great improvement, entry_level_model!

Here are my suggestions for the next version:

* fix the window perspective, at least on a glance it looks a bit funny
* the shadow is too hard and too intensive, if it's supposed to be daylight coming in, the right wallwould be only slightly darker and cast a rather diffuse shadow
* the corners on the left look much more blurry than on the right, it is very annoying to the eye.

otherwise good!

Being in a hurry, just some colorful details (badly and randomly applied) to get the idea over how to make the picture more interesting...

Also: not only the glass would break in a crash, some of the panels would hang loosely scratches and burns etc...

For everyone interested in this great, great woman (and a real babe, now as then - I have to admitÃ,  :-*) here is a good link.

Etcher you might want to promote your game there?

Nice first game. Pelican! I will note the things that could use improvement later - it's all meant in a constructive way, OK?

It shows great potential, no big mistakes and it rolls down smoothly.

The dialogues, the idea and the character great!!!

BUT (yes there always is one)

you should have taken maybe more time for this. While some rooms (or most of them) show great potential, some have simply an unfinished look (eg. the cave) That's a pity since you CAN produce great graphics. Also the walkcycle looks rather improvised...

Even for a short game this one is way too short and too easy - just my thoughts...

One little bug (or maybe not?) even after reading the plants book, the description of the wishlist ends with "what's that flower" (or something like that)...

I didn't really like the music to be honest - it is much too monotonous even for the very short game time.

And last: "Rincegust" !?

It seems you are trying to draw an AH64-A/D. The old version from the 80's (no Lonbow radar system) - I LOVE THIS MACHINE! (har-har-har)

Notes:

It has a crew of two, one (pilot) sitting down right in the nose, the other one (weapons & tactic eng.) having his knees roughly above the other guys shoulders.
It has 4 rotor wings (@ Neutron)
The firmpoint wings look very different.
It does not have that many corners in the back (only reason for those is to eliminate any "shot traps" - known from tank design)

I built five models of this engine so far, so I know it's looks quite well (never attempted to draw it though)

I had the same problem - these are the steps I took to solve it:

- first I blocked access to all the sites in my history I didn't explicitly name to visit
- I pushed the privacy and security bars as high as possible
- used Panda Antivirus (gets many installers down) and Ad-Aware from Lavasoft to kill most tracking shit
- I manualy removed any programs from the registry I didn't install myself.
- since I knew the date the BPFU happpened (I visited an "art gallery" in UK) I next listed all files modified since then and deleted each and every one I didn't know belongs to the system and is supposed to be changed (I killed windows about 3 times by this, but it recovers itself in case of "hardwired" XP)
- One last thingy was left... a senseless process that boosted the "winlogon" prog to run constantly and block 50% of my CPU power, 80% of mem and 90% of my LAN traffic. Remiving this bugger was tricky:

It had a regentry that installed another regentry automaticaly if it was erased. One was called "Save On Net Traffic" - quite obviously something you would kill, but the other one, the real installer was called "WinUpgrade" or something similar. But by reading bootlogs with care I found out, this can't really be anything by µ$oft so I blocked access to it, then deleted the other one and restarted, now I could remove the installer and my problems were gone.

It took me altogether about 12 hours of intensive work to accomplish this.

Since then (6 months ago) I am using Panda on full setting, Windows Firewall and Ad-Aware (scans after each session) and full security on IE (the "don't touch or accept unless I tell you to"-setting). Besides the Windows updates help a lot (don't forget to check security patches for office though, otherwise your Outlook is your weakest point!). I am still attacked from time to time but so far I could prevent FUs (knock on wood, walk around the house, spit over the left shoulder...)

Hope this little novel helps you Edwin Xie...

Yippie-kay-yeah - this is just the kind of game I hoped someone will soon post.

Just played for the first 10 minutes and I already LOVE it.

Mostly because of the main character - she's so incredibly sexy (and anyone who read my "in production theread" knows I know what I am talking about)!

Graphics are great, dialogues have an original and intelligent way of cracking me up and I really want to know what will happen next. Oh, and wait 'till you hear that music!

I will come back to youÃ,  Ola, when I played it through - but I wish this one gives me hours and days of entertainment!

Ola thanks for this one! (any chance you are/were illustrating kids books - because of the style?)

EDIT:

QuoteCuz she's been a major element of slavic folklore for centuries?Ã,  Cuz my parents would tell me to clean my room or else Babayaga would eat me?

...how come your parents told you the same mine told me?Ã,  :)

Using the 100th post to tell you what I look like, or show you or something, and so on.

Yes this sounds cool - and I start to develop a real liking for your games Boris!

(ad causa Hi-Res: I am playing all games in window mode because I hate anything blocky - thus I am absolutely for the idea of making everything as Hi-Res as possible. I had to (like everyone else) put up with blocky graphics for 20 years, now I want em smooth and round whenever, whereever - just my two cens)

Beginners' Technical Questions / Re: Flic?

Oh boy,

I was hoping someone could answer him/her what a Flic exactly is and which software is used to make it - because I want to know too... I googled, but all I found is people dicussing how to put them on the Win Desktop and such...

The Ben Jordan threads would definitely be the place to ask this instead of making a new thread (a short lived one I am sure) or sending a PM to the game owner/creator...

I agree on both - and yes, both is intended...

thxs 1 thing is how do you create your own special characters and with weopens they can use eg:bow&arrow firing and killing another person.thats the last thing

Just go to menu help/make my game...  ;)

(sorry, I tried - but I think you completely misunderstand the nature of AGS (or what it is). Please follow Darth Mandarb's advice before asking more questions)

might be a bit off-topic, but I remember using DeluxePaint 3 (!) back in 1989 on my Comodore Amiga 500... (and no I don't remember much about it)
#39
Take it easy Zoraphus, maybe he/she needs just a little push to get going...

I suppose you have created a background image in the correct size and color depth, right?

now go back to AGS and click as on the picture bellow

choose the file and lean back...

Hi spooky,

I am sure a lot of people are ready to help, but you maybe should be more specific. If you don't understand the tutorials in the manual or on this page, just post the exact point where you "snapped out".

It seems you have problems with importing spries and backgrounds?
Quote
The Background

Now, the first thing you need to do is draw the background for the room. Depending on what resolution you want to run the game at, you should draw it at either 320x200, 320x240, 640x400 or 640x480. Also, make sure your image is created at the colour depth that you chose earlier for the game.

Draw the image in your favourite paint package, and once done, save it as a BMP or PCX file. Then, return to the AGS Editor, and click the "Import Background" button.

Find the file you just created, and click Open. If you get a message asking which resolution the image is drawn for, select the appropriate option. (You are asked this because a 640x480 image, for example, could either be a full-screen image for a 640x480 game, or it could be a scrolling background for a 320x200 game).Ã,

You should see the black area in the bottom part of the Editor replaced by your image.

which part of this tutorial are you having proplems with?
