I don't know if you're trying to compensate for something terrible you've done in the past, god knows what that might be, or if this is just a silly joke to get attention (the link to Santiagarro is a bit uncanny).

Seriously, if you'd go to hell for something so pathetically trivial as this, where the heck would you put those who commit real crimes when they die? Ultra-hell?

As per usual, I'll offer some vague tips, and then Progz is going to show up with a complete new sprite, shaded and all.

Basically, don't go crazy with the shading. Imagine some sort of soft atmospheric lighting that will highlight hair and shoulders and possibly some other peaks like her breasts and shoes. Don't give every single area a highlight and a shading.
For every shadow, pick a colour slightly darker and with a hue towards purple/blue and apply the shadow so that it enhances the shape of the object.

If you want a more classic, non-cartoonesque sprite you can add sporadic pixels in other colours just to give some sort of realistic texture - if you take a look around you, you'll see that clothes rarely have only one uniform colour; they typically pick up all sorts of hues, highlights and shades from their surroundings.

As much as I usually represent the perspective police, I don't think this particular case calls for it.

Khrismuc has good intentions, but this picture has a certain stylistic naïvism that won't benefit from technical restrictions.

Apart from the bottom being a bit unfinished, there is little you need to adjust in my opinion.

The fact that somebody tries to manipulate Book of Spells and Thendor is utterly and completely mysterious.
I can understand if new people want to boost the downloads of their latest creations, but those two...totally beyond me.

Frankly, I'm only embarrassed by Thendor getting attention nowadays.

It's good, but I don't get these piratey vibes, actually I get more YMCA-vibes, with her police cap and uniform and/or apron.
A pirate hat is usually a lot bigger, and I think you could remove or substitute some of the white stripes/dots on her outfit to make it less of a uniform.

When people judge old Sierra games on this basis, I don't think they take into account the time aspect.
When it comes to gaming, people had much more patience and perseverance back in the eighties as they were usually stuck with very few games, and computer and video games over all was something new.

I mean, take an average nintendo title from the mid-eighties. It was full of wandering back and forth, gathering millions of points by monotonously slaying generic monsters, find your way through vast and mostly empty mazes, repeat things ad infinitum. Constructing games back then was largely about extending the length of the game, to any cost.

Early Sierra titles were about trial and error. Rince and repeat. Do and do again, do better. And people were ok with this, because it was just the way you played games. It's first in retrospect that players have considered this a conscious - and annoying - way of wasting the players' time.

We have high demands nowadays, we want puzzles to make sense and we want plots to make sense and we don't want to waste our time on things that don't make sense.
How could a day pass just because you sent a letter in Under a Killing Moon? Is the post office somehow connected to the rotation of the Earth? Doesn't make sense!
