You're absolutely right Darth. Thanks for teaching me this valuable lesson! I'm going to go outside and burn down a forest right now.  Then I'll go do some dishes for three hours.

How is this an un-earth friendly dishwasher?  From these features i'd say it's very earth friendly by the way dishwashers go.

And from this German study, modern eco-friendly dishwashers like the one above, when full, use half the energy and one-sixth of the water.

And Prog, it's just a pledge...they won't hunt you down if you don't do it.  But I will if you don't help a brother out!

No, they don't send you junk mail.  They initially just send you handy tips to get rid of junkmail, and then one email a month telling you about their latest earth-saving contest.

If you don't want to sign up for this reason though, I fully understand.

Cheers,

Logan

I know I haven't been around in a while, so i feel bad asking for help, but it's coming down to the wire...

I've entered a contest sponsored by New American Dream, an environmental organization. The person who gets the most people to pledge to ditch their junk mail will win a Clutterbusters' home make over, and second place is a new dishwasher. I'm in 5th place right now, and with your help, I can win!

All it takes is your name and email address, and you'll get quick instructions on how to rid yourself of junk mail.  Just click here .  And yes, if you sign up with this link, it's for "Mandie" who is my partner.  It's actually a really helpful program, and a smart campaign.  Plus, my house is overflowing with junk and dirty dishes.

The less junk and dirty dishes I have, the more games I can make!  If I win, I totally promise to release a game in the next month.  Seriously. But it won't be Square John Boy. :'(

Thanks,

Logan

That's cool that they reviewed it.  Is this a popular website?

Hi there everyone,

I've been really absent from the community for the past few months, and for that I'm sorry.  Christmas arrived with Playstation 2, a new graphics card and super-distracting games for my pc.  Then my computer died.  And now I'm in the middle of buying a house.  Needless to say, I was making excellent progress on Square John Boy then everything went to hell.  I did make an update in the first post a while back without bumping the thread, but to sum things up--all the backgrounds are done and now i'm doing animations.  I hope to get back to work at this and finish it.

I wanted to show some character art to prove to you that I have in fact been working on this.  Here are my main characters:

HENRY
Our disturbed and troubled hero.  He can't talk and he can barely think straight, but he's the only person who can solve the mystery of his mother's disappearance.

AMANDA
Henry's little sister.  She's a curious and talkative, happy despite her surroundings.

MARCIA
This is Henry's poor mother.  She'd never hurt a sole, but it would seem that she wasn't so lucky.

JIM
McDaniels Sr. is an angry, drunken man.  It's best to stay out of his way when he's nearby.

ROXY
This admirable citizen doesn't often get out of bed unless it's to refresh her gin & tonic or to scream at Henry and his sister.  She showed up at the McDaniel's house shortly after Marcia's disappearance.

I wish you had responded earlier!  I ended up getting the Radeon X1600PRO 256MB, I hope it's ok...

Thanks for the help Boyd, I was turned onto this thread by Matt: http://www.techspot.com/vb/all/windows/t-65381-Help-about-video-cards.html

which seems to be my question answered.  I think I might go with this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102069

Spend a little bit more but have a better card in the long run.  Do you know anything about the Radeon X1600PRO?

well i just put together a new pc six months ago that i got off of tiger direct, i just plugged in my old graphics card.  I don't know if it supports the AGP speed that i have, mainly because i don't know what that means...

Well, it's good to know that this is at least a step up, but maybe i'll still go for something slightly better.

I received an unexpected present from my in-laws over Christmas in the form of a ATI Radeon 9550 256 mb graphics card.  I've been meaning to upgrade my current card, which is a GeForce4 Mx 440.  I really know nothing about graphics cards, and I've been trying to read up on it, but I still feel lost.  Everyone names their products with "edgy" code words like Grafx Masterz 5939302mx and none of it makes sense to me.

From what I've read, this 9550 card is another budget card that my or may not be only slightly better than the one I've got.  I kinda wanted something a bit better, hopefully between 100-200 bucks.  Can anyone give me advice?  Is there something out there in that price range that is way better than this 9550 thing?

I think they bought it from Best Buy for 60 bucks, and since I don't have a receipt my only option is to buy something from there as a replacement.

So, does anyone know if this card is worth holding onto?  There's a BFG GeForce 6600 OC at Best Buy for 150 bucks that I'd buy, but is it worth it?

Thanks in advance,

logan

No no, you did not insult my fundamental beliefs about drawing.  I was just wondering if it did in fact actually matter that i was using more colors. Like, what your  reason was for saying that.

Was I being aggressive?  Sorry.

Thanks for the edits guys.  I'll work on this more and post the results.

Well, maybe if someone who's a moderator cares enough, they'll merge the two threads.  I didn't think it would matter, since I want advice on a different image.  It's not like I'm some troll that litters the forums with useless threads.

Since you were all so helpful with my front view, can I get some advice on this side view of my mean guy?  The vanishing point in my backgrounds is set rather high, so this profile shouldn't appear to be directly side on...but I'm afraid it might.

I'm also not sure that he looks as bulky as the front view.  Any comments would be appreciated.

Why does it matter how many colors I use?  It shouldn't slow down the game, unless you're running on a 486 or something.  Maybe it's time consuming for me, but if I don't care, what's it matter?
#59
It's meant to be a cowlick.  I kinda like it.

Don't worry Aussie, I won't hold it against you.

Here's a hopefully final edit, with the arms out a bit, a new belt for beating his children, and some darker shading.  Oh, and he's totally got a package now. Thanks Progz!
