If you keep on going like that, you might even be able to get past theatrx on the "naked men" scoreboard.  :P

That's what I meant, sorry if it was unclear.   :-[

QuoteI think he meant you saved it as a JPEG, but IMO it does no harm at all using JPEGS.

Not neccessarily, but in this particular screenshot, the lossy compression really hurts the quality. PNG wouldn't hurt here.

Neato. I'll check it out once I have some time. But you may want to replace that screenshot...

/EDIT: By which I mean, use a different file format.

Nice entries so far... keep 'em coming!

Adventure games are the obvious choice, it's AGS, but I don't want to confine people to thinking about standard AG constraints (although they are fine too). I don't think there would be much point in entering a completely non story based Tetris clone because it's not a coding competition, but you are free to enter whatever you like.

Well, if one of the voting categories is "writing", that would be rather stupid, wouldn't it?  :P

Anyway. Thanks for the quick reply, and I'll see if I do an entry myself and if yes, what genre it will be.

OROW stands for "One Room, One Week" and it's a competition we've run four times now, fairly successfully, for small adventure games.

You have a week to make a short game using AGS.
There is no restriction on theme, and less typical games are encouraged.

So... just adventure games or AGS games in general?

"Warning: this topic has not been posted in for at least 120 days.

Screw that.

Following some random swing of mood (and some advice from people over at the TIGsource forums), I returned to this age-old game and polished it a little. It now features

- More dialogue!
- Slightly changed puzzles!
- Less "holes" in the scripting!
- Better explanations than "I forbid this since I'm clairvoyant!"
- New character sprites!
- Music (by Scott Joplin) and Sounds!  :o
- Exclamation marks!
- A new screenshot (seen at the top of the thread and in the AGS games database)!

Now we might actually have enough changes to justify the fact this game has an own database entry. Enjoy. Hopefully.

(If you happen to be on the rating panel, it would also be nice if you could re-evaluate the game. Personally, I think it's much more fun now.)

You probably know the outline supplied this time. If not, get off my lawn, whippersnapper.

You're allowed to draw both inside and outside the outline, as well as resize and rotate it, but it must be (more or less instantly) recognizable and somehow the center of your image. You're completly free on size and colors.

That's it. Competition ends on the 28th, 12 o'clock GMT. Good luck!

[Trophies go here once I can be arsed to draw some.]

Maybe I could help, although my graphics style kind of doesn'T mingle well with that of most others...

:D

Thanks! It's been a succesful month for me (2x silver, 1x gold) so far... Anyway, I'll post something tomorrow, I'm not exactly sober right now (not drunk, just a little tipsy) and it doesn't look like I'll get it again today, so...

The panel hates my games, woo!  :=

Apart from that, I like the update.

Second place! \o//

Sorry for forgetting to vote... but since it'd have been TwinMoon and ShadeJackrabbit anyway, it's not that bad... congratulations anyway! ;)

There is no restriction on theme or content, only the time limit of one week. The game can have more than one "room", but the one room guideline is a good goal if you want to finish on time.

So it's a lot like a WAGS, right?  :P

Anyway. You're rather likely to see my drawing style in the competition.

I think we all know that there can only be one genuine kind of team...

Wilhelm von Hadenberg and Hindenburg from Washed Ashore!

Because seriously, there is nothing like the bond between a WW1 soldier and his inexplicably animated toy blimp.

(I kind of like how the sprites have developed...  :P)

Puts back the 'fun' in 'villain'... or something.

The school I go to refers to itself as a Catholic Christian school, is run by an order of freaking nuns and doesn't have any "laws" like this whatsoever. Yet again, the world makes a little less sense.

Also, remember that the administration's decisions are null and void if you step a single inch off campus grounds. There has to be some sort of office that faces a street or something that doesn't belong to your college. You know what to do.

It's sure great for creating nerdy characters... although that's remotely looking like me at best.  :P

Anyway. Let's see if I can turn that thing into a semi-usable character file before I lose my motivation again.

It Would Also Be Nice If You Stopped Typing Like This. It Makes Your Posts A Little Hard To Read.

Akatosh! Will we be playing the evil character of your "Me Go" series?! ;D

That's also an idea, but... nah. I need to make something that doesn't have "Me Go" in the name so I can stand looking in the mirror again.  :P

/EDIT: Nope. Not this month, sorry. Again.
