Amazing stuff Steve.  Really good.  This could really cut down on some of the buttons on my GUI's.

I wonder does he do this on purpose?

Because I'm too retarded to figure out how to put a password on my .zip files.  :P

  • Ã,  Structs within Structs
  • Ã,  RawDraw commands using less memory, so that raw-drawing continously wouldn't render character movement so choppy.
  • Ã,  Online support for those of us who want to make MMORPG's or online board/card games.
  • Ã,  The word 'adventure' removed from the engine name.Ã,  That's so... limiting...
  • Ã,  Total conversion to Object-Based scripting (it's already helping so much ^_^)
  • Ã,  A way to add a password to the main game file, so one had to enter said password before editing the game.Ã,  Thus allowing better team efforts because one wouldn't be afraid to upload the sourcecode to share with teammates.
  • Ã,  Two or more script windows open at once, so one can edit the header, global, and room scripts without having to close down every time they need to change.Ã,  (Possible?)

Great, I'll do my best to enter!

(BTW, you need to add the closing parenthesis in "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demo_(computer_programming)", or it takes you to a wiki error page.)

EDIT:

Would it be legal for me to use the particle engine I made for a previous contest in doing this one?Ã,  The rules don't really say...

Look up "TextBoxes" in the manual.  That should get you started.

Oh, and welcome to the forums  :)

Sorry to say it, but It'll probably be a one horse race.  My idea to make this work... didn't work.  Aside from that, I'm really busy on my other projects.  Sorry all  :'(

I'll do my best to enter the next one though  :D

Spot on!  It appears that one of my while statements had a backwards > symbol   :-[

Thanks for the reply, the problem is solved now!  :)

I have a few functions in the top of my script.  Only one of them is imported in the header, because it's the only one that is needed elsewhere in the script.  I call that function in repeatedly_excecute:
Code: ags

...
Display("Some message.");
Display("Some other message.");
My_Function();
...

Now, within the function is a display message:
Code: ags

...
Display("A message.");
}  //<--- this bracket closes the function
...

When I run the game, the two messages in repeatedly_excecute are displayed, but the one that is from the function never shows up.  This is incredibly aggrivating.  Does anyone have a clue of what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks for any help in advance.

I think I understand what you mean.  I'll come back if it gives me any more trouble.  (Which I'm sure it will, what fun would game making be if you never ran into problems?)

I need to do something a lot like this.  I'm making a platformer/shooter where the character needs to be able to run left/right with his gun pointed straight, as well as being able to run left/right with his gun pointed up/down at 45 degree angles.  6 loops to make that.  It would be incredibly helpful if I could use Ashen's suggestion.  Are there any downsides to doing so?  I can't test it yet, as the animations aren't anywhere near complete.  Would it cause any problems that you can think of?

It is rather fun and exhilerating(sp) I should say.  I love it.  Around where I live though, it's hard to find a nice place to do it.  There aren't a lot of suburbian rails and walkways to practice on, so I mainly use stairs.  There's a grand staircase coming off West Mountain that's great to run on  :).  Fond memories...

Good to see you back again, it's been a while.  I'll check out the video when I have some more time.  For anyone who doesn't know what Parkour is, a quick google search will lead to some great learning sites.    :)

Someone should've started a new topic over a week ago... what's happening here?

EDIT:

It would appear that Tomas hasn't been online in some time, not since June 4th.  Perhaps a runner up should make the next topic?

Yikes!  I mean... awesome entry Steve.

Mine's still in the forges.  I'm pretty sure I'll finish before deadline.  I might be an hour or two late, but I'll finish the entry eventually  ;D.

This isn't going to be a two man race again is it....?

Quite lovely I should say.

The coloring you did looks great I think, very flowing and smooth.  The 'water' look was definately acheived.

Only one thing really catches my eye that I dislike.  Up near the top of her head, where the water comes out from behind her, it appears to be very very thin.  I mean, when it goes behind her at the waist, it is a little wide, but as it comes out from behind her head, it is very skinny.  It widens out quickly, but I think if you made it a little wider, it would look more flowing.  (I realize how hard it must be to understand what I just said  :P.  Oh well, I tried.)

Once again, a lovely work.

An 'item'?  What do you mean?  Is it an object?  If so, just move the object's baseline to the top of the screen, so the character will be drawn on top of it.

I just realized, I'm not going to be online on the 4th, or anytime soon after it, so if I win (not likely, I know), let the second place person make the next topic.  I'll be gone already.  (Once again, I'm not expecting to win, I just thought I'd put this here just in case).
