General Discussion / Re: Sexuality issues
Mon 30/04/2007 15:50:54
Radiowaves, please don't ever write such crap here again. Your entire post is such a magnificent display of ignorance and arrogance that it doesn't deserve an actual reply. But I feel I have to. Not because I think you will read the response; people like you rarely browse through the reactions of your troll dung.

* First of all, homosexuality isn't freakish just because it doesn't result in child birth. That would make being single and sexually abstaining freakish too, which it isn't. It would make couples who regularly have sex while on the pill freaks too, which they aren't.

* Secondly, not all homosexuals penetrate. Sex isn't defined by the practice of inserting your penis in another person's orifice, sex can be lots of stuff.

* Thirdly...oh and what about circumcision? Freakish and painful? I'm circumcised, I had sex just two hours ago and it went smashingly. No lube needed, no pain felt, nothing but pleasure, mate. She came, if you want to know.

* Fourthly, let's see...Kids become gay because their parents are? How extraordinarily dumb of you. "Child is a learning organism" oh damn are you sure? Good gravy, it sounds just like you have studied pedagogy for years and years! Which I have, by the way. I'm not even gonna treat this point further because it's just too dumb.

*Fifthly...Irreversible...is a movie. The thing I remember most clearly is the scene where a man rapes a woman. It's a 15 minutes, extremely disturbing scene, and there is nothing gay about it.

* Sixthly...just get over yourself, dude. Get out of your shell, learn to know some human beings.

I just put together a basic model to work with. What you do is that you have three (or more) layers open. Use the top layer to draw helplines that you use to create a proper perspective. Those helplines converge in the viewpoint of the image.
Draw the basic shape of the room on the bottom layer and then use additional layers to draw the furniture.
Toggle the visibility of the top layer to make sure you follow the perspective. Delete this layer when you're done with the image.

Now, from this on you must make sure to fix the outlines. Either you keep them black, or you fill them with a darker shade of the colour they're outlining. Either way, just make sure you get rid of all the double pixels, so that they look clean and nice.

For every key, there is a lock. That's the whole thing about it. And every day is an adventure.

Damn, you say catchy things sometimes, Tuomas!
This is signature material.

General Discussion / Re: Latin translators?

Living language to Latin are easier than the reverse.

Did you actually mean to say this? That it's easier to translate a living language to Latin than the other way around? That can simply not be accurate; it only requires that you have a hunch about the Latin words to make out the general meaning, whereas forming proper Latin requires full insight in its very complex grammar.

But I agree that WHAM should post his query here and see what people can come up with.

Yeah, I was gonna jump into this debate with some hardcore heathen viewpoints as soon as someone worth debating showed up.
But it was only Steeldrummer all the way....so now I almost feel more inclined to back Steeldrummer up just for the heck of it.

Eddie Izzard. Possibly the smartest/funniest person alive today.

He could come as man or woman, I don't mind either.

I'd call Ricky Gervais if Eddie wasn't available, and after that I'd probably pick John Cleese. I don't see why I should hang out with a person an entire day if he wasn't funny.

And Jesus replies, "Whatever extent that you did these things to the least of people, you did it to Me."

Yeah, that is an excellent quote. Of all bible passages, that's one of my favourite.

Thanks for your feedback.

Update:
* The game is now sorted under short games
* It doesn't say demo in the game
* Most of the unimportant hot-spots have been removed.

Edit:
Soundtrack hasn't been on my mind so far since the game sessions are meant to be recorded and there must thus be no sound, but I guess I could still add a soundtrack for you guys and simply mute it during the observations.
So if anyone is willing to whip up a nifty midi-track, let me know! Mods, I'm looking your way.

PS:
Also, I haven't taken the opportunity to thank SSH for tip on how to design one of the puzzles. So cheers, mate :)

Eric, that sounds great. Having a project that you love like that is a bliss.

Also, the very short time I spent on making my concept game has given me inspiration for a new game. I intend to begin production in June, after my examination.

I've been meaning to make something like this for years, but lacked a spark, so to speak. Now I'm confident I will make it.

So far I can say that the game will be an exploration-based hybrid between a sim and adventure, and that it will feature a very dynamic and organic game-play. It will also be huge, so I will need a lot of help :)

This is also your home, Monkey, and what means most to people here is what you contribute to the community.
I won't enter a lengthy discussion about religion with you; I think your foundation is strong enough to withstand a bunch of semi-strangers attempts to question your beliefs. I also don't think you should regard people's responses here as mockery or rejections. People simply want to share their convictions and theories to help you save some time or lead a better life. Because we all think we're right.
Many people need to experience things for themselves before accepting any other views on the subject. The important thing is that you explore life and its various aspects, and never take one path for granted. If you spend long periods pursuing a certain goal, even missing that goal will still be worth the journey, because it was your journey and undertaking it led you to wisdom concerning other aspects of life.

Example from life:
Years and years ago I tried to convince Helm that the body and mind are one, and that we're all just subjects to the predetermined aspects of our physical entities. He still chose to go on a 3 year long inner pilgrimage to attain spiritual deliverance. His monk-like life wasn't necessary in my eyes, but it gave him a solid platform to stand on when taking on other hardships later in life.
I would never point at him and go "I told you!" because I firmly believe he learnt things that I missed out on.
And later on, I stopped pondering so much about existentialism and turned more pragmatic in my own pursuit to become a better person.

Some people have "missioned" already, in various ways, and feel a desire to teach others. Listen to those who have lived inquisitively and tried on some different paths to the multiple endings of life.

A virgin can't help you with your sexlife, but a person who's never voluntarily abstained can't help you endure your celibacy.

Those screenshots remind me a lot of the traditional French-Belgian comic style. Very refreshing!

Ugh, each gun does not equal 30 deaths.  That's mental illness.   Mental illness clouded his judegment.  Judgement is a mechanism most people have.

Pray, are all those (roughly) ten thousand killings you have each year all done by people with documented mental illnesses?
I have the feeling that 30 deaths is a fairly small figure compared to the total amount of gun-related deaths. You make it sound like, apart from those crazy school-shootings, guns are hardly a problem in the US.

I wish people would stop telling me what the problem isn't and tell me what it is.

It's not guns, it's not society...just what the hell drives people to pick up their guns, strap on their shoulder holsters, and go to town?

There isn't much left to blame. Al Qaeda? Satan? Enron? Erectile disfunction?

But LimpingFish, I think we've been told now that the problem is that not everyone is carrying a gun. There are simply too few guns in society, and when arming yourself becomes mandatory the problem will go away.

But Jesse, I thought we were discussing people now, not nations. (Not that I support nuclear weapons on that scale either.)

A decision in a government goes through a chain of approvals and are often discussed on many levels during a period of time.
A person on a street is subject to his on sudden whims, mentally unbalanced, even inner voices. Or drunken aggressions like CJ just described.
A bit different, right?

Quote
I am however weary to give nukes to mentally ill people!  And I think you'll find gun control lobbyists will have success if they switched their focus toward un-arming the mentally ill.  Instead they argue ideologies

But didn't we just discuss that it's very hard to point out the mentally ill in beforehand? Only a small portion of them have medical records proving their illness.
#2535
Was that a counter-argument, or an argument supporting my made-up scenario?

So you do support the notion that if every private citizen owned a nuclear bomb, things would be allright and everything would be peaceful?
#2536
Let's picture me being a ultra weapon-lobbyist now. I claim that if everyone was allowed, yes even forced, to own a nuclear bomb, violence would drop. My argument would be that people would be so deterred, so affraid of reprisals, that nobody would dare to provoke anyone.
What would your counter-argument be?

The two most brutal school shootings (Whitman held the record until VT, right?) were perpetrated by mentally ill 20 something year olds.   You actually think that a sane person would shoot and murder someone ( seeing the carnage and experiencing those emotions)  and continue to murder others around him?    It is not a coincidence that the two bloodiest mass murders like this were by mentally debilitated individuals.

I'm not saying they're weren't crazy, I'm saying you can often not tell in beforehand who's crazy and who's not. Therefore, that nifty little clause about how only 'sane' or 'normal' people should be allowed to carry guns is practically impossible. Most maniacs appear normal until they flip.

Quote
You took my words and pulled out "Jesse thinks there should be gunfights everywhere"  when Jesse quite adequately stated "There would not have been a gun fight if guns, LIKE EVERYWHERE ELSE, were concealed in the purses and the shirt tails of innocent citizens."

Innocent good guys, lawful citizens. Do you agree this is a tricky term? Everybody is innocent until proven guilty.

Quote
You actually think Americans are less likely to carry guns now that they feel they can be murdered in the most "gun-free" areas?

No, I think they are more likely to carry guns now, which is a problem.

As I said, it's getting increasingly hard for people like me to discuss this, since I consider a society without guns the best scenario, whereas most americans consider this ridiculous, and limit their discussions to how and where these guns should be distributed. Why are the guns there in the first place? Guns are just an escalation from knives. Next step is bombs. When every Joe Smith has his own bomb, people will be even more deterred, even more affraid of reprisals. Therefore violence will drop. True or false?

I'm writing this seperatly coz i feel like doing it so:

First of all i started this thread coz i wanted to upload anything new with the team
(e. g. our logo((alredy in progress)) and what happend with our games etc.)
Ok??

So don't write if you only want to critizize(i dunno the right spelling)me, but if you're intersted then visit this thread often.

Kid, this is not how it works. You're supposed to post stuff on this board that is in the general interest of our community. You're not supposed to just advertise yourself here.
You can introduce yourself in the introduction-thread, you can promote your games in the games-in-production board and you can look for help in the designated threads in the chat-forum.

Now, don't get all post-obsessive here, but go and work with any of those great projects of yours.

I've always been curious about how Finnish men pick up women. Most of the exchange students we've had at my uni usually just spend their pub/club-nights standing in a corner in a bland white t-shirt and some booze in one hand looking bored.
