Thats because it has over 50 locations in top quality high resolution graphics!

Unless there's plenty of video and/or audio in the game, those backgrounds have to be of pretty darn high resolution to make 2 gigs...

As you're only 13 years old it's hard to come down on your "idea" with accusations of unoriginality or banality.

Basically it's hard to give any sort of c&c because there is no real substance. Your idea could be great and it could be lousy, impossible to say.

If you really want feedback, you need to compose a much more detailed design document. What will the plot be like? The characters? What kind of puzzles?
I'm tempted to lock this thread and let you wait until you reach the required 16 years, but I guess we could let you elaborate your idea a bit, if there's anything to elaborate.

Actually, I must insist that Lo-res finish the story and send it now.
A lot of people are waiting and this has already taken long enough.

His death is a great failure for the world of the cartoon

"Failure?" Was their ambition to keep him alive forever? :)
Anyhow...yeah a big loss. My favourite artist was Carl Barks, of course. Without him, Donald Duck would have been absolutely worthless.

edit:
Eh, of course, Barks wasn't an animator, just thought I should mention him up there...

General Discussion / Re: I started a diet!

I'm quite underweight; 179cm and slightly below 60kg.
I eat very much (I have a huge protein and carb intake), even take food suplements on a daily basis and I work out a lot too, resistance training with weights and stuff, almost every day. I don't gain a gram. But I'm rather fit, if I may say so myself, and beat most of my friends in armwrestling :)

From the first Mittens. Dunno why CJ has breasts, a skirt, and crow's feet, but I'm sure it made sense at the time.

Yeah, I clearly remember that skirt. I clearly remember how it ended several inches above his waistline.

It's very cute, but please clean it up! It would look awesome if you applied a more computer-like line-art and colouring, instead of the crayon-esque technique you have going now.
Also, you need to crank down that saturation a notch or two, and try to use some sort of uniform lighting/shading. Right now everything is very brightly lit and way too colourful.

Ok, I'm done with my part now...I chose to write a rather absurd ending, as there were too many loose ends to tie with so few words...I still had to exceed my word limit a bit, or it would be completely nonsensical.

I still enjoyed the story, though.

Awaiting the last story now, and then I'll publish them.

Goldmund, Helm, most mitteneers...heck, plenty of people...

Ok, got Venus' part and Twinmoon's, which I'm gonna finish soon enough.
When I get the fourth part, I'll upload them all together.

General Discussion / Re: Gameboomers?

Yeah, it's one thing to mention the word, a totally different thing to post links to warez sites and stuff...

Besides, I think preemptive moderation is a bit fascist. Sure, discussions with religious themes tend to derail after a while, but discussions about religion as a meta subject, as an aspect of a game or plot or whatever, can be very rewarding and often necessary to make interesting interpretations of said game/plot/book/movie.
At least wait until the discussion has gone out of hands before locking it. If it's on topic and thought through, what's the harm?
#2032
Oh sorry for stressing you.
Thought you wrote that the day before yesterday, for some strange reason.

Twinmoon, I still haven't received your document. Have you sent it? Did you write the right address?
It's petterlj at yahoo dot se

Ok, Loomy, you have my authorisation to kick this off over at the activity forum.

Yeah, Space Boy, those close-ups of the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park were hardly CGI...

I concur with most speakers here...CGI most often just screws up the effects and makes them look plastic and fake.

The following issues annoy me the most...they should be simple but apparently they're unavoidable:
1. Too many creatures. Matrix 3, I am legend, even Lord of the Rings...they just cram in millions and millions of 3D creatures and rely on sheer quantity. Remember when they just poured in flying robots in Matrix 3? What an eyesore...
2. They move too freaking fast. The monsters bounce around like rubber balls, shake and leap all across the screen. It's just stressful to watch.
3. Gravity. In Starwars II...young Anakin is standing on some sort of monster...on its side? Completely imbalanced. Same with Legolas in Lord of the rings, he rides all sorts of trolls and monsters, but he appears to be glued to their backs. If you stand on top of a large body that moves very quickly, you don't move with them, you fall off. Basic physics.

Nothing breaks immersion so much as when stuff don't make sense.

Funny, Loomy, I was just composing a post starting with "I see two options here, really..." which pretty much contained what you just said, but then I had to go AFK for an hour, and now, voila....
So yeah, I concur exactly.

I say we just grab a background from the cricits lounge (with the artist's consent ofc) and start a major, focused revamp.
#2037
Actually, send it to me and I'll make a little webpage of it, roughly like Stupot suggested.

I'm so majorly unimpressed by "future-tellers" like this one.

He and his followers claim that if events don't turn out like his predictions, it's because we're in a new, parallel timeline and the events he spoke about instead will take place in another time-line (just to make sure he can't be proven wrong).
So if events that fail to take place cannot prove that he's wrong, why is it interesting to talk about the events that actually take place?
Not that they actually do take place, but still.

I had a couple of activities called "from concept sketch to functional background" or something similar, which was basically about me giving a sketch that forumites could continue on and finish.

Oh yeah here it is:
http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=13151.0
Unfortunately most of the entries, including the sketch, are now buried in the sand of time. Which is a shame, because a lot of them, like Ben's, turned out great.

Yeah, I'd like to see some sort of ID
