Looks pretty nice, actually. The saturation is probably a bit high, but if you're going for cartoonic style, that's ok.

Ben Jordan: Actually We Didn't Make Up A Title Before And Just See What The Fans Come Up With And Pick The Best Suggestion?

No, wait, that's too long.

Ben Jordan: The subtitle fake?  :P

General Discussion / Re: NaNoWriMo

Dependant on how my different Drown-In-Work-And-Still-Manage-To-Slack-Around schemes work out, I might take a look at it. Because, after all, what matters is quantity, not quality, and if there's one thing I'm good at, it's long, tedious, over-stuffed sentences.  :=

Or, if the character comes from a cutscene-only room, you can check for the value of player.PreviousRoom. It depends on the situation, really.

Eep, I just recounted... replace everything I said before with praise on your awesome choice of palette.

I'm pretty sure that's more than 24 colors, Mr. Buckéthead.  :P :=

Completed Game Announcements / Re: AGS JukeBox

It seems that the file still exists... I haven't tried downloading it, but at least I don't get a 404 error.

In different news, finding out links that were on now-deceased websites via the Wayback Machine would make for a great puzzle in an adventure game.

/EDIT: Eh, I should have tried downloading it before posting. Sorry.

Well, while I'm already practising my pixeling skills, I might give this a go. Spot reserved... probably.
#929
Alright, thanks for all the advice, people. I shall try incorporating it in a different image, with decent non-copied line-art, better shading and coloring and most likely a higher resolution.   ;)

But for the games, looks like I'll be sticking with the "old" style  :P

Don't fear, it's just something I created out of boredom, El Presidente is fine as he is  ;)

Edit note, that char not are this game char.
I create better char for this game.

I also hope, that english not are this game english. You create better english for this game to tell story of a man of secrets?

Meanness aside, you should put some more work in your English. Seriously, do you translate your posts with the Google Translator?

Critics' Lounge / Another shot at pixel-art
Wed 17/10/2007 18:44:13
Against better knowledge, I've decided to go out and try giving (very) low-res pixel art a shot again, and thus created edit one of these free walkcycle images Eric was friendly enough to provide. Now I'd like to hear some crit about it, so I can improve and finally be able to do a game with at least semi-decent, not "Me Go Store!"-paintover graphics.

Anyway, meet... El Presidente! He lacks most shading right now because I couldn't leave that in Eric included (because it looked like El Presidente was wearing spandex) and I proved completly unable to do it myself.

Soo... whaddya think? I know it's not too good, but at least it's not AS bad as my last attempts  ;)

If you use the RawDraw approach, however, you can't put the name of objects in the room directly on them, as RawDraw alters the room background and objects are displayed in front of that.

I quite liked this game... granted, it pretty much handed me my ass after Wave 3, but until that "invulnerable sniper" (10 bullets and still not dead? Damn!) showed up, it was fun. Let's hope the Random Number Generator is a little more friendly to me next time  ;)

At least, it gives us the ability to be The People Who Discovered It Before It Got Popular.

Hint:
Spoiler

He doesn't have any hands... so how could he grab that key?

Another, more direct hint:
Spoiler

He'll need something you can attach to him that will enable him to pick it up.

Near solution:
Spoiler

That's a metallic key... what could be used to get a metallic key off a shelf?

I think I'd have just the thing ready for this... but it's not ok partially integrating other people's art, so I'm going to have to improvise a little.

I've never played Psychönauts, but I might give it a go after what I've heard about it.
#940
Somehow reminds me of obscure metal bands who feel their names sound more 'hardcore' when they replace a, o and U(the letter) with umlauts (Crüxshadows, I'm looking at you  ;)).

/EDIT: U(as letter) I wrote and U(as letter) I meant.
