Yo, The Butcher!
You'll find that most people from the good old days, including me, no longer frequent these forums :(
We're on facebook now, I think...

and if A is a minor and E his parent, E carries part of the blame too.

If A is a minor it contains all of A, C and E.

I think the up & down views are very well animated, but I'm affraid the movements are too subtle. While walking around the screen, chances are she will not appear to animate very much at all.

Way too short legs.
For a while there she had the proportions of a midget. It's better now but they're still really short.

Isn't that the old AGS member, Relight?

He may only be a minor deity, but he doesn't need girls because he's got both genitals!

Funny how you managed to turn that into a good thing.

Apollo, without doubt. I mean, that guy has it all.
The god of music and poetry, but also a skilled archer, and at times attributed with oracle powers. And the ability to heal. 'Nuf said.

I second In Bruges, it's a great movie but not very talked about.

Apart from that, I think basically all movies DiCaprio has done recently have been nothing short of awesome. Blood diamond, the Departed, Inception, Shutter Island. That guy really knows how to pick his movies.

Progz beat me to a paint-over, so his points aren't taken into account here...just wanted to show the cycle with legs more bent and the strides more "kicking".

The wrinkles and shades in her jeans look a bit messy, but I couldn't bother to do them properly, so focus on the motion.

PS:
Regarding the sprite itself, I'd definitely lift her hip a bit and thereby lengthen her legs.
PS2:
Don't ask me where the heck that background and those artifacts come from; I made it at work with a downloadable gif animator and it turned out like this...

I don't quite understand what you're getting at, but it's probably just me cause I'm a bit confused today.
I'm simply not following this steps/sizes issue.

Your walkcycles are a bit different because Sophia has a more distinct "kick" at the end of each stride. Your character seems to swing her legs much too pendular, as if she was walking in one of those gym machines. Try to make her stretch her legs more, it might improve the cycle.

Yeah, Alun, I admit now that you're making much more sense than I was...anyhow, it was fun speculating, even though it was quite a wild goose chase...:)

I think all the talk about homophobia and discrimination misses a critical point.   In a combat situation a soldier expects that the others in his group be deeply and equally committed to each other (i.e. be willing to risk life and limb for one compatriots).   Now consider how the equality of commitment would be affected if two members of the group were lovers?   Would they not be more committed to each other than to others in the group?

I don't know where to start. First of all, there is no way to prevent men with homosexual preferences to join the army, only to let them live out their homosexuality, openly. And gay people can suppress those feelings, just like anybody else.

Secondly, you suggest that soldiers are equally committed to each other thanks to the lack of sexual feelings. Are there rules saying you can't develop friendships in the army? Let's say that two soldiers have fought together for decades, saved each other's lives numerous times and developed a profound brotherly companionship - does this count less than if one of them slept with another person last night? Does carnal lust automatically outweigh platonic love?

Thirdly, would this way of thinking mean women can't serve in the military? Wouldn't this expose male soldiers to potential feelings of physical attraction?
This all reeks of reactionism.

Naturally, you should always try to pursue your dreams, especially now that you're young and with no financial committments. However, it's probably prudent to start trying this while you still have a steady income, even if this means double work and literally no spare time at all.
Making a name as an independent game developer is very hard, and even if you're successful it'll take years before you'll be able to survive on it.
So, just start doing games, network a lot, get experience and connections. Don't quit your daily job until you're beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel...
and good luck!

Andail, how does your theory work with sentences like "That's it!" where "is" is the main verb? There must be some other factor that makes the contraction improper.

I didn't quite say that no sentences with "is" as a main verb can be contracted - I said that one prerequisite to the no-contraction-rule (with neutral emphasis) is that "is" is the main verb.

And yeah, I agree that this is one issue we probably won't solve ourselves...
#1237
I'd still say it's a matter of emphasis.

First of all, in all cases of ellipsis, you wouldn't use contractions.
As in
"is this your bike?"
"yes it is." (ellipsis for "yes it's my bike")
or
"Do you take Sarah Dumbleton for your lawfully wedded bride?"
"I do." (compare "I'd." which would be incorrect, and very weird)

I think in order for "it's" to be considered ungrammatical, the is has to be the main verb. In sentences like "it's raining" is is auxiliary and wouldn't need to stand alone unless there should be special emphasis on it, as in
"only bring your umbrella if it's raining"
"well it is raining!"
It is clear that when there is another main verb, you could contract "it is" without problems, as in "or whatever it's called in Swedish".

So...when it comes to non-ellipsis cases where you shouldn't contract....
I think what we have here is two different meanings of "is". When "is" has the purpose of identifying or defining something, rather than just classifying or pointing something out, or taking an auxiliary function, it somehow takes a deeper, more universal meaning and is thus not contracted.
Compare
"The bike's in the garage" and "a bike is a two-wheeled vehicle". The former statement is answering the question "where is it?" whereas the latter is answering the question "what is it?" a question of definition. I'm not saying this sentence would be ungrammatical if contracted, but my guess is that most people would say it with "is" standing alone.

"If that's what I think it is..." In this sentence, the 2nd is has a defining function. It could never be contracted.

Well I dunno, just brainstorming now really.

On a serious note, don't you think wasting hours and hours posting pointless threads and antagonizing people on various forums is just adding insult to injury? Is your time not more precious than this, KQIX-team?

Or what is your idea with all this, that the game will suddenly just disappear, you will be given back the (life)time you've spent playing it, and everyone will apologize to you and say "you were right all the time, KQIX-Team!!"

And yeah, pretty much all of the industrialized world has stopped paying internet per minute, but that's beside the point, really.
Either way, it's probably time for you to move on and do something more fruitful with your time. For your own sake.

We all have to pay for free games. We pay (life)time and we pay money. Who has to pay all that internet hours it took me to download that 800 MB monster? It's me.

oh you paid life time for that game, man that sux!

Tulles World 3 is not a dead project, and has been available for downloading off and on, although I personally don't have the files myself anymore.
But it's very much a completed, playable full-length game (albeit of mediocre quality)
