take you seriously. These are honest suggestions, please consider them carefully All of this should take you less than ten minutes.
1) Add direct links to your download in your first message in this topic.
2) Add screenshots of your game in your first message in this topic.
3) Add a description of your game in your first message in this topic.

Important:
4) Learn how to Zip a file, and put all your game contents into a single folder. See the commend below.

The player should not have to figure out which of these files, CLICK ME, that the player needs to play your game. Its not their problem to figure out how to download your game.

I dont have a file host, but I've uploaded my rendition here. Maybe someone can upload it to theirs. I've made the following adjustments:
-The wrinkles on his elbow
-the buttons on the wrist cuff
-the buttons down the chest

I think it would help balance the character. Take what you want off of it :)

Depends if the other game makers can afford the Endorsement fee, lol. (joking).

Grammar and spelling errors intentional?

LOOM basically was an interactive storybook. Very mild puzzle difficultly, and as Brian Moriarty said in one of his interviews, he wanted a game that was designed to be finished. I do enjoy these type of games as well. More of a journey in my opinion.

How near the ending were you hoping? I'm a huge Loom Fan, so it wouldn't take much to assist with you. Let me know.

I understand exactly what Ascovel means. I hope my Demo will be a milestone, even if finances dry up before a full game can be completed.

I suppose the YouTube generation has killed the need for many demo's though. Since we are often spoiled (or enticed) by Eye Candy.

Hey all, I was hoping to have a volunteer to assist with story development and puzzle implementation. I have the first chapter of my game already penciled out, but I would like to stay consistent with what would be considered intelligent game design. Does the flow of my game make sense. Is the character doing what would be natural? Am I making unnatural assumptions that the player should just  understand his directives?

Anyone interested just send me a message here.

FYI: The game is in the spirit of an old classic early 90s game.

For many games, I've found demo's obnoxiously short. So, I'm curious. For most AGS games currently released, how much of the game play should be given out on a Demo? A good hours play? 15 Minutes? What do you guys expect when you play a promising demo game?

I can appreciate the idea. Perhaps something more generic. I've seen one demo of a game with interchangeable head/torso/legs. This way, the player could mix and max. Think like Lego men :).
