What's a KOL game?

I think it's kinda funny that this guy's dick is evoking such a vocal reaction among board members.  I wonder if this largely male board would be telling Fizz to put cloth over this person's parts if it were large breasts or perhaps a vagina....

hmmmm.

I like the artwork!  I hope you will be doing a similar hell scene on the other side of the ceiling?

Well, if she was in New Brunswick, she would have been in St. John -- St. John's would be in the province of Newfoundland. Just so you know.

Oh, yeah, I know that...but I always get it mixed up.  Sorry!  I've always wanted to visit up there, just because my grandma told some cool stories...

But the story is that my grandma's family, the Belyeas, were loyalists during the American Revolutionary War...they were living in Tarrytown, New York at the time, and then obviously their side lost and they had to get out of the area fast to avoid...unpleasantness.  Supposedly the King of England granted them a bunch of land up there and they were a prominent family and maybe still are, I dunno...

Not that it's passed down the generations.  They divided up the family estate maybe ten years ago, my grandma got an inheritence check in the mail for $350 dollars.  She bought an air conditioner.   Big Whoop.

Well anyway, that's cool that you know of this place...

Also, I think it was Lucas and Carrie Fischer who decided together in the first movie that she would do a faux british accent as her "government official" voice.

oh, i guess that makes sense.Ã,  still a little strange though...given her normal vocal inflections are rather gruff.

"During filming Ewan McGregor made lightsaber noises as he dueled. It was noted and corrected during post production."

That is awesome.Ã,  Ewan McGregor is awesome.Ã,  He's the only saving grace to those movies...besides maybe yoda, samuel l jackson and the light saber fights.Ã,  But seriously, Ewan McGregor is a great actor.

The worst thing about the first two movies is the dialogue, and direction.  They make Natalie Portman enunciate every work to the point of ridiculousness.  So instead of saying "I'm" she says "I am"  and instead of "don't" it's "do not."  Yeah, Yeah, she was a queen and all that...but coming from an American it just sounds idiotic.  They should have cast someone british who could get away with that kind of thing...(that reminds me, notice how princess leia in the original uses a faux british accent on and off throughout the first movie?  what's up with that carrie fisher?!?)

And our boy who plays Anakin...god awful! He overacts to point of sheer and utter melodrama .  Plus, he's such a pretty boy.  I just want to punch him.

No, i'm not bitter,  I swear.

And the other thing...why did George Lucas go nuts with the CGI?  Every little thing has to be a cartoon (or at least that's what it looks like.)  I'm sorry, but i like the look of the battleship models turned imperial destroyers...the graphics were better in the Clones movie...but still.  It reminds me of the remake of Episode IV, and the scene with Jabba...i watched a little documentary on it, and they said they spent a year doing that Jabba.  I felt utterly awful for them, because it really didn't pay off.

Woh.  Ok.  I'm going to stop.  I'm sure this has all been said before, and that i'm coming across as a psycho star wars dork...but I just grew up loving the trilogy, so I just wanted the new ones to be at least decent.

I like Snake's suggestions a lot.  My current project went through a ton of changes, and if I had posted about it months ago, the info would have been completely obsolete by now.  Having a solidified plot/story-line is a must!  None of this "I'm thinking it will be about blah blah blah crap. ::)

my 2 cents

I also wish i still had one of the old 386s around...they probably got sold at yard sales long ago...

then i could actually play these games.  I know there's ways to get em to work, but i just seem to slow to figure it out.

kinda funny, at the time i was cursing that 386 cause it wasn't fast enough, and now my machine is just too fast for my old beloved games.

and yes, it's the OS too, but whatever...

so you're saying that i can have the front image as her idle pose, and then i should draw an extreme side view just for when she's walking...and then when she stops walking she can return to the front image that i like (the front that is slightly angled?)...cause i was thinking about it last night...i really just like that "front" image and want that to be seen as the normal image...

Yeah, i like what you did with her hair...it gave more depth.  I think i'll fool around with that.

Thanks for both suggestions!  And i'm glad you like it.

Right, but there's no option off for entry point dialogue...i guess that was my question...

but Hotspot's suggestion should work fine.  Thanks guys.

Ah, of course.  Thanks!

Hi, haven't found this in a thread so...

When my main character first talks to a certain character, I want her to say something on only that first conversation.  So when she first meets this guy she says, "Hey you, what's your problem."  But then the next time the player clicks on that charcter to talk, it will just go to the dialogue topics.

I though maybe there would be a turnoption off for an entry point line, but i haven't seen one.  Will i have to do something more complex?  and if so, how?

The screen shots look very interesting!  I look forward to playing it.

Originally from Connecuticut, in the US.  Currently, I live in Washington, DC.

Ozwalled, where in New Brunswick do you live?  My grandmother was from St. Johns.  Her family was exiled there...literally...

Man, I wish I had held onto all the boxes of my old computer games...these days i would put them on their own bookshelf...but when you're eight you don't think that at age 23 you'll feel nostalgic for some silly box...

Hi, as I've mentioned in the games in production forum, I'm having a bit of trouble with the side view of Emily here.Ã,  I really like the front view, but on the side view I can't get the shape of her hair to look right, and her face doesn't have the same sorta round childish look.Ã,  Any help would be greatly appreciated.Ã,  Thanks!

hopefully this image won't be too small to see...

Ok...but for reference, should i put updates in the original post as a modification, or is adding another post like this ok? ???

Anyway, progress this week has been slow.Ã,  I've rarely been home to work on it, though I have had time to finish up another sprite...that means there's only one and a-half left to do (if I scrap a character).Ã,  The size of the characters makes it a bit challenging and time consuming to complete them.  Plus, the more characters I complete, the better I get at it, and the more I want to go back and revize the old characters (you should see the old background/emily sprite...yikes!).

The biggest problem is animating Emily's walk cycle.Ã,  I'm having more difficultly than I'd anticipated.Ã,  I'm def. going to hit you all up in the critic's lounge for some help now that my desktop is connected to the internet.Ã,  But seriously, you have no idea how much i wish i had drawn it all in 320x200 (or maybe you folks know exactly what I mean).  I think the graphics will be pleasing to the eye, but as a solo developer, I'm just not sure that it's worth doing it in this resolution...it's one of those newbie mistakes I made last october that I'm just going to have to live with for the time being.

As for the story, it's a bit on the satirical side...it pokes fun at corporate America and its excesses...you might not get that from the backstory I've provided...but that's the deal.

I'm tempted to put up more screenshots and story, but I really don't want to give too much away before release...

Are you from Berlin?Ã,  I was living in Prenzlauerberg this past year when i started this...i was unemployed and spent about 12 hours a day playing around with pixels...i credit berlin's endless grey sky and a god-awful coal oven with inspiring the game's...um...spooky and depressing decor.Ã,  Not to say that i don't love berlin...

I'm glad you like it!

It's problematic because, like someone already said, you have to sift through tons of postings before coming across a game that is approaching completion...or even in production for that matter.

I think it's fine and fun to share ideas, and maybe there should be another forum for that, but if everybody just shares ideas in the "games in production" forum...the games that are actually in the works are lost in the shuffle.
