I worked it out after all... it seems windspeed was indeed being set to -2 through a previous randomizer.Ã,  I fixed it up, positive integers only nowÃ,  :)
What a silly mistake eh?

Code: ags

    if (a_envoverlay != null) {
      if (a_envoverlay.Valid) a_envoverlay.X += Random(windspeed);
    }

Now the same error is being generated, but for the line saying:

Code: ags

       if (a_envoverlay.Valid) a_envoverlay.X += Random(windspeed);

I'm very confused now....

I have begun the creation...  And it's name shall be called EnviornmentCreator, and it shall probably not but maybe somehow beat Ashen, Gord 10, khrismuc, and the other entries, but not likely.  It will likely be shamed and hated for it's simplicity or something like that... but we will see... won't we?..........no..... we won't.... I WILL, but YOU might not..... err..... The Creation Has Begun!!!  :-X

An exception 0xC0000094 occured in ACWIN.EXE at EIP = 0x00444F8B ; program pointer is +1004, ACI version 2.71.894, gtags (14,22)

(...)

in Enviornmental Effects (line 155)

I managed to get around this the first time it happened, but I don't know what exactly is making it happen.  I coded:

Code: ags

  Overlay* a_envoverlay;

At the beginning of my module script,  in one function I make a_envoverlay using CreateGraphical:

Code: ags

  a_evnoverlay = Overlay.CreateGraphical(...yadda yadda...);

The error is being generated by this line, which is located in the module's repeatedly_excecute_always() function:

Code: ags

  a_envoverlay.X += Random(speed);

What's happening?

Quickly!  Before my boredom manifests into a physical being and EATS ME ALIVE!!! Oh the inhumanity!!!  Make the next comp!!!  It's becoming more powerful by the second, it will erupt from my chest like a slavering bulldog any minute now to destroy me!!!

WTF man?  No one else is gonna vote?  When does the voting close?  Is buloght the winner now or what?  C'mon people, at least ATTEMPT to look at the entries and vote.  (Or let bulought win and decide the next comp... I'm bored already of nothing to do)

I think the ScrollUp(); ScrollDown(); for listboxes is an excellent idea.  Working with listboxes gives me a headache....

Mr.C:  Hrm... if no one replies, I'll probably just do that... hadn't really thought of it.

Eranan:  Static, please.

Well, technically it's still an ARI, but I plan on further development of it later on.  It creates a unique AI with a personnal name, picture (once this thread gets going), likes about several topics (math, movies, games), and likes/dislikes of sub-topics (algebra, geometry, computer programming, quantum physics).  It has mock conversations with the player character (conversation consists of ---------- for talking and !!!!!!!!!! for arguing, with a few emoticons expressed between 'phrases').  Once there are a decent amount of portraits, I'll upload a demo of the final.  As for a second example, two things, I don't have time, and .... why?  I'm leaving for the weekend after tonight anyway, so I wouldn't have time to make another example tommorrow either....  :(

Okay, using the new sprite, I developed a backside view... and I'm disappointed with it.

How can I improve this?

I'd still lower the vanishing point 5-10 pixels, but that's just me...

Okay, back from my other house to see the entries, and what's this?  None?  Hrm... are there too many restrictions?  They don't have to be good looking portraits, but I know I personally can't do ones that have enough variety to accomplish the diversity of the engine.  So, if there's a specific something that's holding you back, let me know so I can work around it or something.

That looks just like a Tagris (one of the creatures in my pathetic attempt at a fantasy novel)

Well then, I vote for buloght's entry, because it seemed like it had some pretty original and raw coding in it, and the idea of a secondary inventory works well in RPG's.  Still hope my entry wins though  :=

Are entrants allowed to vote (not for ourselves of course...)?
