Loominous, really good job, man.
Almost a bit overworked for a game background, but it's damn beautiful.

Burger, great job as well :)

And yes, some games have speech in them.

When Simpsons was at its peak, it was simply the best. The satire, the characters, the psychology, the wonderful "new" sense of humour, it was one of its kind.
Family Guy is a very vague copy in comparison, one that I never learnt to appreciate. Sure, they have one or two successful jokes in every episode, but all in all it's a show that brings nothing new to the table. Whenever Family Guy is about to go through one of those "let's repeat this joke ad infinitum, because that's what the Simpsons did, and we only need to push it further to become even funnier!" I quickly change the channel.

Futurama worked for me personally; I thought the atmosphere was great, the settings and plots so full of imagination and respect to details, the jokes often original and fun. I can understand if it didn't appeal to the broader audience; at a first glance there was a lot of geek humour involved, and a few too many characters that didn't add much.

When you've had plenty of coffee (and/or alcohol) and brainstormed for an entire day, go for a walk in the nature. It will sort your thoughts and make your ideas more organised.

In my heart I root for Obama, but I'm not sure that would help much. There is such a financial mess in USA now that it would be good if the Republicans could remain in the white house just to clean up their own mess.

In Sweden it's quite traditional that the right-wings take power once per two decades; they lift a lot of taxes and drain the finances to become popular for a few years. When there is no more money, the "left"-wings take back power and have to spend several years to restore the economy.

I dunno...I for one wouldn't want to take over the presidency of the States at this point.

Ok, strange. How about people just published the versions they've sent to me here, and I'll put them together in the first post.

Meanwhile, enjoy the version that works.

Oh got it. It was trapped in my spam folder. Allright, here are the four stories:

http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/Promotion.doc
http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/Promotion2.doc
http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/promotion3.doc
http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/promottion12.doc

Unfortunately, they're not in the right order here, I will take care of that when I get home from work.
A bit stressed right now!

Eric, do your best! We can pull you around in a trolley if you end up too limbless

Hehe, Emerald, nah that was unintentionally, just got the terms confused!

So, hm, GM are you gonna present some sort of quest or something?

Only buy a car if you really need it. Owning a car costs much more than just the petrol, and if you live and spend most of your time in a city it's probably better to use public transport.

The only reason I own a car is that my job is situated so awkwardly far away from my home, so using trams and busses would take almost an hour, compared to the ten minutes it takes to drive there by car. Then again, I never use the car to drive around downtown, since there are always trafficjams and the parking costs are skyhigh, and I usually don't save any time anyway.

I'm generally against time-wasting nonsense threads that people write in in lack of better things to do.
However, the forum strictness has fluctuated a lot during its history, and it's certainly not suffering from a long-term deterioration.

Back in 2001, the community was much more "lawless" than it is now, and there were no global moderators that dealt with or discussed trouble-makers, trends or rules. Also, the forums were fewer and less specialised, so there was more crap crammed into less space.

Gen-gen, as Helm coined it, has always been the trash-can board of AGS, but when it was first implemented it wasn't really monitored at all; every other thread was utter nonsense and if arguments broke out nobody really cared if they ran out of hand.
Both CL and GiP were installed to relieve gen-gen from some pressure but in return they demand constant and close moderation.

I think the forum are quite nicely balanced right now, although people still need to think twice before hitting that "post"-button.

Hm, yeah, I looked at it on a different monitor now, and realised my own monitor is set very bright, so cranking up the brightness a bit might be a good idea.
Start out in the light sources; increase the intensity there and work your way around the surfaces hit by the light, make them reflect the light and add nice hues depending on what kind of light they're hit by.

Oooh, now we're talking!
Much better uniform colour scheme, much more consistent, realistic shading, much more attention to mood and atmosphere.
You can still work on the chandelier though, and instead of the black border to the left I think you should paint the doorframe properly, albeit with very dark and subtle colours. When using black foreground frames like that, it's usually best to apply them fairly symmetrically around the image, and not only to one side.

All in all, you're on your way to creating a beautiful background.

Don't be melodramatic, Skitzo. The first step in improving your skills is to learn how to accept c&c and don't take it personally.

If you want to use a photograph, at least don't paint over it with a new layer; open the picture and paint beside it, on an empty canvas.

I think you're doing nicely, but try to be patient. You can't master a brand new technique just like that.

Oh, I'll pay before this weekend then.

I don't know how I will get there but I always end up where I'm supposed to be when I travel somewhere, and I seldom plan stuff very much, but it would be cool if we could meet up before, Chrille. Like the good old days...

Whether I fly to Brussels or Paris doesn't really matter, either way I'll probably hang out there for a day or two since I know people in both cities, so I guess I could meet up with the Americans at CDG whenever they arrive.

that just for once wouldn't have to do with being spanked with a salmon

I wish this thread could be just a bit sillier so I could lock it
