You misunderstood Leon... they actually removed the message (as the link wasn't really broken). And I suppose the point of the message is also to let the people know the game is not downloadable. I must admit that I agree this is almost useless and, worse even, it discourages people to even try... in my case, in the last two years there likely have been at least some people who didn't even try to download, having seen the message...

But, now that is rated just 2 cups, they'll be discouraged even more, I fear  ;D

Well, still one cup more than my other game!  ;)

I find the rating thing quite nice, by the way, and I'm sure the members chosen are experienced players. Maybe I'd just encourage a more friendly way of reporting errors and change the "broken link" message in something like "The game has yet to be rated, or the staff couldn't download the game" with indications as how to contact the staff.

My case is closed, anyway.

I personally hate when you have to do something (worse even if it's something that doesn't look important) to trigger an event. Like in Gabriel Knight, where you have to deal with time-blocks: a day passes only if you did everything the game requires, but sometimes you'd rather just wait, and you can't. For example, if you give some ancient text to a professor, who says will give you the translation tomorrow, I want to be able to choose if I'm gonna wait or if I'm gonna do something meanwhile.

Well, let's just say that I don't like time-blocks.

Yeah, the link's always been the same... and I noticed that message some time ago. I just forgot about that, and assumed someone was going to fix it sooner or later... and since I didn't have an internet connection at home (until the last month), the few times I checked the site from an internet point or my university I didn't have time to deal with such a thing.

Thanks a lot though, you've solved the matter quickly as lightning. Hope you can improve the report system for such things. Even a dedicated forum cathegory should do the trick, I suppose.

P.S. How did you manage to even rate it so fast?

My download link of my game is tagged as broken, but it isn't, and I never found that it was, in fact. I really didn't know where to report this, so maybe some mod can just move this thread where it belongs. I really think it should be nice if there was more info about the right place to ask for this kind of things, btw.

Well, with a rapid google search, I found this:

and not much else. The most of the tutorials seems to explore just the side walkcycles.... anyway I'm sure you can find something else, and even on this forums there must be something handy. Good luck.

I didn't say anything about the arms, that are nice, for what I can see.

And probably I didn't explain correctly what I wanted to say about the "sliding". Of course, the feet has to slide when you watch the animation in a .gif file (as it is in your first post). When I talked about the sliding matter, I was referring to the fact that, since his feet always keeps the same position until it reaches the left part of the frame, you can't say when the heel touches the ground. This causes his feet to go down in the ground (or so it seems), in that frame when he should have it just put on the ground.
Not very simple to explain, though.

I believe that working on the position of the foot could solve the matter. You should made him touch the ground with his heels first, and then with the whole sole.

Anyway, believe me: this animation isn't bad at all, and can be, as it is now, a good enough walk-cycle. So improve it just if you're looking for excercise, or for something really, really cool.

Yeah, you're almost there buddy. Anyway, there seems to be some "feet-changing-size" problems, yet. And, to be very boring, one of his feet still slides, in the frame where the leg is completely straightened.

By the way, the job you've done with his arms is very good, especially the animation, and also nice is the way his hair falls up and down his face.

Keep working on it.

In the frame where his right feet is almost centered, the feet suddenly becomes bigger, and from then the right leg seems to do a clock-wise quartercircle, like sliding on the floor. This looks weird, and it's probably due to the fact that, still, the foot aren't aligned in all of the frames.

There's something messy with the arms, in the front view. Looking at what you did for the back view, his right arm should be longer in the front view. The other one has a strange shape, I suggest you straighten it up a bit, or maybe put his hand in a folder.

I think I know why you do think he's looking weird, somehow. The legs are too short, in my opinion: the fact that he's got a very large belt tricks the eye, but the legs are definitely short (or the torso is too long). And the foot are quite tiny too. Apart from that it looks very nice and clean, and surely useable as a character.

I'm not completely sure, but you should easily find a stick or something similar and then combine it with the tape. The resulting object will serve as a tool to get the coin out of the drain. The books are not very important, but some of them give clues on how to solve some puzzles

Yeah, not very fair, I must admit. I'm pretty use to pixel-hunt, anyway, since most AGS games feature them (a huge one in in Once Upon a Time, and for that I had to read the Hints and Tips).

Tell Tequila about this, maybe he'll change it in the next version of the game.

P.S. Paolo, maybe you misunderstood, but I'm just the translator of the game.....

I absolutely agree with you Paolo. The best translations are made from a translator who has the target language as his mother tongue. I always find easier to translate in Italian, and I can do it faster.

Anyway thanks to you, zenassem, I was just hoping to get reassured when I blamed myself. I'm such a child, sometimes...  ;D

In Italian "parlare alle spalle" o "parlare dietro" are equivalent sentences, but the one you're referring to was supposed to mean: "parlare ad una persona girata di spalle". In the game there's an NPC that talks to the PC giving him his back. It's not intended as "when a person tells a bad thing to another, speaking of a third person that's not with them at the moment". I don't know if "talking to one's back" is the right translation.

Anyway, I'll look for you two when I'm going to release a new game (it's been ages since I last did).

I suppose English would be the best choice, anyway. (speaking of the U.S./English translation differences).

Hi, I've completed the Italian->English translation for the Curse of Life, by Tequila 144. Since I'm Italian, and my English is not the state-of-the-art, the author wants to be sure that the translation is good enough.
So, if anyone would be so kind to test it and write down the changes to be made, he'd have my gratitude.
