True. You can't really help being a paedophile. Nobody would be one, if there was a choice.
Then again, Calin is splitting hairs a bit, because you really don't refer to someone as paedophile if that person hasn't already crossed that border. It's not like we can scan people for paedophilic tendencies.

I think realising that you have a sick, destructive and even illegal perversion must be the worst nightmare a human can experience. You'll spend a lifetime constantly fighting the same kind of urge that other people find so pleasurable.

I miss the days when mittens meetings were held at people's houses and free of charge...

Where is this even from?
No way is she anywhere near 18, and even if it turned out she was, it would still be wrong.

You moralist!  :P

yeah that was weird. The word "lickable" just doesn't fit there.

Yeah I love Berlin even though I've only been there once. It's a great cultural city.

I won't lie.  I found it funny.  She got her come-uppance.  Sure, it was extreme and cruel but that's exactly WHY it was funny.  There's no point getting all moralistic about it (as folks tend to do on these boards).  It's entertaiment.

Hm...why is there no point? Strange thing to say.

I don't think I'm usually being moralistic, I just found this particular clip over the line and I expressed why.

"It's entertainment"...another strange statement. Is anything ok as long as it is intended as entertainment?

I also don't think this board is more moralistic than the average group of ordinary people, like a bunch of colleagues or friends and family or whatever. Sure, compared to 4chan or I-mockery or whatnot I guess we care more about good taste here, which is hardly a negative thing.

When Sarah Palin complained on Family Guy for showing a kid with Down's saying Palin was her mother, I thought she was a bit humour-less and unnecessarily sensitive. However I can still understand why she got upset and I wouldn't say that Family Guy should get away for it just because it's entertainment and there's no point in being moralistic, I would say that in this case they should get away with it because it simply wasn't provocative enough to my mind, but this is all subjective, which is why it's always important to discuss it.
My 2 cents!

I find cheating to be despicable and think (aside from physical violence) that all forms of humiliation are fair-game.

I find the argument that cheating, out of all crimes and sins, deserve this kind of retaliation a bit contrived. I agree that cheating is despicable, make no mistake, but it's not exactly illegal. In most cases, it's the result of a problematic history between two people, in a private sphere that nobody else knows anything about. I think this is the key fact here; we don't know their history, the circumstances and characteristics of their relationship, or anything at all.

Darth, you say that you've been cheated on yourself, and admit that you might be biased. This is probably very true; you project your own feelings onto their situation, and you feel like justiced has been carried out.

I would also like to reitterate that regardless of the validity of this "punishment", hearing adult men mock and jeer someone who's crying just gives me the creeps.

I have to say I'm a bit skeptical about that radio stunt.

I always feel a bit uneasy when random people, especially in a public context, pass judgment on certain individuals whom they've never met, or know anything about. Why should their private conflict be a matter for public speculation? I just feel extremely awkward when I listen to it.

To me it's beyond comprehension how the hosts can mock her and laugh about the situation. Awkward awkward awkward.

Well, let's play with the thought that this isn't something purely medical - which we at AGS aren't qualified to diagnose either way - and suppose that it might have to do with a combination of the following:
1. Too much stress - doesn't matter if it's been the same over years, at some point your brain might just have had enough
2. Too little sleep - same as above
3. Too much work in front of a computer monitor
4. Too little physical activity

I would recommend - in all my laymanship - a week or two with the following routines:
1. Physical exercise. You must walk outside at least 30 mins a day, preferably an hour for a healthy young adult.
2. Max 1 hour of computer work at a time, then 5-10 mins break. After 4 hours of computer work you take at least 30 mins off.
3. Go to bed before eleven. No TV or computer time just before bed.

This seems to be mostly about your short term memory?

I think short term memory loss can be due to a number of rather mundane reasons; stress, depression, bad sleep, alcohol/drugs etc etc.

It's also rather easy to train if you really want to improve.

The drummer hit by the spotlight is strangely washed out, for being hit by a spotlight. He needs more contrats and more saturated colours.

Apparently Cosmos Quest has gone from having some voices and a not-so-rich documentation, to no voices at all and no documentation at all.
Is it a game or a black hole, I wonder.

I must say it was easier to see GarageGothic's images than Jakerpot's.

It's mandatory for an AGS member to speak Swedish and Japanese fluently.

You're scheduled for the aptitude test in May.

Hmmm, so the P31NS Award or P3N1S Award (I don't know which is correct) is an official award for the worst game!?! I didn't know that. For me this is a bad sense of humour...
What's worse, I've heard it was the RATING PANEL that invented the P3N1S-award!!! Omg unfairness overdose!!

PS:
I find it insultive and unfair that I didn't get the life time achievement award, when every other Tom, Dick and Harry on this forum has got one. I'm going to remove myself from the member database in protest!

QuoteWith expeditions of the humans and neja'ns to the north, the two races
went together to create another race, a race that could resist very
cold temperatures; the Björns. The creation of the björns made the
human and nejan's races closer.

This is hilarious for a Swedish reader. As Tuomas said, björn in Swedish means bear, but the phonology of the word combined with the english -s plural ending make it sound absolutely hilarious. I actually laughed out loud, literally.

Congrats to the winners, and good job Bicilotti for running it.

I never make it to these ceremonies, it seems...

General Discussion / Re: AGS group projects

We have tried to start up big group projects in the past, with very few finished results. I believe Two of a Kind was initially an entry in a round of the AGS Team Challenge.

The Team Challenge competitions usually start off pretty promising, with lots of good intentions and optimistic plans, but then the teams drop off one after another, falling victims of all the inherent illnesses that come with group projects.

Anyone remembers this story some months ago? A man who had been believed to be in coma for 23 years somehow woke up and could communicate with the help of caregivers, and revealed what a nightmare he'd gone through, with noone knowing about his awake state.

Even back then, some people were skeptic.

Now it has recently been debunked properly, with involved people admitting the fallacy of the assisted communication project, and describing the idiomotoric phenomenon.

The scary thing isn't just that so many people fell for the hoax, but how detailed Houben's alleged accounts were. Scary.

Wikipedia already has a good coverage of the story.
