I don't think you can alter this... but you can use negative values for the SPD properties of the frames in the cursor's animation view, thus speeding up the animation.

I don't think AGS has a built-in function that does this, but you could script a workaround with the help of the mouse.ChangeModeView function.

This calls for pornographic "Little Girl in Underland" fanfiction.  :P

Anyway. Might do an easy one... "Fahrenheit" or "Oblivion" or something.

And "none of the doors actually leads out". Priceless.

Always reminds me of the Fighting Fantasy books. I never finished Masks of Mayhem.

Great idea!

Also; how about this for a song title:

I have no folder that I can find

That could be the subtitle of the game! As in,

Weeeeelll...

I think it might be possible to simulate behaviour like this by getting creative with objects, interactions, regions and the like. But it will be extremely complicated to get something like this to work.

Coming to think of it, might be worth a try.  :=

I'm still wondering what a "pie-in-the-sky ideology" might be.

I know. I was hoping for more drama gold like "Time to cancel my own account i think. Either that or carry on showing you all just how brave and fantastically defensive i am against you inexperienced cretins.", but sadly, it didn't work.  :'(

Actually, I meant that you probably misinterpreted TerranRich's comment as serious - which it wasn't. He was just being sarcastic, as was I. But judging to your reply to my post, I'm starting to think you could really need that dictionary...  :=

Where do you live, Shoni? I have a dictionary to spare, and since I think you need one, I could mail it over.

Alright, I've been busy working on this the last few days, and there are some good news:

- I've successfully sanitised the collision detection. No more getting stuck at platform edges, no more random vapor concrete (unless intended  ;D)

- The walljumps and climbs are making some progress, but they're far from being complete.

- I'm also looking into checkpoints.

- There are new player sprites, courtesy of Ben "Awesome" 304:

Right now, this is a careful balancing act between "too polished to be a genuine bootleg demake" and "too buggy to be fun", but I'm confident I can do this. Meanwhile, there still is a mirror of the "original" game alive because of the bootleg compo. Give it a look if you want to be disappointed.  :=

This only really happened to me once, with an otherwise awesome game: XIII. It's a cel-shaded ego-shooter with a charming comic-esque look and compelling gameplay. It's mostly actiony, but there are some "sneaky" levels where you must not trigger an alarm. This is usually doable - the alert isn't triggered immediatly, so you have some time to shoot the guard who spots you before he can press one of these big red glowing buttons.

Except in the very last goddamn mission of the game.

In that, you're in a secret military base, and for some reason, you must not kill a single guard. The whole thing is SWARMING with enemies, and of course with big red glowing alarm buttons. You MAY knock them out, but the base also seems to consist solely of unbreakable see-through glass walls with an alarm trigger every three meters or so. And you can't save freely - the whole thing works per checkpoints. And there is precisely one - at the very start of the level (eh). You can't even cheat your way out of there, because the only cheat there is is one that gives you infinite ammo. GAAAAAAH.

I never finished that game.

Actually, that's called a "demake", as far as I know. I think there was a project to recreate some 3D-007-shooterama-thing on the tech level of the original GameBoy, but I can't remember what it was called.

(gaah, can't edit posts in this stupid mobile phone view! :()

Or did you mean something else? That code might not work, depending on how exactly you're handling "movement by continuous key pressing" and the like. Some more insight in your control system might be nice.

If there is a way to alter rotation speed, it's none that I know of. You could build workaround by turning the "Player turns to face location" thing off and creating a script that turns the player "by hand". This is what I mean:

Code: ags

player.FaceLocation(player.x, player.y+10); //face down, -10 for facing up; set as you think is appropiate
Wait(5); //experimet with that delay
player.FaceLocation(player.x-10,player.y); //-10=left, +10=right

... or something among these lines. Hope that helps, and that my PDA didn't fuck up the formatting TOO much.

Man, I really thought somebody had created a game by the name of "Uninstall The Orical".

Haha, me too..

Quote from: kaputtnik on Tue 16/09/2008 09:52:04
The name rhymes, looks good and promises at least 15 minutes of excessive nerd adventure game trash.

What a shame.

Indeed!

Exactly! Somebody make that game. It could be an entry for the MAGS.  :=
#557
I'm not sure if that helps in this case, too, but sometimes such problems can be fixed by inserting a Wait(1); at the right point (after changing the views) so the game engine has time to update.

It's pretty nifty. I particularly liked Conan the Librarian and The Collector (mostly because we used to do that, too - taste WWI German bullets, ewoks!  :P), but the rest is nifty, too. Reminds me a bit of the Perry Bible Fellowship without the sickeningly bright enviornment and with more contemplatativeness (if that's a word).
#559
The game itself was nice already, but the unlockable bonus? Motherfucking Karl Marx on a bicycle!  :o

That said, well done.  :P

No matter how hard I try, my beard growth always reaches "mass murderer facial stubbery" after three days, then stays like that for a week, then directly jumps to "Taliban". So no 'staching for me.  :(
