You're better off posting in the need-help-thread in the adventure chat forum.

You have made very little progress so far, and should come back when you've developed at least 20-30% of the total game.
Also, you haven't actually published screenshots as the rules clearly say, but simply background images.

Please modify your post to include screenshots, or it will be locked.

Cyrus, if the author is a guest, how likely is it that he'll check these boards regularly enough to come across your little plea?
If no progress has been made for over two and a half year, he's probably not working too hard on it, and if he ever makes any progress, he'll probably come back to this thread and update it.

Please don't dig up old threads, they mess up the forum.

If you keep making good games you'll arrive at a similar position as yahtzee

...and you base that on what?

What an unexpected manifestation of epistemological clarity. What do you base anything on, Akatosh?

Yahtzee's games are professional and clean and made in a coherent style, which makes them very playable.
Still, I can't understand how people consider them to be literary masterpieces plot-wise. They seem extremely generic and superficial to me. Like cheap horror or detective novels that you'll find near the counter in a supermarket.

I played his latest game, and it was very nice, with well executed parser-puzzles and a mundane setting, until the horror-part started. Which was way too early.
Blood and skeletons everywhere, sudden flashes of nightmare visions, a diary with increasingly distressful entries, until the last entry is interrupted mid-page with something violent and bloody OMG can it be more original?

Furthermore, he hasn't managed to take the shortest step towards improving his graphics or at least adding something new stylistically, making you feel like you're watching the same 5 screens over and over again.

A new game universe would be cool idea. In order to make it a successful concept, there has to be a very small group of dedicated people who can agree to work under special terms. If they make some good games, people will start to contribute with their own games. It won't work if just one person says "look, I've created a game universe, now you can all make games that take place there, but you must have your plot and graphics approved by me first!"

So don't go and announce your grand project until you have actually released a game first that sort of sets the standard, or people will hardly feel encouraged to join you. Preferably, you should provide lots of sample graphics and templates for people to use.

More importantly, Dave doesn't consider himself too good for this community.
Well, not enough to leave, at least.

Well said, Progzmax. Today's society in large equals happy with good. If the ending isn't cheerful, people seem to feel fleeced of their money, as if they paid for the happiness.

I'm perfectly aware of the phrase and concept of "Deus ex machina", but I still don't like the title Deus Ex. It's not even much of a grammar issue; latin can be read very liberally when it comes to word order, and Deus Ex may well translate to "from God" with some good will.

But if you wish to avoid "machina" because it'd be too tricky to pronounce for the average american teen, then I don't think just cutting it is a good idea, leaving the phrase halved; the remains are just not esthetically appealing...

I'm theorizing a bit here, but hey, that's what the thread is for :)

I cant Create Dialouge because my computer has an Error

Your computer can't have an 'error' that prevents you from creating dialogue. The only obstacle would be your own impatience when it comes to learning basic AGS-programming.

Check the stickies before you start a thread, so you can see how to write it.

Thanks for the input.

SSH; interestingly, I recently taught common Swedish-English pronunciations mistakes for a class during my practice. I will actually try to implement a puzzle like that.

Tartalo; I intend to use a text-box on a few occasions. It's rather tedious to work with text parsers, so I will keep it pretty limited...

I'm not from Singapore, but Tom Waits made an excellent song with its name.

Latest news: My tutor wants the prototype of the game to be finished in two weeks, just so we can have plenty of time to evaluate it.

Now, everyone here knows that two weeks is not much time to get a game done, so I'm pretty much working 24/7 atm. Luckily, I'm far from a perfectionist, and I can produce both graphics and code quite quickly.

Here's a taste of what it will look like graphic-wise (I'm so far recycling an old player character):

I would appreciate input now, ideas of good puzzles that can stimulate the player's English aquisition etc.

Reading all the research literature for the thesis is draining my creative side, so I haven't had much time to ponder over the "plot" of the game.

Yodaman/Steeldrummer/Nicholas/Whatever

You're a disrespectful, spoiled brat who abuses the hospitality of this community. Despite so many chances, you still have no idea how to behave, how to treat your fellow forum members or the moderators.
I suggest you take a break from the forums and refrain from posting for a while, so you can consider your behaviour.

If people wish to continue discussing consoles, I propose you start a new thread, because this one is quite infected.

:D I know. I posted so many to annoy the mods. ;)

Congrats, you've officially annoyed the mods. There's a special list for people like you, and it takes a darn lot of good behaviour to be removed from that list.

Please use the designated threads that SpacePirateCaine has been so kind to direct you to.

I don't know much about consoles, but I understand this is big news.

I mean, a thread has to be special when it got posts by Esseb, Pesty AND Ghormak in it.

The "twist" with this project is that we want an older, more mature audience. We want to create a game that can be enjoyed by people who play regular games.
Most educational software out there is aimed at kids, presenting tasks like "click on the cow", and if you click the right animal, you'll hear a "moo" soundbit.
The other problem is that most products on the market are mostly about just transfering ordinary exercises to the computer screen. It's the same old fill-in-the-blanks, only presented on the monitor. We want a more interactive, immersive, plot-based "game".
