Yeah I know its not a day everywhere... but it is where I come from... and really shouldn't all fathers be recognized for the things they do... well the good fathers anyway... like me... except mines not all that happy... hard to be happy when you are on the other side of the world than what your kids are...

but to all the dads out there....

For one thing... the window looks more like a picture, you need to have a sil around it so it has some depth to it.

Other than that, some shading would be nice... unless the no shading thing is what you are going for...

Oh and if that is a picture, disregard...

I don't think he deserves a cushion on that stool in front of the computer....

Actually why don't you just remove the whole seat part completely and just have a rounded tube sticking up....

Actually in an odd way, I like the realistic char, shoddy bg thing... just something about it that interests me greatly...

But what do I know... my characters are mostly 20 pixels high and 18 across... but they sure are cute though :P

well I no longer play... basically ever since I became an immortal, and now we are building a brand new one from near scratch... which is wehre I am now building my little heart out with my offline building program for the old mud... which I guess now I need to code up a new one for the new file system the new mud will use... I wish I could build online... but they have the damn ports blocked out here... been playing the same mud for 8 years now.... man thats a bunch of wasted life :P

Try getting shot at, and mortars going off around you...

Rockets make a SSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAA noise as they fly over head... followed by a loud explosion....

All this within 2 days of me being in Iraq.... it still happens, but not as often...

We just got attacked... about 11 mortars hit...  But I'm fine... in fact... I was surfing these very forums when it happened...

How do you propose to use 2 items at once as it is only possible (someone correct me otherwise) to have one in use at a time with player.activeinv.

If you want the two items to combine, you need to do a inventory used on inventory, and in the script remove the first two items and place the third "combined" inventory item in the inventory, then when that item is used on teh chararacter he says the third thing...

IE if your 3 inventory items are BALL BAT, and BALLANDBAT for your character interaction you under inventory item used place this code (or similar)

if (player.activeinv == BALL) DisplaySpeech(EGO, "It's a ball.");
else if (player.activeinv == BAT) DisplaySpeech(EGO, "It's a bat.");
else (player.activeinv == BALLANDBAT) DisplaySpeech(EGO, "LET'S GO PLAY BASEBALL!!!");

meh... hopefully you get the idea.

Same with winzip, I'm not an expert, but what it seems to me, the graphics add some, but not near what the actual size of the graphics are, WAV's don't compress very well, midi's do somewhat...

What I am thinking that decreases the size so much is the bytecode (guessing it's mostly text based) which as most of us know, text compresses very well... I've found that adding tons of new script seems to blow up the size of the game more than other things do.

I think what he means is on 800X600 resolution he wants the center of the starts to origionate from 200, 120...  so it looks like they are actually traveling to a location not directly in front of the view screen, (like on a triagular shaped ship inside a room) as like in star trek the stars in the rooms are actually traveling longways on the ship....

Thats just a guess though

Well... as an insider let me tell you what I know.

Many Iraqis live in dumps... I don't mean figuratively... They built little shacks in the middle of dumps and live there... Scrounge around in the dumps to find things to fix, and sell. I work with these guys... we sign a bunch on every day to do work around our camp... They get paid 5 dollars a day. While that seems like very little to you and me, you have to figure their average electric bill is 1 US dollar a month. We don't treat them like slaves, in fact, we have gotten to know many of them pretty well. Every once in awhile though you have to be hard with them just to get them to work, as they sometimes like to not work (but they still get the same pay)... We have to have our weapons with the amunition in them, not to threaten them, but on the off chance we have to protect ourselves.

Most of these guys just want to make decent money and take care of their families. They want shelter, food, and things of that nature. Just like everyone. We try to give them that.

The only thing about these guys that I just can't understand is when we get attacked my mortars, we have to yell at them to get them to come into shelter, they actually stand up and look for where they hit. The following is an exact quote between myself and one of the workers, during an attack.

"Mister, mister!" *points at sky* "Look bombs!"
*Me just inside the bunker*
"No shit sherlock, get the fuck in here."

Again, most of the people realize that we are just here to keep the place stable while their own government sets up. They know that we don't want to occupy them. One has even said to me.

"Bad guys, no good, they kill women and children. American, very good, they help, and pay good."

In their opinions of the whole scandal, yes, they are not happy with it, but they also know from experience that not EVERYONE is like those soldiers, just as we know not EVERYONE is like those sunsabitches that are out there, taking potshots from the shadows, and murdering civilians...

CreateGraphicOverlay would work as well. In fact, I suggest that more than a GUI. I'm not sure why though.....

Jebbus!!! Just out of curiosity, I decided to check my download counter and see how many downloads of my little demo...

Over 700..... I'm amazed I'm astounded... I'm... confused why anyone would download this crap!

But anyway, I just wanted to say thanks to all the well wishers and the nice things said about it, and I'm giving myself some more free advertising by bumping this thread to the top.

I'm wondering now if I should risk having my wife email my source folder to me and start working on it out here in the desert... Twould suck to have my game blown up... but anyway...

I feel a bit crazy today.
