I will check all the commands between guis and normal scripts, so see the capabilities... And I will start trying to use the total interface as GUI at first... but well, Let's see whats happens xD

Hi, I was very time out of AGs (two years), and don't know if there are relevant changes about the gui.
As I don't saw new games pushing the last capabilities of GUI use, I have some remembering questions about my limitations in the projection of my new little project.

I'm going to do a text adventure with graphics... I have simple questions about the GUI:

I remember that the gui script was a bit hard-coded... Like you can't animate buttons of the GUI by room scripts (I will need a permanent GUI with Health & hunger things, or a portrait showing positive and negative changes...) It's possible with the GUI, or is better to go representing the changing data room by room as "draw image"? Not only better... if is even possible. I know some thing is better to do in every room better rather than in the GUI (like the movement pad that I'm going to use, not the "north-east.." commands... maybe better one incluided in the room graphics with specific room translations...

Maybe I wasn't very good explaining myself, but maybe somebody of you can give a general answer, or some specific answer 'bout my questions

Yes yes, Is the kind of thing, my real interest in not making the game so complex, It's just that I want to personalize the screen way better than the current text-adventure creators gave you. Maybe a fusion of the picture of the game Jabato, and your screen. The important for me is to display big scenario images that lets the player sumerges more in the background, more than only the descriptions.

I'm thinking that I'm gonna start preparing the game and doing some graphics... And learn about the possibilities of AGS in this kind of game.

Nice to see you too, boys. Talking about other things, If I get the hans in AGS again, I will finally launch my old project, that is 99% finished xD But I will make a lot better in conversations and that, that was a bit weak.


Well, I tried Adriff, only tested two games, but the graphic options don't seems rigth to me. I was thinking in the hell-o-classic conversational adventures with graphics, with a wide graphic in the upper part of the screen, like this..:

Maybe THERE IS a creator able to make this easy.. but I simply don't find it. Finally I think I'm gonna have to work again with AGS, but the temptation of doing a game more like Heart of China, rather than a simply text adventure with graphics, is great... And then I know everything is gonna be a lot big and heavy and maybe not the entertaining thing I'm chasing to do....

Or a more RPG game, learning how to use Game Maker....:S

Somebody know a creator that allows easy to make a text adventure in the style of the pics?

Hi,

I know that I perfeclty can construct a graphic-text adventure with AGS, and graphically and arcade modes way better than the most text-adventure creators, and If I really want to make one and dont find a simple-but-user friendly I will get to AGS but...

Anyone knows a Modern userfriendly text adventure creator with graphic incoporation (like 320x240 shots)? I was surfing the web (the search tool of this forums doesn't work for me) and didn't found nothing New, or not graphic-marginal, as TAB-thinbasic.

I have allready scripted some games with AGS... so I'm not looking for something Wonderfully easy, simply, something with some modern interface to work off, and not a very bad graphic implementation.

Maybe is a silly question, but where I can get the cattails?
I have a lot of items (the other 3 items requested by Boma) But thougth swamp is supossed to be full of cattails, I can't get anyone U_U

Your game seems very promising!! The style is great, and I love the map (remembers the SNES rpg maps). I suppose there is some Simon the sorcerer inspiration too.

Mmm, the planet seems like have a NeoGeo scanlines effect meanwhile the moon has a complete plain color.

anyway, there is something strange in the ilumination of the moon respect the planet. The planet has no shadows, and the moon is partially-completly in shadows. And the player has the same point of view of the two astral objetcs.

Anyway, a great EGA planet!!

I think your "pop-girl" style is cute and can be atractive in a mid-long game, with a little more acurate graphics. I loved the dancing animation.

Also, take consideration in increase the playability, (hotspots, and the pixel-finding in using items with objects)

congrats for you first mini-super-game ;)

But is supposed that Shai-la don't die, only is defeated and the heal droid go to heal her....

I only found it strange.

And why in the hell the jawas attack you without provocation? xD Maybe I'm not a good knower of jawas, but I don't know if they autodetect siths and attack they :\

Is really incredible how fast you can make games, you need to have much spare time xD

The game is really fine, the animations are very good and the intros and cutscenes are great.

There are some bugs that you may know... When you die in tatooine you need to Land again, is strange. And the combat is a bit orthopedic, you need to be in a very special position to can attack, makes the combat a bit difficult.

Go on making this great games!

I will just plaid if  Sierra make just new adventure games...

I love Magna Cum Laude (...... problems here? xD) but isn't and adventure game.

For good sake, is no need to make a classic outdated adventure game (Like the feel I got with space quest 6), but anybody can make good news adventures game (whereas the midquality of Broken Sword 3) that can be good for much people to play... And if they are about a classic theme, like Space Quest or King Quest... better.

What you say to a Police Quest, Broken swordish3d/gran theft auto style? xD

Anybody more gots a trojan alarm with the executable? I tried two times to extract the game from .rar after cleaning the computer in the first alarm, and got the alarm the second time :S

I think the style of the desert background with the scapepod is enougth good, but yes, the BG with the random pixels yellow-green hurts a little.

Anyway, if anyone cannot do good graphics, Simply make a better effort with script and puzzles.

About the 3d graphics in adventure games, I think they have a good job in games like Grim fandango (a little outdate today), Broken Sword 3 or Dreamfall (and sure others than I don't know). The problem with 3d games is that the producers put more money in graphic designers than in scripters, programmers, and puzzle creators. But this is a situation fixeable by coherent gamemakers.

I'm sure if if one day I want to my girlfrind play this epic adventure game, she will be more pleased to play with this graphics, than the originals; And that is a Good Thing.

And I will congratulate Lucas, or EA, or the hell they are, for making play good games to more people!

Precisely I was beating up MI and MI2 in my Nintendo DS this days, and I was thinking how anybody done yet a remake or enchanced MI game of quality.

For the old players, Remaked MI is going to be another excuse to play the game AGAIN.

Oh my god, clasist and elitish people, take it easy, man. It's only a remake to capture new public... The original game still exists!
People don't will go to your houses to tell about the New game Lucas has invented!

As Guybrush Peepwood will said..." Insignificant remake".

Seems splendid! I really hope Shai-la really go trougth the 2 trilogies and know even expanded universe people... I'm master of StarwarsRPG and your game seems very interesting ^^
