KK suffers a bit from the "cumbersomeness" I quite disliked in KoffeeKrisis, both in interface and in general style (the 1st room, for instance - I found all those special effects quite annoying).

Well, you could have told me that before I did KristmasKrisis, couldn't you  :P - I mean, your only comments on KoffeeKrisis were "There is a screenie on the games page" and something about "Brain Meltdown" because of the subtitle thing. There *is* a post comment function... but at least I've got some feedback now. Better late than never.

But hey, MAGS is there for practicing and gathering experience... so if I should lose, be sure to see me again next month! (with another gui and *no* cumbersomeness)

(wait till the countdown reaches 0 - about 15sec - then click on the link behind "Ihr Downloadlink:")

I know it's a bit unusual to use a german hosting service, but it's trust, nearly ad-free, safe and the only one which didn't reject the file.

I'm about finished, but before I enter it: Mind if I semi-reuse my GUI (works in the same way and looks similar, that's everything) and some graphics (altered version) or shall I use the last ~30h to completly redo them?

/NOTE: Uh, I won't manage to finish it today. Will submit on the 26th, 11a.m. European time.

Beginners' Technical Questions / Re: File Size

One character has, by definiton, a size of exactly one byte. So I doubt very much that making a function would reduce the game size notably.

Well, we germans celebrated christmas yesterday, so that was a non-issue for me  ;D

2006 = great, because I stumbled upon AGS this year  ;D

I discovered it after I got curious what that 'AGS' may be the credits of 7 days a skeptic refer to and... well... I wound up doing adventures three days later!

NOTE: Oh f***ing s**t, I f***ed up the f***ing bl***y translation file. Hopefully I'll be able to fix this f**k in time.

Even though no-one seems to care:

Game is finished, translation about 50% ready.

Then go on! Roger decided that, and thou shallst follow his order!

Greetings,

Problem: When a player tries to save his game, the game crashes and says 'Save Game Directory Overflow'

Analysis: The game sometimes Autosaves, Quicksaves or Continue-Save the game. If they are in slots 100+, it works. If none of these saves exist, the game saves just fine, too. But I need them in slots 99-!

Question: Any way to prevent the 'Overflow' other than completly removing these (somewhat vital) SaveGameSlot - Commands?

Yup. Added another character. And it's nearly finished now.

We already had something similar in the past with .txt files. Did you have the file opened in the background in photoshop?
#1774
Well, the best parser game I know of is called "Trilby's notes", but that is a horror adventure and might not be suitable for everyone. Great, though.
#1775
Same here, the style of the graphics isn't unpleasant, but I think you could at least work on the symbols a bit. And I'd be nice if the game was a little harder than "easy as pie".
#1776
Whee  ;D

So, you're gonna see Artemis and His Incompetent Sidekick Snobert The Floating Sombrero this December!
#1777
I've got a question on this: Must there be two playable characters from the beginning on or can the other one join later in the game or shortly before the end? If yes, I have an entry! If no... well, then not  ;)

Well, it wasn't originally planned as an december AGS entry... but I'm probably gonna add another character and enter it in the contest  ;D

Story
What started off as a normal working day for Artemis â€" arriving at 1 p.m., reading newspaper â€" unsurprisingly… er, I mean, completely unintentionally and surprisingly evolves to an Epic Plot Of Epic Proportions and a full-scale war for Christmas!

That's about adventure standard, but I don't want to give away too much now. Read the “features” section if you want a sneak peek.

Features
* A full-scale war between our favourite holiday's two different forces!
* Incredibly bad jokes!
* Your favourite white-bearded factory-owning notorious drunkard!
* Incredibly bad jokes about a well-known german newspaper!
* You decide how it'll end!
* Incredibly bad jokes about doors!
* German humor!
* Teleporters playing an important role!
* Incredibly bad jokes about weapons!
* The first puzzle EVER which involves the same person three times!
* Many different weapons (as puzzle solves, of course)
* Incredibly bad jokes about incredibly bad jokes!
* Everyone's favourite rectangle-with-legs-and-a-fly: Artemis!
* Excitement!
* Two possibilities to die!
* Auto-saving!
* A main menu!
* A Shrieker Pickle!
And so on. You get the idea, I hope.

Project status
I'll be finished on the 23rd December, I hope ;)
No really, I'm about to be finished. The translation and some final puzzles are still missing, and all sounds but one. And that one sound won't make it into the final version cuz it's too crappy.

And that is why I need somebody to make sounds REALLY FAST. Especially music to play in the background. Could someone do “Industrial” or Rock version of old Christmas Classics? Please? NOW?[/i]

Mainly, yes. It's held together mainly by tape and prayers, but... well, this is the way it works:

-> Everything isometric is an object.
-> And has two regions corresponding: One exactly in its shape, and one in the place which causes the baseline problems - the place where the character would have to be drawn in front of it.
-> Player walks onto it: The baseline gets moved, and the character is drawn in front of it.
-> Player walks off: The baseline is moved back to where it was.

It works suprisingly well... the only problem is when TWO characters are standing there, one on the 'problem region' and one in the wrong place. But I'm working on this, and I'll make it... I hope.
