I don't know, I kinda prefer Mona Lisa the frequency domain-ed way.

Whatever service you're consulting to translate your posts, try finding a better one.

Here's some stuff that you might want to read.

You may be great with storylines, but remember to have your dialogues spell-checked before publishing your game...

Just the pronunciation. I think the function should be pretty obvious :)

And it's only related to regional accent, I would say. "ee-ther" is prevalent among Americans, while "eye-ther" appears among Brits, but is far from universal anywhere.

I've never had much luck with the very narrow and specialised kind of forums like a philosophy discussion board would be. The best philosophy discussions I've had, have been on general chat forums which happen to house very skilled and learned posters.

Whenever I've stumbled across a debate forum of that sort, there have typically been a couple of demigod veterans who dictate all debates and react very angrily on newcomers who haven't read the entire archive of saved topics before daring to post a query.

So I'd say, try AGS :)

Oh, I took him for Esseb for a brief second.
Damn Norwegians, they all look alike.

So Snarky is the Jesus-guy?

Don't get mad if I'm wrong; Miez photos didn't have proper captions.

No worries, I just read on wikipedia that Americans tend to consider using "which" for restrictive clauses incorrect, so you're partly right.

You all make it sounds like Mittens was in the Amazon jungle or something.

What? No 1000 blank cards?? I sure hope you had a proper Mittolympics, or mittens has truly degenerated over the years...

Oh, you totally have to take more advantage of the dual lighting. Make the candle light more distinctly yellow, and the light from the window more blue-ish. It will create a much more dramatic scene.
In return, some objects in the room are now too saturated and need to be more shaded. Remember that colours only exist if hit by light.
Also, the area around the window must be darker, especially under. In a room with one window, the wall with the window is the least illuminated.

Yeah, Terran, you're right about the restrictiveness.

If the information after the "which" is optional, it becomes a non-restricted subclause and thus gets a comma before it.

"She will bring pies, which I like." In this sentence, the fact that I like them doesn't change the pies in any way, it's just extra information.
However:
"She will bring pies which I like", means that she will only bring pies that I like.
In the latter case, most people would prefer "that" instead of "which", although it's not grammatically incorrect.

Yay, you're back!

It now struck me that I have missed as many mittens as I have attended! Sadness!

I demand plenty of pictures, especially of people rarely seen before, like Snarky.

Let this be a reminder of the broken promise I had made to myself: that I'd never go to a nightclub ;D.

Why don't you promise yourself never to grope women instead? Better to learn to enjoy a nightclub without getting stupidly drunk, than to avoid it altogether.

A simple rule of thumb is to keep away from any hard liquor and stick to beer/wine.

You don't really need to wish that it was true, it can be just any hypothetical situation.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you."
#1615
Oh, interesting input there...

I would still recommend that when you write a simple list (without any possible ambiguities) just avoid the final comma. I think it disrupts the prosody, as it - in my eyes - presents the final item with some kind of special emphasis.
#1616
Comma and "and" only go together when followed by a clause which has a different grammatical function.

So it's like this:

I need milk, flour, eggs and sugar.
I need milk, flour, eggs and sugar, and then I need to visit the pharmacy.

Rats, found out I could've gone too, but too late now.

I finally got properly employed by my school, so I'm spitting this financial crisis in its face and can look forward to a near future of decent economic stability. Furthermore, my summer job has been cancelled, so I now have some 7 weeks of vacation with nothing to do but lean back and chill out. A perfect setup for a mittens trip, in other words. But alas, too late now.

KhrisMuc: Alright, I agree that I should have expanded my arguments to more than c-vitamins right from the start. Most of the benifits from not eathing processed junk-food have to do with avoiding unhealthy additives.

I know that there exist some kind of cynisism towards the health-movement, with people who claim to have debunked the super-size-me-message. But really, do what you will with your life and what you eat, it's your body.

I'm certainly no health-guru myself; I drink way too much alcohol and I eat junkfood every week. But my mother teaches these subjects at college, and keeps nagging on me how important it is that I change my diet.

Increator, my deepest condolences.

Renal; Here's a little fun fact, from the animal kingdom.

Male tortoises often fight over females. In the presence of an attractive female, the two rivals immediately start trying to flip each other over. That's how tortoises fight; on their backs they're pretty much destined to die.
Once a tortoise has flipped his opponent and thus won the duel, he proceeds to mate with the female.
The loser must lie on his back, slowly suffocating, and watch his adversary having sex with the target of his affection.

Lesson: It sucks to be the losing tortoise.

Quote from: Andail on Thu 11/06/2009 08:17:00all you can do is ingest loads and loads of c-vitamins

No. All those vitamin pills available in pharmacies are merely one big scam, a normal diet provides more than enough of c-vitamins and the others, and taking more doesn't have any positive effect whatsoever.

First of all, I don't know why you assumed I was talking about vitamin pills. Secondly, there exist plenty of good supplements on the market, as long as you avoid the one-dollar boxes that taste like strawberry, found in supermarkets.
Thirdly, define a "normal" diet. If you think that a typical modern, processed meal, along with all the additives and E-numbers, really constitutes a decent supply of vitamins, think again. Or maybe you live on a farm, with fresh foods that haven't been processed or shipped around the world or deep-frozen?
Fourthly, or wherever I am, some people are in more need of vitamins than other. Some people have a poor absorption of nutrients due to dysfunctional intestinal walls, or for a number of other reasons, and need excessive amounts of vitamins.

Or to sum it up, your "no" has been 0wned
