Oh dear...

Well, that certainly would be possible to do with AGS; there is even a thread dedicated to making RPGs with AGS, although I believe none have ever been finished so far.

However, for your first game, I would recommend something really simple - you know, to get familiar with making games as such. "Escape The Room" is always good for a first attempt

A suffix is something you stick to the end of a word. Like -ness, or -ed, or -ly... or -mon, as the case may be.

Also, "bounty hunting" isn't too new an idea either. But looking at how it's hard to come up with original stuff anyway, I don't think anybody would mind if your game was a little bit derivative, as long as it's not too blatant (like, say, calling the hero Ashe and having him fight Team Bocket with the help of the Gigamon Peakachoo, or making a game about world-renowed archaeologist Bindiana Bones, who fights the evil Gnazis for the Kraisteel Shull. Or something).

Well, that certainly was worth the wait and the triple-posts.

Or, y'know, not. Seriously, no offense, but don't you think you might be in a little over your head?

You need to upload it first. I recommend imageshack.us.

Hm... darn. Well, give me some time.

/EDIT: Alright, I've tested another version on two PCs that aren't the one I performed the crack on, and both accepted the enter key instead of a "real" serial number. Hang on, I'm uploading it right now.

Anyway, the method I used was to open SecureFile.exe with a Hex Editor, search for "secfile.vgm" to replace it with "newfile.vgm" and create said document, containing only an underscore (_). Maybe you can reproduce that if the cracked file doesn't work.

I... think I've figured out a way to bypass the security. It's worked on two PCs so far, but that could have been luck, and I can't try it out on another.

Do me a favor, will ya?

(Different version, try it if the other b0rks up. Try "just hitting return" with that one, too.)

General Discussion / Re: iPhones
Mon 20/07/2009 09:31:19
I don't own one myself, but from what I saw about it (the boss of a tax advising agency I used to work at had me "fix" up pretty much everything remotely techie, including his iPhone... long story...) it's really no match for the gold old PDAs. Mine has very slightly worse specs than a newest-generation iPhone, but at approximately 25% of the price (and has a higher resolution to boot). Plus, less fidgety interface (although I have to admit it looks far less cool). That decision was really a no-brainer.

The appropiately-named "PDF Creator" should work fine.

Well, according to my ever-trusty Futurama calendar, today is the Nicaraguan Day Of Liberation and the 175th birthday of one Edgar Degas. Also, some Kelly Link turned 40 today.

Plus, maybe people are studying for exams or something... which is what I should be doing right now, actually...  :=

Well, give me a minute."

Nah, that text is just chock full of quite old terms. Spital, Gendarme, Auwiesen... nobody says that anymore.

But yeah, "Auen" or "Auwiesen" are basically grassy areas near a body of water.

(The style is horrible, though. Were periods rationalised or was the author paid by the comma or what?)

cCharacter.ChangeRoom(room, x-coordinate, y-coordinate);

But replace "Character" with the name of the character you want to move, x-coordinate with the, well, x-coordinate of the spot you want it to appear at ("distance from the left edge of the room in pixels") and vice versa for y-coordinate.

As has been said numerous times.

Do you even speak English?

Ooh, I know that one. The program that does this sort of thing is a really annoying little bugger. If I recall correctly, it's adware that auto-installs itself if you visit a hijacked website and don't immediatly shoot down your browser via the task manager. The goal is pretty much to get you to buy a fake anti-virus program that does nothing but download more trojans.

I recommend firing up Knoppix or something among these lines and virus-scanning the hell out of your hard drive. Running some adware removal can't hurt either. Plus, yeah, scan for rootkits.

RemoveWalkableArea(1);

Replace 1 with the number of the walkable area you want to remove, and you're golden.

One more for Trihan. That was pretty clever.

Are you using .wav music files? These have an ugly tendency to massively blow up the filesize.

Coming to think of it, how much of those 300MB is taken by the "music.vox" file?
#238
No, there is no easy way to do it from within AGS (as has been said several times).
#239
Dead ends, especially if they're not immediatly (and I mean immediatly) obvious.

Also, not being able to skip dialogue. Some people read faster than the voice actors talk, you know.

/EDIT: Whoops, I totally forgot I already posted in this thread. Sorry. Damn you, 10-hour codeathons, you and your effects on my sanity.

I'd say the back wall is ok, but I don't know about the ground. With the light source appearantly being in the upper left corner, I don't think it should be universely brightly-lit like that (e.g. the huge pillar should cast SOME shadow, and the floor should maybe get slightly darker towards the right). Otherwise, it looks pretty good to me.
