The 'AGS Panel Review' comment might have to be adjusted?

You can actually edit the Panel Rating, not that you should really do so without very good reason.  Just click the "AGS Panel Rating" hyperlink (which is not a hyperlink for normal users).  That page also lets you set the download and image links as broken / valid, just in case changing the link the other way didn't change that flag anyway (which shouldn't happen!).  I should probably eventually just unify these things into one page, with different options depending on your user level, but that's a job for another day!

Got kind of a double entry:

Old version (had a bug):  "Phoenix1" (Download link broken)

Updated version:            "Phoenix1(newlly uploaded)" with proper working link (for Peder: Not in the AGSarchives.com database)

I suppose that's also why the former is reported as download link broken.

Okay, merged the relevant data from the two entries, and deleted the latter.

As we discussed though, I think if a game author deliberately makes a game unavailable in the official AGS database, that should be respected.  Offsite stuff like AGS Archives is fine though.  So essentially, The Find demo should be removed.

However, I think I'll rework this a bit, to allow game authors to disable their own games. The game wouldn't be permanently deleted, it would just be made invisible to the game playing public, so the author could go back if they changed their mind.

EDIT: okay, done that, and marked The Find demo as unavailable.

I marked a link a broken and was surprised how fast this went through. Just to avoid abuse of some jerk hating your game and marking the downloadlink as broken I want to suggest to change this a bit to either
wait for at least 2 people to report a link as broken and then mark it broken
and/or have a sign up for 'link reported as invalid' and still link to the destination anyways
or have for example the image uploaders see a message that the a link was reportet as broken and have them confirm this and then mark it as broken without a link.

Whoops, didn't realise marking a link as broken actually disabled the link.  Changed it so the link will still show, it'll just also appear on the downloadcheck list.

Awesome work on the updating, everyone.  You've saved me weeks of work!  If everyone could look through their game archives to see if we could reupload some stuff, I think we'll be complete!

The better idea might be for me to put in a thing that makes it clear the full game is now available, and that people should play that instead (unless they're totally completist and also want to play the demo!).  Having the date and number of downloads of the demo is a nice historical record, I think.

I think that isn't a placeholder, that it's a 'this image is now gone' image host message.  But given the game doesn't run because the ac2game.dta file is missing, there's not much we can do.

If there are multiple entries for a game, please let me know the details so I can merge the download counts and such for the two.  Please don't delete anything without consulting me!

http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/downloadcheck/.  This only shows games where the download has been reported as broken though.  Automatically checking all the links the way I did the images would take far too long.

new. is where new design / feature tests are run, I believe.  The database should be the same, but it's probably better to use the main URL just to be sure.

I think we should really remove both.  If the owner clearly wanted the game removed, their wishes should be respected.  We'll always have people like Peder and Leon to reupload the game if it comes to that!

Hm, I was able to update the download link, but when trying to upload a new screenshot I got first an error that I can't use bmp and then when uploading a png a "Editing game failed."

Yeah, it didn't allow you to upload bmps until recently, but I thought it would be better to just accept them, then convert them to jpg like all the rest  Looks like the error message is left from then.

Done.

I don't see why not.

Added Narushima to the relevant group.

There are theoretically no limits.  You should of course keep an eye on how many messages you have though - there's no point hanging on to years old messages without good reason!

Sorry all, I was fiddling with the site source late last night, and accidentally removed the group you're all in from the admin list in my tired state.  Should work again now?

I will actually update the lists people have given me soon, I promise!
#1377
Link to the 'download' link, rather than the actual file, I'd say.
#1378
When you say people, do you mean anyone except the one person who mentioned it on IRC?  SMF does throw that error sometimes, but it never seems to be for any good reason!
#1379
Doesn't really matter whether the screenshots are in png or not, since other formats get converted to high quality jpg.

There's actually a system (that's not currently working, for some reason) that creates 320x200 thumbnails of each image as it's uploaded.  That would actually make pages load that much quicker.  Not that that's really a problem in these days of high speed connections, but efficiency is always good!

But yeah, scaling up low res pixel art does seem a bit weird to me.  It should be appreciated at the size it was drawn!  I could maybe have a little JavaScript dynamic scaler function the way imgzoom tag on the forums work, which would let people choose if they really want to scale up.

EDIT: what you said!
