I guess you changed the during-cutscenes option to GUIs turn off.

Naturally it'll disappear during a Wait command, then. Change that option to GUIs remain unchanged or just use an object, instead.

Right. I'm looking for a good how-to-draw-lo-res-humans tutorial... whenever I try something, it ends up either as a badly animated Roger or just an amorphus blob.

In germany, there is a games-related magazine called 'GameStar'. They once had a 'Freeware' special - they had about 1/3 of a page long articles about truly great Freeware games and a CD with them on. So I looked around on it a little and stumbled upon an adventure game called 'Seven Days a Skeptic'. I thought 'why not' and played it through. Afterwards, I checked the credits to see whether the author had made any sequel or prequel. And there it was... Hm... 'Adventure Gaming Studio'?

Also on the CD were 'Apprentice I' and 'Apprentice II'. And in both credits - this AGS thing again! So I checked and immediatly got excited - I programmed before, in C++, and so I could immediatly start off scripting.

Seems like I screwed some things up  :P

I just hate it situations like 'oh my, I've got 12 hours left to do 75% of the translation and beta-test this'. Feel lucky it even works... if I had entirely skipped the beta test, it wouldn't.

Still, having the three-of-me item still in the inventory is just annoying, that's everything. Enjoy the game and...

Um... you combined the rubbish, knife and rug with the normal flaregun, didn't you? That's what I call 'overpowered' flaregun. You used it with the door to get in the factory... didn't you? And how could you open the suitcase? You need the knife for it! Anyway, I fear we have a screwed-up situation here. Dammit. You must've done something I wanted to avoid. Geez, didn't you talk to the reindeer to get another flaregun rocket which you combined with the empty flaregun??

Pshew, that's difficult to say. You won't be able to make much use of that information, but I'm finished with the Knollware Public Access Server and the KnollNet Index Server. Also, the "chat" channels #leetspeak, #ags (weee!), #rap and #cyber "work" now. First few puzzles are complete. I'll release a demo when I'm at the point the game actually starts on - the Knollware Mainframe.

/EDIT: I'm thinking of the user thing. But then again, you aren't registered to anything - you are just a random guy trying to get the FRIGGING AWESOME demo from the Public Access Server

Empty gun? That's strange. What did you get when you used the disassembler on the overpowered gun? *Normally* you should get a normal Flaregun and some other stuff when disassembling it... and using the tinsticks on the disassembled gun should give you a tin gun.

No really, I'd *love* to see that game finished. Enjoyed every second of the demo. If you now add some animations and a bit more userfriendliness (e.g. clicking to make text go away), this could be a truly great game.

Yeah, I guess so. I think I'll post a suggestion in the tech forums that there'll be a 'anything' category added to the text parser, for which it doesn't matter whether it carries 'cowabunga', 'eek' or nothing.

And I knew that with [anyword]; that's why I tried it - I thought this would work with 0, 1 or 2 words standing before 'tool', but that unfortunately wasn't the case.

The problem is: I want a certain response if the player types anything, and I mean anything, if the line includes a certain word, no matter what stands left or right of that word ("tool" in this case). I've tried the following code already:

Only works if nothing stands before 'tool'.

Always gives the response, even if there's no 'tool' in the line.

Never gives the response, as weird as it sounds.

Any idea how to get this working? This is quite urgent, as this is a vital and basic feature of my game... and this isn't covered by the manual and the ags wiki entry is just a copy of that manual section. The technical archive is no help, too.

Hm... I dimly remember there was a german translation... but I'm not sure. I've never heard something of an Italian translation, anyway.

They look very similar. Remember, you are hacking a computer; the main menu provides a good idea of the look-and-feel. (NOTE: NOT ANYMORE. -13.01.07)

YOUR MISSION: Get the KoffeeKrisisII - demo from the heavily defended Knollware Mainframe. Penetrate all defenses and don't let yourself get caught by the admin (who'll log on later in the game) or his tracers. Be the ub3r h4Xx0R you always wanted to be. Launch executables and 'chat' with other people.

Project Status
So I've finally decided to add a 'Project Status' section to this post  ;D
Graphics: ~95% (rather small variety used, but these look nice)
Story: 100%
Puzzles: ??? - whenever I think I have the definite number of rooms set up, the number increases
Music: 100%, thanks to the Music Player

ENTIRE GAME: Should be about 80% finished now.

04.01.07: I've started working on the mainframe. It has some HEAVY security online. For those interested, the same that the NSA database uses in Dan Brown's "Digital Fortress"  :o
In addition, I'll add a badly needed information database to the game - the "Securipedia". You'll make some heavy use of it.

06.01.07: Hitting 'enter' now works on every textbox in the game.

13.01.07: After a long break I finally decided to get my lazy ass back working on this. The Securipedia background (by Darth Mandarb) can be seen in the new screenie above.

20.01.07: The second LAN is finished. Increased difficulty. Also, TRACERs are implented; even the first LAN has one. Makes this a bit more difficult.

21.01.07: The first LAN has been re-worked a little, the second one was enlarged by about 100%. It features two tracers. Two *fast* tracers. And WLAN. And a modem.

25.01.07: Good news, everyone. I've just played Trilby's Notes and 6 Days in a row in a completly dark room. And now wind causes some tree to bash its brenches against my window, the same wind is howling loud enough to wake the dead and there was some horror movie on TV I watched before playing these games. So I won't be able to sleep for, like, the next ten weeks. Which'll give me much, much time to work on this. Expect the next demo be released on Saturday. Yes, there will be a second demo. And probably a third. Depends on the TV program, Yahtzee, and that bloody tree I'm going to chop down if it doesn't stop the branch business.
