What is a Photoshop Phrenzy?

See this link:
http://www.somethingawful.com/photoshop/

And for other examples, see here:
http://www.worth1000.com/

The two above websites should give a fair idea of what is involved. Also you can check out the earlier Photoshop Phridays in this forum.

Note: Photoshopping isn't drawing a completely new image -- It's editing images to create a new image, such as editing one image or combining several images.

Also, you don't have to specifically use Photoshop -- Paint Shop Pro, MSPaint, or any other programs can be used.

I'm going back to university this week so the topic is:

BACK TO SCHOOL
I demand professional or AGS characters going back to school, like Minimanny here:

Restrictions:
You will be marked on your spelling.
No chewing.
Please post boy, girl, boy, girl.

That is all.

I'm pleased to see the troglodytes have good taste in movies.

I don't have a list of 'places to go underneath', but I do have a list of people to go underneath, so I'll put it on that instead, just above Ewan McGregor but below my Geography Teacher.

Why not use Paris as an in with the Geography teacher? 2 birds 1 stone.

Ghostface is the name of the killer in the Scream trilogy, which is ironically, my favorite movies.

It really works well! It reminds me of some Warner Brothers cartoons where the backgrounds were coloured loosely, but in just the right way to create atmosphere.

I'd be interested to see how interactive objects and items that can be picked up could be made to fit in without standing or blending in out too much.

I'm glad the American government asked our government to join the team!

Yeah, it was sweet of the US to ask Britain to join in too. We would have felt completely left out if they'd gone down to the park to play war without calling on us.

On the subject of the French, I'd like to point out that the States went to the UN for a resolution that would support their invasion of Iraq. Any attempt to block the resolution would be reffered to by the US as a 'reckless veto'. By saying, the States successfully scuppered any attempt to prevent the war and disenfranchised other members of the UN. It was a cynical and supremely arrogant move which really shows what little interest the Bush administration has in the troublesome matter of other nations.

And if freedom fries was meant as a joke, I assume the war in Iraq was the punchline.

Ali is an easy-to-type and non-gender-specific abbreviation of my less-easy-to-type and gender-specific forename Alasdair.

I'm not sure but I think this has been done before. Ã,  Maybe this should be added to the popular threads area if it hasn't been already.

I remember there being a thread like this a while ago, and I second that suggestion.

Oddly and unexpectedly, the most interesting film I've seen recently covering Iraq wasn't Michael Moore's, but a BBC4 documentary by Sean Langan (who made Travels of a Gringo).

He met US forces and members of the Iraqi resistance. The odd thing is, only a few people from each group were the maniacs I might have expected. The vast majority seemed like relatively reasonable people. The blame was clearly laid on those politicians responsible for the situation that these individuals were in.

I think it's terrific, It reminds me of the Morph cartoons. The only thing I'd suggest is altering his dive little, just before he disappeats his arm is in an odd position - a little close to his body I think.

Thanks for the notes guys, I'm considering doing something to the glare as auhsor suggested, but I'd be interested to know what kind of font you'd suggest cpage. A more refined engraver's font maybe?

Admit it Farsight, you didn't draw this picture! You faked the whole thing in the desert outside Vegas! Look, those stars are obviously just black-painted midgets with ping-pong balls stuck to them!

Ahem...

I'd suggest that, if this is meant to be Earth's moon, the horizon line be made less curved - it's small but it's not that small. The horizon should a near-straight line, as long as characters are intended to walk on this bg. You should also consider adding small mountains in addition to craters.

Fnal and regrettable confirmation of Scotland's 'comedy nation' status.

Though the Scottish aren't too famous for wasting money. I reference Billy Connely: "My father dropped a fifty pence piece - bent to pick it up and it hit him the back of the neck."

And when I hear "wabsite" I think of Elmer Fudd saying "rabsite".

I'm there!

Actually I'm here, but If I had more money and time, I'd be watching films noir in a secret skull lined cavern.

Paris is now top of my 'places to go underneath' list.

The community has proven that even by Adventure fan standards I'm nerdy, but it's also shown me that internet forums aren't as objectionable as I imagined they would be (or at least that this forum isn't as unpleasant as I imagened all forums would be).

Also, I suspect Andail might have a Popular Thread on his hands here...

I made a few alterations:

No radical changes (except the tinting and the company name), but I think the flower head looks a little nicer - I added a weak light near it. It's probably barely noticeable without close comparison, but I think it will strike the first-time-viewer better this way.

I thought these colours better communicated a sense of decay than the colder blue, what do you think?

Thanks for your observations. Alec, you haven't told me wat you think!

Quote from: DanClarke on Tue 07/09/2004 02:05:32
a logo is something you should be able to put anywhere, and i cant personally see that fitting onto a letterhead or businesscard

I thought with this being a very simple scene it wouldn't be difficult once it's finished to create a stark b/w version that would work in the ways you describe, with this being a more elabourate version for the start of a game.

Quote from: DanClarke on Tue 07/09/2004 02:05:32
the photo has clearly been lit with the vase in mind only, so the flower seems to appear 'unwelcome' in the image.

Alec asked me for a picture of dead flowers, so I intended for it to look a little unwelcome. It isn't a photo though (did you really think it was?) it's a 3d image, which means I could add a few highlights on the flower if they'd help pull the image together. You guys seem to think it would!

I'm currently working on a version with a few more petals around the place, and droopier stem.

The Charge of the Light Brigade was a historic warfare mistake, but perhaps not of the kind this sprite jam demands...

Here's a not-really-an-entry.

Can YOU spot the historical innacuracy? Hollywood couldn't...

Yes, of course it's missing a noteworthy homosexual mathemetician.

Princess Anne visited my college. Unfortunately, I had an essay due the next day so my 'kidnap her' plan never really got off the ground.

I was too busy even to follow through on my 'shout at her' plan.

Have you ever wondered about the fact that he is a tad too blonde to be persian?

I was wondering exactly that yesterday (except on the Master System the sprite has brown hair). It follows the same principle of Disney's Aladdin - the more arabic you look the more evil you are. It's a simple rule, and easy to remember!

I don't know anything about this 'Beethorgen', but I agree I'd like to see old games be made freely available. Actually, I'd be happy to pay - I just wish someone was prepared to sell them to me.

Maybe one day I'll be able to get 100 classic 2D adventures in a bundle for £5, like Infocom Masterpieces. Until that day comes...
