I'm inclined to concur with Khris here. This isn't just "draw any sort of picture"-jam, it's meant to be about sprites.
You should be able to import your entries into the engine and use them as sprites, that's the best definition.

Making fiction "real" for the audience while still providing an exciting story is not just a question of balance; it's a veritable paradox. If you read a novel (or a short story or whatever) you'll only appreciate it for being "real" as long as it deals with things that you're familiar with. A murder story that starts off with the detective taking a shower, getting dressed and heading for work falls within the boundaries of being "real" for the reader, and will provide easy immersion for him. As soon as the detective fires his first shot at the murderer, 99.9% of the audience will experience how this immersion drops slightly (regardless of how well written the story is, since readers can only relate fully to a situation they've experienced themselves), and the story will demote from "real" to simply "realistic".

But what you wrote in your initial post has little to do with a sense of realism, it has more to do with probability, and as such it's not very relevant. You establish realism by explaining things, by setting up moods. You create probable stories by compiling statistics, which is not interesting.

More important than being probable, is to be coherent, like Nikolas said. There can be a method to the madness, and no matter how unlikely a character may act, it's vital to make him act coherently.

Lastly, as someone has already stated...if you want to talk about realism, make sure you deliver real facts...if a person dies immediately from a gun shot, it's not from an infection, it's from shock.

You want to buy a 250$ phone for a girl you don't know very well?
I hope it's not an attempt to pick her up...you'll either come across as weirdly generous or unnervingly weird. And either way, you'll lose a lot of money.

Emo to my mind is basically when non-metal guys put on eye-liner.

But the Lord also masters the finance markets of the world. He is king over all corners of the world. He is a mighty rich father. To trust him - and not in money - is thousand times better.
To become a child of the Lord must not mean to be poor. It means to trust in the Good Shepheard. The Good Shepheard does not leave his sheeps hungry - he gives by filled hands - richly, richly.
Get eternal life.
Get the crown of life - and be happy. There is no other security, also not in financial questions. Once the town Jericho was connected, he has said: "All gold is mine". He is rich. He does own all - and gives in grace and love.

That is his motive - he does love us.
Meet a decision.

Be blessed richly - to become truely happy!

Actually, I didn't read this very closely the first time. It's bloody brilliant! I wish I'd thought of it first!

This is brilliant. I always thought a crazy preacher dude would be an entertaining addition to our little cast of forum personalities...

We've had our fair share.
Santiagarro, to mention one, pretty infamous.

Carsten, you don't have to post every single word that those voices keep telling you.

I think a person who worries about earning too much money is one who has not yet started living an adult life.
With rent and bills and all additional costs you have to earn at least a doctor's income to consider yourself excessively paid.
Here's roughly what my budget is like, per month (in euros):
Salary: 2100
--
Taxes: 550
Student loan mortgage:50
Rent: 320 (sharing a shabby appartment in the outskirts of town)
Bills (phone, internet, gas etc): 50
Petrol: 60
Groceries: 300
Restaurants, pubs, clubs: 150
Charities: 20
Clothes: 50
--
2100-1500=600

So, if I don't buy anything extravagant, I can save 600 euros (roughly 900 dollars) per month.

When you've gone the lengths to draw such a beautifully crisp clean vector-esque background, you don't wanna ruin it by re-sizing it and get all that jagginess.
Even if you'd want to go for a lo-res retro style, changing the size isn't the way to go; instead you'd need to manually draw non-antiailased lines and pixels and stuff.

Really nice. Having a younger sister myself, I was very touched by your project :)

So is this game, "Anacapri- The Dream", any good?

Because I've never heard of it. "Anacapri- The Dream" that is.

Or why not have six groups? Halfway into the first two stories, they branch again. Four different endings, like a good adventure game.
Like this:

                    Theme (e.g. dadaist space opera)
                  /            \
                 /               \
           group 1       group 2
           John                  Abe
           Sam                  Dick
           Henry                Oscar
        /            \            /            \
      /               \          /               \
grp 3          grp 4      grp 5        grp6
Pat          Winston   Eric             Gabriel
Sonny      Alex         Graham       Thomas
Pat Jr.      Ron          Michael       Nigel

All names are fictive.
John and Abe both starts from scratch, on the same topic (or, instead of only a topic, there is a 200 words introduction). Henry sends their version of the story on to Pat and Winston, and Oscar sends their document to Eric and Gabriel.
Pat Jr, Ron, Michael and Nigel conclude their documents and publish them.
Of course, this requires some 18-20 people just to create stories comprising 1.2k words each, so we need plenty of committment.

We could even vote for the best version afterwards.

Hehe, cheers everyone...interesting read. I wonder how many mental illnesses we have endowed our poor protagonist with.

Some nice quotes:

"Being crazy is a funny thing.  Once you know you're crazy, it's easy to keep being crazy."

"...it was soothing, like a bath in warm blood."

"The phone rang high and trill causing my heart to jump into my throat.
The one in my body, not in the jar."

So, hm...should we start pointing out apparent contradictions now? :P
Perhaps some people feel obliged to explain what they meant with their passages?

Look Rock_chick, this forum isn't your personal advertisement space. You have started a number of threads now, only about how to attract attention to yourself and your projects.
Every time a newcomer asks about how to recruit for their projects, they get the same response, which is the following:
1. Make a game on your own! This is simply the best way to start. It doesn't matter how small the game is, or how bad it is drawn/scripted/coded, just show the world that you're dedicated and able to finish a project you've started.
2. Post in the designated thread in the chat forum. It didn't work for you? Well, sorry but it's the only space we set aside for personal ads. It's the same for everyone, nobody's given more - or less - attention.
3. Check what people are ready to offer. People have icons in their profiles, telling what they are willing to contribute with. Also check the thread where people offer their services.

But the best way is simply to release your test game, and in the process of doing so, you let people know that you're interested in commencing a larger project, on which you need assistance. Make contacts, send out signals. If people show interest, have a complete design document ready. Don't say "I want to make the coolest game, who's with me!?" instead you tell them exactly what you're going to do, and how to do it, and exactly what you need help with.

No no, don't reduce the contrasts. You might even add stronger shades than that to his face, to give him more distinguished facial features. What you could do is lower the saturation a bit, though, to take the edge of that blue.

I'm well aware of the problem. As I wrote in my previous post, my life partner since 2 years is from Iran, so I've got pretty good insight.
As much as there is a problem, there are other aspects of the culture you wish to portray that I would enjoy to see, just for once, featured in a book, film or game, because it be awesomely original, whereas high-lighting once again that muslims are woman-murderers and backward and extremists and fundamentalists and all that, is not original, not any way you slice it, not by any stretch of the imagination.

Nobody's forgetting about these issues! We know who Theo Van Gogh is, we know these problems exist!
You watched a youtube clip and now you feel you have to tell the world, well it's all fine and dandy, just don't expect that people will go "holy shit is it true!?".

You asked if the game will be original and fun to play, and my answer is that it won't be original and I doubt the gameplay will work for you (what's it gonna be like, a young girl chased by bearded evil-doers throwing stones after her?). But good luck anyway.

Congrats on your daughter!

As for coming generations, well, the generation slightly below us already were born into the Internet and are pretty much native computer speakers, so to speak, the problem is only to get these younger people to become interested in something so stoneage such as AGS.
