I looooooooooove the backgrounds! They are so looking good! I'm looking forward to playing this game! (I'll play the demo when it contains more than just bg's)

dsg_charly: I think these backgrounds are handpainted. I'm not sure, but they don't look like they're scanned or whatever.

Well, I have a rather negative look at this sprite. It doesn't really look like a female...

This needs improvement (I haven't seen her brother, so if this comment doesn't need):
- make the face look more feminine. (her nose is VERY big for a female)
- improve the skirt on the front view. it looks weird.
- raise the butt about 4 pixels.
- make the legs look like legs and like sticks which become smaller when they approach the feet.

Try stuying some other sprites of females to see how their body is build. I'll try making you a paintover when I have time.

That's sure a late post about something so obvious!

AGS doesn't suck up all your memory and it also is very userfriendly! Look at Gamemaker, I don't get anything about what it is supposed to do. Of course, I ran into AGS later, but that only proves that the most well-known isn't always the best. (I won't bug you with a long Micro$oft tirade, don't worry. ;))

With me, it's:
- Firefox: 33.520 kb (I run 2 windows now)
- AGS: 15.328 kb

Another great discovery about AGS!

I really like what you guys pulled up already! I'd love to play this game once it's completed! The portraits look really, really good!

The website is also nice. Not too crowded, not too empty.

I have a title suggestion: Edge of Sanity - Bitter Dreams

About the interface:
- Sanity bars are just fine. I like that idea.
- Limited inventory is a no, but I do suggest to make a start choise of something that's hidden in your pocket by answering a question or something. Let's say the player can answer a question which gives him 3 options. Every option gives him a unique item. Make sure that you can finish the game/head to the next level with all items, and you have an adventure with multiple ways of playing through.

Hope this helps!

Nikolas, can you do music for my game? :o

I've got no experience with making music, but I still have C&C:

I liked this demo, though it ends a bit suddenly. You should improve on that part.
It's very emotional and romantic, though you have to listen for a while to really get what's so romantic...

Next to that, nice work!

So that means the game is completed for real by now?

I meant jumping in a way that makes you able to reach a ledge which you can't reach if you don't jump. (pretty obvious)

How do I do this? Do I need regions? Or what else?

NOTE: I have a tiled game!

Hi,

I must say her design looks good! BUT the shades look a bit... well.. flat. That's why I made this small paintover (which is my very first paintover on this forum :P):

I hope you get some inspiration out of it...

EDIT: whoops! I made a mistake with the url code. This time it's a pic.

Currently I'm working on my battle system. I don't know yet wether I put it up or not, I don't like people using things I made fo a very personal project, but I do want to help... :-\

Anyways, as soon as I get coding a bit better I'll put some nice stuff up.

I'd say:

- add (1 or 2) horizontal edges to the wall with contrasting shadows.
- change the colourtone of the walls a bit, they look exactly the same as the beds.

I'll do more suggestions when they come to mind.

They look funny! LOL :D

and now serious C&C... FUNNY!!! ;D

And now really serious:
I like them. Is the game cartoonlike? If so, good job! If not, try making them more realistic.
The hologram robot looks a bit too simple, he needs a projector, right? Do you have a picture of it showing a (simple) hologram?
The cleaner robot also looks like a regular robot, maybe you can something that makes it look more like a cleaner?
The security robot really looks like one, but he needs a more strict face to be impressive. I'd suggest making the upper part of it's eyes darker.

Hi all,

I'm making this tiled RPG in which I want the player to be able to jump. I mean jumping so she really jumps. So not only animated! I don't know or I need a 3d plugin or module for this, but I want to know.

My situation:
- I have a character which is able to move in 8 directions which I want to change into 10 (1 extra for jumping, 1 for falling).
- I do not yet have a 3d plugin/module/thingy.
- My backgrounds are TILED so NO GAPS between walkable areas.

So I have some questions:
- Can I even do this in AGS? (I think I can't but it would be awesome if it's possible).
- Do I need a plugin/module/etc. for this for z coordinates? If so, which one?
- Can I combine it with the movement module?
- How much scripting will it take, and of which level? I'm very new to this...
- Is it possible to make the player character hang with her hands on a cliff?

If I really can't make my character jump I'll leave it out of my game.

Thanks in advance,
~Yurina

Maybe you can make the walls look more interesting, or add a light.

I agree on the chair, and the desk looks a bit funny too...

I'll look out for the hands and the feet. These are the front views and I plan on making these frames part of the walkcycle, so thanks for the comment. But now you mention the hands... I think I'll have to adjust the bases and the hands (even from the girls, since I use my base for both genders).

I'll drop a note when I uploaded the new versions!

~Yurina

EDIT: And yet again they have new hands!

Are you sure you checked or the font had all characters you used? I once accidentally used a font which didn't support the kapital "Q" and I got problems with it (when I typed Queen).

*gets heartattack*

Whao, whao! How did you get so good at this! :o *cries* I'm jalous!

I've only read the first post and I'm already a big fan! :D :P

I wish I was that good at 3d as you, capella...

Adn yet again I made a shiny new sprite! It's a he this time, so no gargious ladies this time! ;)

I don't know, but I seem to miss something. He looks perfectly like he does in Ayashi No Ceres (Ceres, Celestial Legend), but still... Any ideas how to improve?

Click on the link in the first post, he's there already. 8)

EDIT: I fixed the link to the character, which was accidentally broken... :P

I edited the hands. Take a look.
