I never tried the sequels to Dune, but I'm a huge fan of the first Dune. Possibly the best adventure/strategy hybrid ever.

Tuomas, that's pretty old.
He should change the door, because the only scenario where he shouldn't, would be if he picked the right one from the start, which is only 1/3 probability. Hence, changing doors would be right 2 times of 3.

Still don't see what this riddle would prove, though?

Hm, you need to meet halfway there. Spaceboy has got the shadows correct, but with too little dispersion. Cobra's edit hasn't really got the shadows right (for instance, the wall around the door wouldn't be bright just because it's close to the lightsource, since it's not hit by the light), but at least it has a modicum of dispersion and gradients. Cobra also applied some colours, which I certainly find fitting. I don't know what kind of room could offer entirely white surfaces on all walls like that, but I wouldn't wanna live there....

Don't rush it mate, take your time.
I don't see a sharp detail anywhere, I just see huge diffuse strokes. Like Erwin said, use smaller brushes and work out the details carefully. Use a reference photo to see what such a landscape can look like.

That looks like one of those shots CIA took to prove that Iraq was developing nuclear weapon facilities.

Shows how much I'm into computer hardware.

One can only assume that it takes an equal amount of training to become hit and wounded by a psi-ball as it takes to produce one and cast it.

Eric, I love that clip. I think everyone who's practiced any sort of martial art or boxing or wrestling or whatever to a degree where you actually fight to subdue your opponent rather than gaining points from doing fancy moves, knows that most disciplines out there are merely mysticist eye-candy and gymnastics.

As for the "psi-balls"...I'm not gonna comment on this one. There are for sure people who'll testify that it works for them and they have these special powers, so what's the use trying to argue about it. Likewise, they'll never be able to prove anything.

Maybe Terranrich can offer some input, he used to be able to both hypnotize people and read their thoughts...

Yeah, just start painting. Most people have a rough idea of what to do, and if you fail to do something perfectly isometric, it's not like the forum will break or anything.

If you didn't do this from scratch, I suggest you show us the reference so we know on what level you are personally.

Right..don't ask me why I included that globalstring there, it just seemed good at the time :)

Create a label and the script name to (for instance) "lblshowname"

Then you just set it like

lblshowname.Text = NAME.Text;
#2473
Create the textbox and name it and set an Activate, for instance NAME.Activate.

In the global editor, write

function NAME_Activate(GUIControl *control){
  Game.GlobalStrings[1] =NAME.Text;
}

After this you call the string with for instance

cEgo.Say ("My name is %s.",  Game.GlobalStrings[1]);

Of course, what you call the GUI and the global string is up to you.

I don't think he needs more help, as he managed to restart his computer all by himself.

But anyhow, if people want to keep trashtalking MI4, just start a new thread.

Well, the gradient is very time consuming to do pixel by pixel. I just used a PS gradient which I copied and opened in a new document, indexed and reduced colours with a pattern dithering.

Apart from that, the colour perspective is just about filling distant objects with colours close to that of the atmosphere, to create a blending effect. No filters or layers needed.
#2476
Yeah, just changing the variable will not change anything in the room until you call the function again.
#2477
Typically I advice against gradients, but in some rare cases it can be beneficial.

Apart from that I added some depth using colour perspective, by making distant objects almost blend with the atmosphere.

Oh, I'm tempted to come!
I'll see if I can get the time and the money. I might just make a surprise appearance.

and I watched the entire show, with real actors and stuff.

Real actors, as opposed to cardboard models? You must have paid a fortune.

Game Maker is great, Increator.  I'm using it every so often to make a blaster master clone called...Master Blaster!  And then there's Ninja Mon, but that's in the background for now.

I remember how addicted me and a couple of friends was to Master Blaster, which we played on Amiga with four joysticks.
That is, if Master Blaster is the game I'm thinking of, with characters on a screen bombing tiles to get power-ups and similar, and the goal was to blast your opponents.
