Parodies gather more attention. Full stop.

Heh, you can't wait for the monk game even before we started working? JESUS, we are good!  :=

VintageDemon - I, um, don't appear have MSN. How about ICQ? I'm 305-601-174 (Akatosh). What timezone do you live in? If it's somewhere in Europe, I think we can arrange a proper time. I'm at GMT +1, meaning "Germany".
#1523
Heh... if it should ever get finished, that is. Probably on Duke Nukem Forever day.

Now officially recruiting for a Mr. Monk game.
#1524
Please don't apply anymore, it's been stopped and you're giving me a bad consciousness  :'(

+++ A megalomaniac adventure game idea +++ A fan game to the ingenious Mr. Monk series +++ http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=29982.0

So that guy walks into a thread and writes "Geez, I should really make a Mr. Monk adventure game" (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=29982.0). And to his surprise, some other guys answer "Yeah, great idea"! And thus the guy starts thinking about actually making a Mr. Monk game. A true story - mine, to be exact.

But before I even start doing that game, I'll need some help. If there shall be a Mr. Monk adventure, it shall be based on a Mr. Monk episode (probably Mr. Monk Goes to the Theatre) and it shall be great. First of all - would anyone be willing to help? I'll need something like a real team for this, meaning

1) Multiple graphics artists

-> 100%-ly somebody for the **** character graphics and animations Welcome abord, Green Boy

-> Someone who can do the background graphics (in worst case, I *could* do that myself)

Welcome to the team, YosefZaYoddler He's off again  :'(

2) A musician

3) Somebody who can extract the music from the Mr. Monk intro   ;D
Forget it, it's downloadable at the official site.

4) Beta testers (we have 1 already, but more are always nice)

Feel free to apply if you're willing to help on a game gunning for multiple AGS awards 2007. Just PM me or go on my ICQ nervers  (305-601-174).

The game currently is few more than some scribbled notes on one of my 'notes pages', but I'm sure we can make it. I WANT YOU FOR MR. MONK!

Artemis vs. that common cold guy!

One has no arms or anything (but a nifty red tie) and the other one's an artist. Hooray, sissy fighting!

Hehehe... nice topic this time. Perhaps my game will be based on one of these comics I found on the web (to be exact, I stumbled upon the comic website while reading a website the comment page for "System Shock 2" on HOTU linked to)...

Hello and welcome in the Mr. Monk game team, VintageDemon. First, we will watch some episodes and decide which one we'll watch. Meeting is at your place in 5 minutes, I'm already on my way. Hope you've got something to eat, I'm hungry.
:=

/EDIT: Probably I'm going to make a game idea posts for the Mr. Monk thing. I won't even try this without at least a graphics artist. And a Mr. Monk game would feature much, much thinking stuff, combining informations and such. I already practiced that in the Krisis games. Oh, and it would have a "think" cursor mode.
#1528
That shouldn't happen. [/not helpful stuff]

Back when I played the game, I attempted to use the shock gun on him first. Perhaps you have to try that before you can beat him with the towel rail?
#1529
Agreed! I'd like to see a Mr. Monk adventure, for one.

/EDIT: Wait, one moment. Why did I never get the idea to make one myself?
/EDIT EDIT: Oh, yeah. Graphics.
#1530
Wait, did you mean turning games into movies (as has been done with Lara Croft, Doom,...) or working movies into Point'n'Click adventures (has this been done yet ?) or making games which play like movies (e.g. 6DAS)?
#1531
The following post contains a joke about beating. Therefore, it has been rated "Adults only". Only read it if you're 18 years or older or your mother or father or both are in the same room while you're reading it. Yours, the ubiquotious International Youth Protection Department! :=

Spoiler

No beating? Dammit  ;)
(That was a joke. I'm not into this sorta thing. No no no no no no no. Bad thought. Stop believing I'd be into this sorta thing right NOW. Just stop it.)

Still, the drawing is good, if you like manga.

All curvy and big!
How about... rephrasing that?  ::)

/EDIT: Seems like my imagination just ran wild.

/EDIT EDIT: Wait, with the hide tags, it's actually looking like adult only stuff!  :o
#1532
Because the status bar injects subliminal messages directly in their underconsciousness, duh!
#1533
Oh boy! It's "make fun of your own nationality day" again!

"Your evil scheme will never succeed, §175B StGb!"

I present you: Herr Deutschland (Mr. Germany)! After being bitten by a radioactive dish of sauerkraut, he transformed! Not a lazy and boring civil servant anymore - now he's even wearing a cape! He has the unique superpower to understand each and every german law! He even understands the obscure procedure you need  to make a request for making a request for something else!

(My code ring still works. Shall I set it to "ROT26" or just use "ROT13" twice?)

/EDIT: And YES, that's green socks and brown shoes.
#1534
Sure! I can contribute... 20 cents. EURO cents, that is. So about... geez, how am I supposed to know what's that in dollar cents? 25, probably.

If you need me, I'm throwing up in that corner over there.

Remeber the Da Vinci Code game, anyone? They tried to make a game everyone likes and ended up with one everybody hated.
#1536
Nice to hear! I'm still struggling with the second LAN, anyway. It's far too complex to work in the same way as the first one. Let's hope my mad scripting skillz  ;D will enable me to make it.

/EDIT: Yup, they did. Seriously this time.

Spoiler

The cultists would have been a way better source. The inspector didn't even kill his own love - it was killed, that's everything. He did suffer the pain of the body and the mind, but I guess the cultists did far worse things to themselves every meeting. No idea why he needed the inspector. To protect Chzo from the along-coming Trilby? Why did he need Trilby, anyway? And couldn't The Tall Man have done better?

Well, you can still check the #AGS chat channel!
#1539
Um... no ;D
How about sending the creator a PM?

Let's just hope he has a good health insurance if the game ends up as screw-up.

But anyway, to get back to topic, if you're looking for game ideas, here's a good spot to start:

http://www.gpwiki.org/index.php/Game_Ideas

(the same wiki also features an article on how to work as a lone developer, you should read it).
