That's never a pixel hunt.  Pib should have a reason to use a tape.  Do something that makes Pib thinking of a tape to be needed,

Nevermind, I figured it out.  That could be a bug.  It had bypassed the secret puzzle #1 at some point.

I knew where the walkthru is.

I've double check everything and I'm sure that I haven't missed anything.  But I still stuck on that point.

I got the same problem after the laundry puzzle.  I go to the brick wall and use the deck of card on sammy but he keeps saying the card not wanted to be opened yet.

Go back to the boat and talk to the wizard again and he will tell you what to do next.

Interact with your seat or the seat in front of you.  I can't remember which one exactly.

Move the cursor around and watch the status line carefully.  Eventually it will show "the X-spot on map".

 I am on the boat at the moment... i got the bikini top from the pool and descend to the cabin but everytime i go in there, it makes larry automatically go to bed and then the mum from next door comes in during and kills larry!  

is there some way to get around this?

You have to do things fast.  This part of game has an "internal clock" to determine day or night.  If you spend too much time elsewhere in the ship once you get back to your room it will turn to night time and the horrible thing will be happened...  You can also try to slow down the game speed in setup menu.

That one is tricky, due to the escape door not obvious.  Try to interact every spot of the plane.

The escape door is at the lower part of the plane's tail, where you can see the plane's outer surface.

I've finished the game some time ago so I can't remember what exactly the "trail" looks like, but the color is different from other part of the quicksand and lead to the lower right corner,

Then try something else with those items you found.

Walk carefully.  Always click only a few step ahead following the "trail".

Have you find anything within the jungle?

In fact, I've encountered this issue on the first time.  Then I restored and played again.  This time I took EVERYTHING before I checked the briefcases and then everything went just fine.
