I would like to submit my game for consideration:

Emily Enough: Imprisoned

I'll leave it up to the masses to determine what it should be nominated for, but it's a fun & creepy game with a different story, good graphics and I worked damn hard on it.

Cheers,

Logan

I just think that with the front on perspective and high vanishing point, the slanted cieling isn't visible, you'd actually see the roof.  Or am I wrong?

Critics' Lounge / perspective/cieling question

Hey, I just started out on this room but it's not looking right.  It's supposed to be an upstairs room where the cieling slants down heavily on the right like an attic.  But it just doesn't seem to look right.  How do I fix it?

I think it's a good idea as well.  Considering they change the "Pick's of the Month" about twice a year, it's smart to just randomly select titles to be showcased.

I actually just bought a PA set up for my band.  What we ended up doing was buying a used Yamaha powered amp and getting a little Behringer 10 channel mixer.  The amp was $120 US and the mixer was about $70 US.  It's loud as hell (the speaker is bigger than my 4x12 guitar amp).  I suggest trying to find a used instrument store...so long as they're honest, you can usually get a great deal.

If you take away the download requirement, you might get lots of people posting unfinished or nonexistant games.  On the other hand, if the games page is there to list all released AGS games, then commercial games should be added.  But on the third hand, if people are going to sell there game, then maybe we should just say, "you're on your own!  Good luck!"

I'm sorry you think they're boring.  Do you have any suggestions for how to make them more interesting?  What exactly makes them so boring?  Should I give up and just throw myself off a bridge?

Go nuts Thomas, you have my blessing.

Sorry to dredge this thread up after so long, but I'm back from vacation and wanted to post my revisions and comment on the posts.  I've taken most of Scotch's paintover ideas, though I tried doing them myself for the most part.  I also fixed the perspective problems...it was really only the window that was off.  DonB, you're right about curtains, but since this is an old farm house in a rural area on the second floor, I wasn't too concerned.

I've got too final versions here, one lighter and one darker.  I've adjusted the contrast/brightness on the hallway to conform with the bathroom (which i think looked better).  The darker backgrounds look even better to me.  My only concern is that you might be unable to see them in some monitors.  This might have to do with what Progz was saying...on my monitor at home the colors are all visible and it's great to look at, but when I looked at them through my dad's monitor the screenshots looked almost pitch black.  Even here at work the screenshots look really dark, and the darker versions are barely visable---and I have the contrast and brightness set at 100%.  What can account for this?

Happy new year!!!!  My girlfriend is hugging the toilet and refuses me entry to the bathroom.  What a great way to bring in the new year!  Feliz Navidad?  What does that mean!?

Great paintover scotch, and thanks for the comments everyone.  It's 4:41am and though I'd love to respond to everyone, I have to get to the airport!  I'll be out of touch till after the holidays (most likely) but I'll respond and work on this more when I get back.

Thanks & happy holidays/merry christmas/happy new years!

Logan

P.S. Hammerite --it's not a darkseed remake.  The story for this game will kick darkseed's ass.  Maybe.

Hi, can I get some feedback on this bathroom?

I'm not entirely satisfied with the walls, I'm thinking there is a small light on the cieling, and then a little light coming in from the windows...but it looks a little off.  Also, I'm wondering how this room looks in comparison to this hallways I made a little while ago.  Do they look like they'd be in the same house?

I was wicked excited when I finished creating my first AGS game.  I called over one of my best friends to give it a go.  He sat down, and after maybe 4 minutes of reading the intro/story dialogue he turned to me and asked, "Is this it?  It's just reading?"

He wanted mobilized infantry units and GDI bases, and wasn't expecting to just sit there and read.  Granted, my game wasn't all that great but I thought it was at least a little funny.  He just didn't get the genre, and sort of refused to play it.  I think there is a disconnect between what gamers have been conditioned to expect from games and the wide array of what games can offer.  I don't think people are stupider than they were 10 years ago, they just expect something different.  When I first played King's Quest II in 198?, I didn't have any expectations because computer games were entirely new to me.  These days people expect guns, or heavy graphics, and fast paced action.  That's fine, but we're sorta left out in the cold.

With that said, I think adventure games will always be appealing to children and especially parents.  They're great learning tools.  To reach wider audiences, I think we as developers need to step up and write better than average stories.  How many times can you break out of a jail cell, or um, mental institution.  I mean, give me a break!  :-\

I'm just waiting for someone to create a video game that features "adventure" elements and a story that rivals classic literature.  It's bound to happen sooner or later.

I remember Kyrandia:

I've only ever played the first one all the way through, and it's really fun.  The only thing that annoyed me was the gem puzzle.  I should break out the other two games, they're on my hard drive I've just never gotten around to playing them.

I have an old copy of Sonic Foundry Vegas and Sound Forge.  It works like a charm.

Good memory!  Holy crap, I was using that darkseed shot for inspiration/reference!  I never actually played the game but the graphics are very cool.  For this one, I actually used the perspective as a reference and went from there.  It was quite helpful.

The graphics are absolutely stunning.  But the flash interface kinda sucks.
