People here don't know you, or what you've done, or what you're capable of, and truthfully, people are not extremely interested in having random kids pimping their seemingly irrelevant projects, so just take a few steps back, grow some years older and come back when you have something to show us.

Insane people in "gun free zones"  are shooting fish in a barrel.  Its the gun control laws that kept any of those students at VT from getting into a shootout with Seung-Hui.   He knew nobody would be carrying a gun, compared to say Walmart.

Can you say it out loud that the problem now is that there are too few people carrying guns, instead of the other way around? Can you say that you prefer the wild west scenario where anyonce can carry out justice at will; everyone's a judge and an excecutor?

You pro-gun people need to realise that you can't tell who's the bad guy and who's the good guy in advance. This time the perpetrator had a medical record of mental instability and whatnot, but it's not like it's always the case. Your perfect model society is based on the notion that the world consists of good and bad guys, and that everything is safe and sound as long as the evidently good guys carry weapons and the bad guys don't.

Thanks guys :)
About difficulty: The target audience is Swedish school kids at varying ages. It's not meant to be challenging for an experienced ag-player, nor for native English speakers.
About length: The observation sessions won't last more than 45 minutes (during which the test subjects will be video-taped), so there's no point in making it much longer. Even though playing the game straight through prolly won't take more than minutes for veterans like you, having to look up words in a dictionary will add to that time.
About generic responses: The entire game (backgrounds, animations and scripts) was put together within roughly 3 weeks, so everything is extremely rushed. I also wanted to have lots of hotspots to increase the vocabulary feedback. Of course, having lots of named hotspots without being able to interact with them is annoying. I still tried to vary the responses, but apparently not well enough :)

Markbilly, yes, some puzzles lack 'repeat'-functions; on the other hand you should be able to type 'exit' and start over the conversation.  If I get the time, I'll improve that aspect.

Thanks a lot! That bug should now be fixed.

Yep, I've had some play times reported and decided to put it up on completed games.
Go here to check out the latest version.

This is a relatively short game, featuring a young diplomate sent to solve some problems on one of the admiral's ship.
It features some language-based puzzles as well as some more traditional ag-puzzles and hopefully a laugh or two.

Visit download page here.

Unpack all the files into one folder, then open 'capricorn.exe'.

This is a short, relatively rushed game which was constructed as a part of my examination project. It's meant to have a strong pedagogical aspect.
The game is finished, but too short and conceptual to fit the completed games' section. It should still provide some amusing gameplay, I hope.

Download here!

I would be thankful for feedback regarding the game's difficulty and playing time. Also, since this will be judged heavily on its language, such reviewing would also be appreciated.

Why do you wanna be a bad girl, Tartalo?
#2549
How could you possibly think this was a civilized discussion?

Also, you're not homosexual. Also, you are a pervert.
Also...where were we?
Ah yeah, Ivy was just gonna tell us about her sex life.

Nocturnal ejaculation is such a nuisance....first of all because it's messy, and secondly because it ruins all the nice sexual tension you've built up to actually use on something more creative.

The taboo of incest is based on the fact of flawed birth because of same blood mixed.

There's also the "minor" issue of abuse of trust, which is probably far more damaging than a single generation of limited gene pool reproduction.

Quote from: Helm
I don't condone father/daughter relationships because I believe they're obviously based on the taking advantage of a minor by an adult and as such are no different - but even worse because they abuse the safety of a parental relationship

Also, him posting pictures is not gonna prove anything. Ugly people date and mate just as handsome people do, considering there are as many ugly as handsome members of both sexes.

Then again, if all pictures would depict someone sickly inhibited and anti-social, with an apparent psychopathic look and a weird moustache, then we could start making conclusions.

But he doesn't; I've seen plenty of pictures now and looks like a cheerful, outgoing type,

There's absolutely no idea in losing your virginity too early, but that time should be based on your own sense of security and confidence. Don't let anyone else, parents, society or God decide when you're ready.

I have a fair amount of experience when it comes to the opposite sex, but I still remained a virgin for very long (at least in the fullest definition of the term) and never felt any pressure to lose that title. In return, sex has always been rather undramatic for me, and I can't even recall exactly which day might have seen my debute (all this doesn't mean I don't take it seriously; I'm deadly faithful).
In order to perform well, you need to relax a bit and see it more like playing than making promises to God. If you set all your hopes to the wedding night, chances are you'll be disappointed. Especially women often need to "learn" to enjoy sex, and men need to learn how to make women enjoy (and as a reward for this practice, God gave women the ability to enjoy sex much more than men can ever hope to, once they learn the routine).

Speaking of which, does God allow people to satisfy themselves and eachother as long as there is no penetration involved? The subtler aspects of satisfaction are just a matter of training; if you're good you can make your partner come without even taking your clothes off.

Helm, you might have misunderstood one of Monkey's quotes there. The girl was 13 when they 'lived together for 3 and 1/2 months'. You probably read it 'I lived with her for 3 1/2 years' or something.

Also, Yufster and Helm get 2 minutes in the penalty box for strong language. Give the cuss-words a break in the future, will ya'.

Mods, they all look fairly young to me, especially the last one.

She was 18 and you were 13? How exceedingly odd. What kind of needs can a young woman have to make her turn to a - barely - pubescent boy? And just touching you could have got her arrested.
Even if you happen to be abnormally mature for your age (and bodily developed) it's still an extreme situation.

Maybe a lot of the commotion in this thread stems from the fact that we interpret certain terms differently in different countries and cultures. I know Americans tend to be liberal with phrases like "seeing", "going out" and "dating", and they can more or less apply to just having milkshakes together. It also appears as if Americans can continue to date casually for very long, and that this state needn't develop in any direction.
In Sweden, you seldom date in a purely casual way more than maybe once; after that you either enter some sort of relationship or you drop it, and refer to eachother as friends.
Of all the relationships I know of (including my own), none have been preceded by a lengthy dating-phase.

I think it's often some sort of last resort for people to create some distance to a seemingly lost debate and save their dignity.

Maybe the situation has got better now, but I remember some years ago and back, when every darn internet discussion would feature some "well at least I've got a REAL LIFE you computer geeks!!"-post, as if it wasn't completely transparent how much that person was actually projecting their own real-life-issues.

To tell someone to 'get a life' is a surefired way of making everyone present immediately doubt the quality of your own life.

EDIT
Radiowaves, that's just your version of it. If you don't want to learn from a debate, you won't learn from it. Be it an internet debate or a real one. As we have just discussed, real-life debates are hardly more fruitful.

Also, don't underestimate the debates of this forum just because their participants act hard-headed and 'smart-ass'; people are affected more than you might think, and in the long run you might discover that you've actually changed even though you weren't aware of it yourself.

And please don't write "fact is" when you present something clearly false. We have not yet banned anyone on this forum due to the outcome of a debate. (We have never even banned anyone that we suspect is a real member, only apparent spam-accounts)
#2557
To everyone who keeps using the clichée about Internet being so god darn retarded when it comes to debating; show me an excerpt of your latest 'real-life' debate and maybe you can make a point.

Most of the time, people who complain about internet-debates (and re-tell this 10-year-old joke about special olympics and all that) are just not used to having various people of various backgrounds disagreeing with them.

This thread is as pertinent and relevant as you'll ever find a group of people debating anything. Get used to having people providing you with mixed opinions.

2 dozen roses, a big purple heart-shaped balloon that played the song "Wild Thing", a teddy bear, 1.25 gallons of her favorite ice cream, 4 liters of her favorite soda, a vase for the roses, a box of chocolates, a card....yeah I think that's it.

That's great, she can use it for a party with her 14-year-old friends.

Here are a few pointers:

* Don't give $100 worth of presents to someone unless you're either her rich uncle or her boyfriend (no it doesn't count that she has said she might go out with you after you've done x days of missioning).
* Until you have some sort of anniversary or other cause for celebration, just give symbolic gifts. Use your imagination and come up with something personal, a funny card that you drew yourself or a nice little plant or something. Good gifts are not per definition expensive.
* If you're gonna give something worth $100, don't go to the grocery store and buy consumables, buy something classy like a small piece of jewelry that will last.
* Don't mess with minors. I don't know if she's allowed to have sex (in Sweden and most countries she wouldn't), and you'd really be up the creek if she even hinted to someone that you've approached her indecently.

Oldboy is a very beautiful movie in all its depravity. I was sick for days after having watched it, but I still don't regret seeing it.
#2560
Big Brother, so the problem isn't that you have too many guns, the problem is that there are actually too few?

Wasn't the Wild West entirely built on the idea that if everyone carried a gun, everyone could carry out justice at whim?

Can you say it out loud that if everyone was forced to own a gun, gun-related violence would drop?

EDIT:
Yeah I agree with Eric. Why would these threads be based on a hatred towards USA? It's not like the guy killed a bunch of Swedes.
For once we discuss Americans killing Americans (as opposed to Americans killing Iraqis, which is the typical case), so this we debate out of concern and a desire to change things to the better, in America, for Americans.
