The parts about the lighting are done on purpose, this isn't a background for a game but more as a picture that provokes questions. However I do understand what you mean, but I don't want to change that because it just wouldn't fit this style. It's more of an experimental kind of thing not meaning to conform to the principles and rules we're used to, if that makes sense.

Thanks for the suggestions on the lighting though, assuming it ever becomes art for a game I will mend the broken rule.  :)

Yes I know that it's quite obviously based on that particular image.   ;D

Anyway, I will go back and change the perspective on the right tower so it looks better.  That's of course after I get home from school.

Thanks, it's amazing to be honest, I wouldn't have thought of any of these suggestions. Oh yeah, I've started using my new tablet so I might do the edits with it so I can define the features more easily because the mouse is just too clunky for me.  8)

It's very nice, reminds me a little of 6DAS but much crisper.  :)

As Ben304 said, the legs look a little strange in the upside down "v" position. (It made me think of Bernard from DOTT.)

Hihi. ;D

It has been a fairly long time since I posted here, unfortunately, but maybe you will remember that old topic I made on the character I was doing. (He has since disappeared off the face of the planet. Way to add a story, huh?) But before I got my first tablet, which is a Capax 12" x 9" with nifty 29 assignable macro-keys, I decided to do something in paint.net the good old fashioned (I hope) way. Using a mouse!

I've shown it to a few people and they all think it's good the way it is, so I guess the main point of the post that I am trying to get across is: "Is there any way in the world I can improve this?" Oh wait, I named the thread that...  :D

Anyway here it is in all its cartoony goodness, and yes I did use one building as a reference. (From one of those tiller technique things)

Okay, thanks and have fun critiquing!

Thanks!

I'm having a blast doing animation for him. I think that as a character his animation should convey his shiftyness so I will consider removing the motion blur frame soon, at least after I've done the rest of him as I am looking to do a quality job with him.

Oh, and I do notice that his pants drop down a pixel or two, I will be fixing his pants before I do anything else.

Thanks guys!

I will be uploading the finished animation once I've done the rest. Seventeen frames so far... phew!

I am also happy it brought back memories, I was actually playing The Secret of Monkey Island today.  :D

The motion blur is only temporary as it is only one frame, I only put it in to save a bit of time. I was hoping you guys would like it so I wouldn't have to add the in-betweens for that part. Hah!  ;D

Although I could change the colours to the blue of his coat so it doesn't look like glue.

I'm actually new to the Forums, not to AGS however, and I suppose seeing how this is my first post here I should give a little information on myself just before I cut to the chase. (Which is the animation of course!) I'm from Australia and seeing how it's my school holidays I recently got back to doing stuff with AGS, although what I'm working on is on-hold as of two days ago. The most influential animators I've come across are definitely those from LucasArts.

I know my forum name might be unusual,  but don't ask.  :P

Anyway, the animation below is for a character of mine. It does pay homage to Stan (The shifty guy from Monkey Island) and the in-joke of the checkered coat staying in the same place. I don't plan on using him for a game at all as I only did him for fun. However, assuming I do animate other things for him, I will upload him for anyone to use.

Well here he is! C & C  ;D

*EDIT*

I've done a few more frames for him although he still isn't finished yet. The main part I am going to be working on is getting the motion as fluid as possible with the coat going back down, then I will work on animating the rest of his body.
